Fantasmic Show ... disappointed

Fantasmic is one of our family's favorites! We see it at least once every trip.

I think it is just amazing! :cool1:

The triumph of good over evil always makes me so happy! :flower: I just love that little mouse!! We saw Fantasmic Sunday night, and then took the bus to MK for Wishes. The perfect evening! ::yes::

It's far and away my favorite of the nighttime shows. To me, it's the kind of unique and original entertainment that makes Disney, well Disney. But to each his own--just leaves more room for us! :wizard:

Well said.... it is something you cannot see elsewhere... we always enjoy it.... but i wouldn't wait 90 minutes to see it..... i wouldn't wait 90 minutes to see or ride ANYTHING at Disney....

I'm stunned that you had to do a 90 minute wait on Jan 8th... what's going on that week?

We also do the dinner package....

I saw it for the first time two years ago after reading all the hype on these boards and shared your reaction of "that's it?" I thought it was ok, but not worth missing the hour+ of park time to make sure we got seats.

That said, we tried it again last week and I liked it better the second time around. I think it's because I didn't have it all hyped up in my mind like I did the first time, and enjoyed it for what it was, a well-done fireworks/pyrotechnics show instead of some blockbuster extravaganzer like I was expecting before. I'm sure we'll see it again in the future, but won't make it a priority and panic about getting there in time like I did the first year.

Hubby and I both saw it back in 2002 and thought "eh, it was good". Back in October of 2005 we did not bother to stay around for it.

It's a nice show but there are other places in WDW that I would rather spend my time at rather than sitting on hard benches with hundreds of other people watching a show.

Again, it's a nice show, but not really my thing. :confused3

:confused3 we have never taken the time to see this show? the crowd is what I have an issue with !

As Yogi Berra (is claimed to have) said, "Oh yeah, that place is so crowded, nobody goes there anymore!"

Reading these responses it is funny how everyone sees things differently. My DH and I LOVED Fantasmic, but I didn't see what all the fuss is about with Illuminations. :confused3 I think with Illuminations it might be the places we have sat.

To each his own I suppose! :confused3

That is part of the Disney Magic, there is something for everyone.

We love it, but different strokes for different folks. I think a lot of people don't realize how truly revolutionary the show is. Showing moving pictures on water mist, floating barges, live action and pyrotechnics takes a lot of imagination and work.

I think the projecting of the images on the water is wonderful...and the fire on the water! I enjoy this show and I notice something different each time. We've seen it about 8 times, usually with the dinner package, but never with a 90 minute wait.

We were there on the 8th as well. I know it's different strokes for different folks - We loved it!!! It was our first time and we thought it was very creative and something completely different from everything else. Yes, a lot of it is shown on the water projection thing but we realized that some of that was to camouflage the magic going on behind it and were completely impressed with the whole thing. Oh well...

I will say though - why in the world did you "have" to wait 90 minutes on that night. We started up the walkway right about 45 minutes before hand. Had to spend time putting our stroller to the side and had two girls to tote and only ended up spending just over 30 minutes in our seats that were very good - not front and center mind you, but still very good. I think maybe you overestimated the amount of time needed in order to see the show and that might have hurt your impression. Maybe not though - as others have demonstrated it's not everyone's cup of tea.

We've always been so-so about it, and that sentiment was confirmed when we took first-time friends in December; they're still trying to figure out what all of the hype was about. For my taste, it's: Illuminations, Wishes, Fantasmic.

My children love Fantasmic. I am not as impressed...this could be because the first time I saw it, the show broke right when the dragon appears and they had to cancel the rest of the show. Children were screaming everywhere about how Mickey was dead. Luckily, I didn't have children at that time...and DSis saw it for the first time in December and felt like if she wanted to watch the movies, she could stay home and watch them on TV. I like the show, but I definitely wouldn't wait 90 minutes. We do the dining package.

Wow, all this time I thought I was the only one!! I agree that the wonderful thing about Disney is that there's something for everybody. I enjoyed Fantasmic but I certainly don't need to see it every trip. Wishes, on the other hand, brings me to tears!

Is there anyone else that found the Fantasmic show a bit disappointing .... Everything I read on the forums raves about this show ....... friends and relatives assured me that it was a "must see" ....... My family and I (DW,DD(19),DS(23)) sat and waited for 90 min. on a cold (by florida standards) Jan. 8 night only to be underwhelmed by the show. Most of the show seemed to be a movie projection on a wall of water mist, with some theatrics and pyrotechnics mixed in .......... I'll probably take a beating for this opinion but I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way
I was there the night before you, probably colder the night I went, and would do it again 100 times over. This is my all time favorite Disney show. But everyone has their likes and dislikes, that's what makes the world go round. :earsboy:

We saw it last year for the first time. Waited 2 hours on those seats for it! I know!! Crazy! But I have to say it was worth the wait. Thought it was awesome. I love that Disney has all these different shows because there really is something for everybody! :wizard:

I love Fantasmic!!!!! for me best show on property

why did you wait so long for seats
I think they hype it so much that people are forced to do the dinner package..

Totally not necessary.

long ago, I did dinner package, price I felt dinner was way overpriced and seats lousy.. on our next trip, we did show on our own and went in about 30 minutes before showtime, got great center seats and totally enjoyed the show

Have done this in August, June, October and November.
so I have gone in both high and low seasons.
Don't be fooled by the hype,,,you don't need the package.
and I think when you just go on your own you appreciate it more.
Kinda like your not expecting something greater

Once you see the DL version, you're sorely disappointed in the WDW version. Worlds apart, IMO. We saw the WDW version once and don't bother anymore. Just not a must see or worth sitting for.

My fav is WISHES, but I did like Fantasmic! We, too waited (not 90 minutes!!) while it was "cold" (40's). We also mistakenly chose front row seats which means we were misted the entire show :rotfl: But even so, we all loved it. I guess you could describe any attraction/show/ride in bare bones (i.e., projections on water) and make it sound not so fun, but I think the magic was there. Your wait, the cold and the "build-up" from the forums likely affected your opinion.
