Fantasmic.... is it worth it?

We like Fantasmic, but it is our least favorite of the fireworks shows at WDW. We go when we can, but if we have to miss it we don't feel like we've missed anything special. We go when we can, but I agree that the wait in those bleachers makes it somewhat less desirable than the other shows. JMO. Hope you go, and hope you love it! And btw, they did revise it several years ago didn't they? It used to be really scary and now it is less so, isn't it?

I don't think it is a must do, especially if you only have a limited time at WDW. I didn't read up on it too much and thought it would be a bigger spectacle. The movies projected on waterwalls was cool for the first few minutes but I thought there was way too much of that, and not enough live action. It was very loud for my tastes compared to the other shows. The lake of fire was pretty impressive though. Considering the wait time before and after, I don't think I would go again unless the kids really ask.

I agree with the poster who suggested that you consider how you view your time. My family skipped it on every trip until the last one. First we did not want t bring our little DGD because she would be a little frightened and then after that we just did not want to give up that chunk of time needed. We loved this show and will see it again but not on every trip.

If you have been to WDW several times and if you don't resent allocating the time needed, then by all means, it is a good show.

The reason is is always a must for for us is Hollywood Studios is always a full day park for us and you really need to arrive at rope drop to avoid extended wait times for Toy Story.

Anyone who has ever arrived at Rope Drop for Hollywood Studios can tell you that if you do, you can knock out all of the big/long wait attractions well before lunch. With Toy Story, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Star Tours (and either Indiana Jones or Beauty and the Beast) all knocked out for lunch, there just simply isnt enough to do that would make us skip something because we were watching Fantasmic.

To avoid standing in line we usually book the Fantasmic Dining Package because we prefer table service in Hollywood Studios anyway (there CS is by far the worst of any park). The only thing it takes away from is possibly hopping to another park.

If you plan on doing HS in one day and arriving at rope drop, you can do the entire park (big rides more than once) and still have plenty of time to see Fantasmic and not miss anything. Unless American Idol or Jedi Training is taking up a few hours during the day.

For DS & DD, sitting up front under ponchos and seeing Mickey teleport made the show totally worth it!

If you're going to sit way back, don't bother.

We never miss Fantasmic ... our family loves it! However, so we don't sit around forever, we always make sure to plan going on an evening when there are two showings. We then go to the 2nd showing. It's never full and you don't have to wait around as much as you do for the first show.

I saw it once and didn't really like it. I especially didn't like waiting so long with two squirmy toddlers in tow. It just seemed like a waste of valuable time to me. I'll skip it from now on. I enjoy wishes and Illuminations much better and I never skip those when I go to WDW!

I'm so glad it's not just me! All we heard about was how we had to see it. If we did one thing at Disney we had to see Fantasmic! So we waited an hour with a 4 yr old who wanted to be anywhere else than waiting in that line. We watched the show which was very loud for her and I wasn't that impressed. It just didnt do much for me.
I'd probably see it if I was walking by and only had to wait a few minutes but it's not worth it for me to wait an hour for. That said my youngest has not been to it so I'm sure I'll be waiting for it soon :). Everyone has there own opinion though. My bil thinks its the most amazing show ever!

Sounds just like my entire family. I could have written the same thing.

We love that show! Hubby not so much....he says he has seen it 3 times, he's good, lol. But we can't go without seeing it. The only thing I don't like is the wait. You have to line up way before it even starts and wait and wait. That's the only bad part. :sad2:

We wanted to experience both Scifi (at 11am) and Fantasmic Hollywood & Vine (at 7pm) in a day. I hope its not too much food.
