Fantasmic! Superthread - Or Everything You Need To Know About Fantasmic at Disneyland

I have concerns about spending $60 each for all the reasons outlined above.

I'm guessing it will be done Fri, Sat and Sunday in early December. Am I correct in assuming Sunday will be the best time to go? I'm sort of hesitant to wait until Sunday though to see it in case any weather issues arise. That would be our last chance.

On a Friday or Saturday night in early December, how far ahead of time would we need to be there for a decent spot without the dessert package?

If we find a spot down close and people are sitting around us, do they stand up once the show starts?

We are going Tuesday to Sunday in October, and the only night it is showing is Saturday. The reason is the Halloween Party. I would be concerned with your dates if the Christmas Party is going on at that time, as they may not do it on the nights of the Christmas Party.

Confused. WDS is in Paris. Is that what you mean?

If you mean DCA they do not have fireworks. If you mean MK at WDW they do not cancel often because they do not have the noise and fireworks fallout issues as does DL because they have so much property.

One time in Disneyland the fireworks show was only half way through then stopped. Kids were totally bumbed.

I am really looking forward to the halloween fireworks later this week at WDW. Just hope they don't get canceled on the night of our halloween party tickets

We are going the week after Thanksgiving and will need a spot in the sitting area. Is 2 hours early (for the first show) still ample time to claim a spot?

That should be fine. You will not get front and center but there should be space.

I did in August. But it was for the late show. I have not done a first show stakeout since year 2000 LOL.

as usual, the handicapped area seems to be mainly for those in wheelchairs, ecvs, etc.

is there any area for the visually disabled? at wdw, we got a stamp for front of shows. we were allowed into the "handicapped" area for illuminations, but had to stand behind the wheelchairs. understand that you don't want to stand right in front of a wheel chair and block their view. but aren't there any accomadtions for those with low vision, who need to be up close to see anything?

(I am NOT asking about the dessert package, staking out a spot way ahead of time, etc. I know about these options. I am specifically asking if disney has any accommodations for those who can still see(as of now,..) , but only for a short distance.
we would like my husband, who has macular degenration, to see this and the fantasmic show while he can still see them

Hi! I just did the Fantasmic Dessert seating 9/28~ i was given "B Rope" seats- basically they set us up directly behind a small set of stairs with handicapped ropes directly across from the main part of Tom Sawyer Island. There was a Mother and son sitting in the handicapped area by themselves. We got to talking and they were seated there because of the son's macular degeneration. They both said that it took a lot of talking to various CM's in order for them to be seated there. They were the best seats IMO~ no railing in front of you and dead center to Mickey and Malificent. Maybe you can mention the B Rope area and get seated there with your husband. Good Luck!!

It's definitely true not all CM's are equal in their willingness to accommodate but I've always been able to find one who will help in the end.

I was noticing the recent questions about the dessert seating. So my partner and I did it in March and we were underwhelmed with the ergonomics of it all. You have to balance your plastic tray on your lap, along with its lid that doesn't fit securely, while unwrapping all the little food items and balancing your hot beverage. All without spilling anything. It was kind of a pain. They really need little tables.

Earlier this month we did the light-scaffold trick, standing behind the middle light scaffold while it's still on the ground, before they elevate it a few minutes before show time. We did this for the second show on a very crowded evening (Saturday, October 12 right before the CHOC walk.) We only arrived about 20 minutes before the show and got a perfect spot with a great view immediately at the iron railing. Everywhere else was packed--the riverfront sitting area, the PotC bridge, etc. But this area (as HydroGuy says) really stays empty--at least until other people see you standing there (we were the first ones there.) Except for my partner's tired feet (it was long day at Disneyland that day!), we liked the experience--and it's free price tag--better than the dessert seating.

I agree with the OP. We had combined the remaining items of our 3 dessert boxes into 1. While my sister and DD went on Dumbo afterwards, I managed to drop every item on the ground, bc the ill-fitting lid came loose. Some very non-Disney words accidentally popped out of my mouth! I scooped them up with the help of some lively passers-by.

At Easter, we won't be doing the dessert package again. I've told my DH I will wait for a couple of hours to hold our spot if he buys the churros ;-) It's really about saving money, this time around.

Very true, if you try to set the dessert box on the seat, the box will slide down. We did alot of waiting to get front-row seats even with the tickets. I think it was worth it for a one-time thing though. We really enjoyed the dessert boxes. For over $200 though for the four of us, don't know if would do it again.

I can't recall if HydroGuy addresses this above. Grade-school kids should be fine, but it is a chest-high railing for adults so younger kids I'm thinking might have a problem. You can see through the railing, but you little kids might end up with a view of the backs of the CMs staffing the control panel which is between you and the Rivers of America here.

Kids on shoulders in Disneyland is a whole can of worms I won't touch here, but I will say you never know if you'll have an angry person behind you who will go out of their way to ruin your show for ruining theirs. I could see that happening in this particular location since it is kind of a "last-resort" viewing area, you know?

Thank you for the quick answer. We will go with our original plan of staking out a spot in the sitting area. I am not a fan of my kids blocking anyone's view.
