Fantasmic Show ... disappointed

Fantasmic is my favorite show at WDW. My DH doesn't care for it at all and he's a Disney freak.

I was also there on Jan 8th. We were on the dining plan and decided to do the Hollywood & Vine dinner plan. We entered the package area right at 6:30 so we weren't seated probably until closer to 6:40. We put our zippered sweatshirts on right before but didn't find it that cold. At that point I know there were still tons of seating left in the regular section so really no need for a 90 minute wait or the package plan. We liked the show better the second time (for us) then the first time but still aren't overwhelmed by it. We prefer wishes and illuminations. We usually find a stop about 30 minutes before any of them. My friend who was with us both times loves fantasmic. I want to see it again when my 1 year old is older but it isn't something I want to see every year.

I don't know if the show has changed over the years...but we absolutely loved it in April of 2000, but when we saw it in April of 2005 we were disappointed too. We couldn't remember if it had changed or if we had changed....?

My kids reaaly enjoyed this show. Personally, I love Philarmagic in MK. We were not even planning on doing Fantasmic, but we literally walked in about 15-20 minutes before the start and were seated, (to the far right, but you could still see everything). I would not wait 90 minutes to see it though, the kids and DH don't have that much patience!

The show has not changed over the years.

For me its ok. I can go a few years without seeing it and not even be bothered. I can't go without seeing Wishes or Illuminations though.

I think the show is alright but my 6 yr olds just loved it. I have not made a point to see this on every trip. We did in December but probably wont see it next time.

The first time we saw this was at DisenyLand many years ago. We loved it. Had "front row" seats and everything. We were very excited when it came to WDW. I have seen it twice now and I think it lost something in having its own theatre. The show is nice and we do enjoy ourselves because it's Disney and that's just how we work! ;)

But we do not arrange our schedule around seeing it and miss it 99% of the time. Now, Illuminations and Wishes are another story. Both of them are favs! :goodvibes

This is what I love about these boards, it can really help you to see someone else's POV on virtually anything! :)

Thanks for the tip about the Illuminations smoke. We've seen it 3 or 4 times total--the first 2 times were on a boat for the Illuminations cruise the other times were right near the Rose & Crown next to the handicapped section. Ok for us, just not our fave.

We see Fantasmic at least one every trip & most trips 2-3 times. It is something we really enjoy although I have to admit that waiting that long for a seat is something we wouldn't care for. We've probably never waited longer than 45 mins for a show & do get to use reserved seating since my DH needs reflective captioning so in that aspect we are fortunate that we get to sit pretty much top & center every time we go.

Once you see the DL version, you're sorely disappointed in the WDW version. Worlds apart, IMO. We saw the WDW version once and don't bother anymore. Just not a must see or worth sitting for.

What is different about the DL version?

To each his/her own I guess.

When we saw it, it was in March, but it was fairly warm. I "persuaded" (i.e. dragged by the arms) my parent to go about 90 minutes early. Though my dad griped until the show started, as soon as it DID start, his camera was up and he didn't stop shooting (he's a photo freak, check out his site www.shuttrbill.com<--sorry, had to get that in.) My mom agreed with me that it was well worth the wait. Now granted, I had been trying to see it for 4 years, so I was definitely ready for it.

IMHO, I place it Fantasmic, Illuminations, and then Wishes. That song from Wishes gets annoying to me. I can't see Illuminations w/o crying, and not from the smoke. But I LOVED Fantasmic. The "theme song" is my ringtone. Though I don't know if I would wait that long in the cold for it.
