Fantasmic Package @ Mama Melrose Appetizer

Does the Fantasmic Package at Mama Melrose still include an appetizer? It did in 2015.

Disney site doesn't list it in description? But other sites show it?

I was there in November and it still did. Appetizer, entree, and a dessert (small plate with three mini desserts)

Do some searching around a little more. I'm pretty sure the price went down a little, and the appetizer was removed for 2018.
It was FAR too much food, but with kids that could eat a little more than a kids' meal we could share it all, but I was still far too stuffed to even look at the dessert. Not sure about all these folks that can eat a full Disney meal. I thought I could put it away with the best of them, but a lot of meals in WDW had me tapping out.

There was an announcement mid-year last year that they were taking it away for 2018, but no one has come back and reported whether they actually took it away or not.

What other sites? Are they WDW sites with 2018 info? If not, I think you have your answer.

They reduced the price by I think $5 from last year and removed the appetizer.

That's probably a good thing. I thought with the appetizer it was a LOT of food to eat!

If you wanted the package because it included the app, then I guess there's not. If you wanted the package for preferred seating at F!, then perhaps there is. You could skip the package and try for a 4th FP for F! and still get fairly good seats.

Or choose a better place to eat? Maybe on the Boardwalk? Not worried about getting a good seat in September.

It's astonishing to me how much sugar WDW pushes in pretty much all additional cost packages. (Like this decision to remove the app but keep the dessert) WDW obviously has the right to set these packages as they see fit, and I'm sure that either 1) they're trying to make the packages easy for the servers or 2) research data shows them that more people opt out of a dessert (because they're full) vs everyone ordering the app every time (since they're hungry). BUT, I really wish these would include an app OR a dessert if they're not going to include both. DW and I would split 1 app and 1 dessert this way, even if they were reduced size meant for only one individual.

And that is ONE of the reasons they don't give you the option. Most people would do it exactly as you want to and that would reduce table turn-over by quite a bit since you'd be doing three courses instead of just two. With just two courses offered, most people will not pay OOP for the app, and it keeps their tables moving.

I had not thought about table turn-over rate. Good point!

That benefit must be greater than the loss of patrons who opt not to be forced into the 'entree and dessert for all' package. If they're selling them that way, they are certainly making enough money to keep it that way.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but back in 2015 we were able to choose our dessert, but when we went in November it was a sampler, I wasn't a fan of two of the three desserts on the sampler after trying them, does anyone know if you are able to choose another dessert of equal or lesser value on the menu? I was disappointed in the sampler and noticed they had desserts of lesser value than the sampler on the menu I would like to eat instead.

From everything we've seen here, the sampler is the only option. Sounds like getting a 4th FP+ for F! might be the best plan for you.

We ate at HBD last July and I was bummed to see that they changed to an appetizer sampler from the last time we were there (around 2006). Dessert samplers are the worst...I really just want one large serving of something I really like than three small bites of things I might like to varying degrees.

In the discretion of your server. In 2016, mine let me sub the cannoli. But last Sept, I had no choice but the sampler.

It is the regular menu for your entree and drink, but they only offer a dessert sampler platter for the dessert.
