Fantasmic.... is it worth it?

Yes, I think you should. It's a very magical show. My family attended the evening show and really enjoyed it!

We went 2 years ago the first week of May. We got there the recommended 45 minutes early but that was too early to me. We had good seats in the middle of the seating area but it didn't actually fill up until close to the start of the show. I personally thought it was good but DH and DS 17 thought that was the best of the nighttime shows. My DD 9 and DD 5 seemed to really like it too. We will be seeing it again this year. Waiting is not really a big deal to us. Its part of being at WDW. Waiting for a bus, waiting for a ride, waiting for an ADR, waiting...

I was bored, but my husband and kids loved it. They want to see it again the next time we go. We had to sacrifice Osbourne lights to see it. I wouldn't do that again. That said, I am glad that I did it once. At least now I know what it is. It is a cute show, but watching clips of it on You Tube ahead of time gave away all the good parts. The show on the castle is better in my opinion. I definitely wouldn't wait an hour to see it.

So what I'm gathering is that I should make the time to watch it, knowing that I won't be impressed because I'll have to stand in line a long time, and it's outdated, so I won't want to see it again....

I love Fantasmic! It's one of my favorite things in all of Disney World and the main reason I go to Hollywood Studios.

I've gone both with the dinner package and without and both were fine. I liked the seating better without the package since I sat in the center section. They do some interactive crowd entertainment while you wait for the show so the time passes fast.

I say go for it. Especially if you've never seen it!

I'm not a fan of Fantasmic and my DH hates it. But we are not really fireworks/live show/parade type of people.

My family and I love it and never miss it...have planned our park days around it, to be sure we see it. Yes, the lines suck....but the show is amazing, movies on water.....seriously. Plus, the villains are my FAVORITE and after days of princesses - we need a little evil. It keeps the world balanced.

If you don't mind me throwing in a quick question...to the thread...has the show changed much since 1999? We saw it then and it was okay...we are debating doing it this October with the kids.

Definitely worth trying at least once. I have young kids who ask to see it each time we go. Having said that, I have seen kids in the crowd that were visibly scared.

I don't think it has changed at all since the beginning. Maybe some minor changes like which characters are on the boat at the end but the music and story line hasn't changed.

:rotfl: that is one of the best responses I've read on the DIS :rotfl:

Yeah, kinda true, in a weird way. I wouldn't say it is outdated, just boring!

Only you will know if that is true.....please sit through it and give us your honest thoughts.

We think Fantasmic is an awesome show.... see it once and make your own decision. I can see fireworks all the time at home... Fantasmic was a unique experience. Nice way to end the night at Hollywood Studios.... grab some snacks, dessert, a beer... whatever.... sit down and enjoy a great show that combines a story, fireworks, fire, characters, etc.... DS enjoyed it at age 4, 5, and 6.

Ok, so you've never watched, then by all means, you should!! Even if you only go once, you won't regret it. It is not a 'must do' every time for us!

I too, recommend the dinner package. We love to do Hollywood and Vine because you can get so many things to satisfy so many taste buds!

BOTTOM LINE - DO IT!

Fantasmic is awesome, but the dinner package isn't for us because you end up seated off to the side. If you like front, center, and wet, forget the dinner package. You need to show up early and bring ponchos!

IMO, it's well worth the wait. There's just nothing like it!

Not worth the hassle IMO.

If you could just walk up 5 minutes before and get a decent seat I would watch, otherwise I just rather spend my time elsewhere.

We saw it the first time we went to HS. My parents told us it was a must do. After seeing it, we couldn't figure out why. Our daughter (3 1/2 at the time) fell asleep before it started and it was a good thing b/c she probably would've been terrified. The show was very "dark" and it was very loud. If you have small children, I wouldn't go. As an adult, it was okay but not worth the insane wait and crowds we had to endure to get there. And we were there during a very slow time. I can't imagine doing it when it's crowded. If you do decide to do it, by all means do a Fantasmic dinner package so you at least don't have to deal with the crowds getting in and finding a seat. Had I known, we would have done that at least. For me, I'd use the time to try to get on TSM while the throngs are headed for the show.

You won't know if it's worth it to you unless you go see it.
As for myself, I enjoyed it, will see it again, but not high priority.

Hmmmmmm - I guess it depends on how you view time - what I mean is some people wouldn't want to wait an hour/ hour and a half for a half hour show they may or may not like. I happen to love Fantasmic and I love waiting for it - observing the crowds, having a snack while I wait, chatting with the people around me - for me it is all part of the experience. I really enjoy the show.pixiedust: :)

Only you can answer that question for yourself - if it is worth it or not. Have a great next trip whatever you decide about Fantasmic.
