Has anyone been able to book Fantasmic as an advance reservation for DAS? We are going next month while dining packages are still unavailable. Our 30 day window opens in a few days. There is NO WAY my son will last through that standby line so I’m hoping DAS or Genie+ comes through for us

Fantasmic is not listed in the list of attractions that may be available for DAS Advance Selections on the WDW website.
I doubt that Fantasmic will be available for DAS Advance Selection, mostly because there is going to be a lot of interest in it after such a long closure and the updates in the show.

We did use DAS for Fantasmic before it shut down and I expect day of visit DAS will be available. Although I don’t know for sure, I expect it will have Standby Line, even if it offers Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane.
I don’t remember how early we had to be in the past while using DAS, but it was at least 30 minutes before the show. For shows, you generally get a window to arrive, not a start time and open end like regular DAS Return Times.

In the past, the closer it go to the start of the show, the busier and more crowded the walkway area behind the back row got. So, it’s better for most people to get there early and wait in your seat than to try to get in right before it starts.
I have not heard whether there will be one or 2 shows to start with, but in the past, when there were 2 shows, the second was usually less crowded and busy

If we could get to a seat, that could work. DS would do ok with headphones and an iPad for a while.

How does this affect the ability to book other DAS day of? When do you request the Fantasmic DAS access?

I have no idea how it will work now.
The last time we did it using DAS was before it closed for COVID. We went to the entrance and asked the CM for a DAS Return Time.

I don’t know if it will be available to book in the My Disney Experience App or only from a CM at the attraction/blue Guest Experience umbrella.
I also don’t know if it will be subject to the ‘only one active DAS Return Time’ or if There will only be limited number of DAS spots available.
In the past, they did close the Standby Line once capacity for the theater was reached, no matter how long before showtime. I expect if the Standby Line is closed, no more DAS Return Times would be given. Because we need a wheelchair spot and those can fill up fast, we did sometimes not get in, even though the Standby Line was still open.

My suggestion would be to ask at Guest Relations or Guest Experience umbrellas earlier in the day to find out what the procedure is. Also expect that things might be a bit ‘up in the air’ the first days and change as time goes on.

This was on the Plan Disney part of the WDW website in response to a question about whether Genie+ or DAS would be available for Fantasmic.
The answer given is basically, there is no thing listed as of now, but it might change.

I followed the links the writer posted in the story to Genie+, LL and the DAS list - Note though that the DAS list is the list for DAS Advance Selections, not all the things available for DAS.
This is a quote from what was posted October 29 and does say at the top that it is subject to change:

As of today, there has been no announcement to add this show to Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane options. I also checked the Disability Access Service (DAS) attraction selections and again, as of the time I am typing this answer, Fantasmic! has not been added. I would however pay attention to the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements of changes. I can assure you accessible seating will be available should that be an issue. Please ask a friendly Cast Member for the location of this seating area.

I'm a little surprised there's no provision for DAS yet, but hoping it's in the works.

With Fantasmic, it's just always so darn crowded down in there as you line up for the show. If I remember right, pre-COVID there was a line on the? far left? I think that was for mobility, HA and DAS type waiting? (someone - help me remember correctly - LOL it's been so long now!) They did *not* call it a DAS queue, if my memory serves. The last show we attended in January of 2020, they did ask me to join that queue on the far left, and they brought those of us with mobility devices and mobility issues down first, and got us situated in the spots along the back rows with our companions/traveling parties. (That was not our experience previous to that night; we had always mainstreamed prior to that.) The next group to come down was everyone else who was in that queue, along with the dinner party folks, followed by FP+ and then standby. Ironically, it was a fairly sparsely attended show that night because the temperatures had started dropping and the wind had kicked up. When the lockdown happened, and the show closed, we were so grateful we had gone, and bundled up and watched it one last time despite the weather!

I don't know if that is what they are doing now; I am still waiting to hear how they are handling mobility devices (as well as DAS and other folks with accessibility needs) for that particular show now that it has reopened.

NOT here to start an argument about DAS, or how it was/is/should be implemented at this show, etc. Just a reminder that while it could be that this show is one of those cases where waiting outside the queue system is not really viable given how they have to move Guests through that space.

That’s interesting to read how it was done before - we’d always used a fast pass to get in so I didn’t know. I agree it looks tricky.

If we don’t get in this trip, we’ll live. It’s kind of like when RoR opened - it wasn’t worth the stress to my son to be there super early in that crowd. Disney eventually came through with better options and we know dining packages are coming so I’m hopeful that a solution is on the way.
