Fantasmic! FASTPASS Testing-NOW (April 22-27)

A step in the right direction. It would still be necessary to get to the theater say 30 minutes in advance (of show time) but at least it would not be necessary to get there two hours in advance.

I can handle 30 minutes, I can't handle 2 hours. :headache: Neither can my kids. Hopefully it is a successful run and they will add it for our trip in October. I just made an ADR for 4:25 in hopes we will be done with dinner by 6:30 so either DH or myself can get in to get seats while the other takes the kids on a ride or something. Maybe they should think about making it like ADRs, where you call to reserve a time for entry and they let you in in waves. Or is that FP+???:scratchin

Either way, I'll be interested to see how it goes.

I'm going to HS on Saturday the 27th. We are probably going to be arriving between 1 and 2pm, so I assume the FP will be gone. We shall see.
We plan to see Fantasmic, so I will report back with my observations.
:cool1:

Maybe, maybe not. I imagine most folks know nothing about this yet so it's not like they'll be seeking them out.

They send the "standby guests" around the outside of the seating area.

Here are the revised, revised, revised, revised maps.

More more more more more changes!

I'll give you a final roundup at the end of the week once everything is settled, but for now I'll tell you what they have done the last two night.

DP seating was once again moved, now it is in Mickey and Pocahontas.

Everything over to Beast is for FP.

Everything over to witch is for SB.

SB guests take the route of your original maps going up the small ramp at witch them going to seat in their sections.

Wow, so 60% of the stadium would now be reserved seating.

This will be interesting for sure.

I assume they rope off the seating to avoid overfilling and section jumping (new word).

With FP+ at least you know you will get in last minute, but you will be way on the far end if so.

I also think the SB will be monitored and you will be told when its full, so you don't enter and wait for nothing.

It is starting to make more sense (per Robo's more changes map and description), which may be cold comfort if it screws up your planning.

Putting DP in the middle (allegedly better seats), and an area for FP. Logical.

I find it hard to imgine that they would leave empty FB seats for no-shows. Decreasing capacity is not a win, unless win is defined as an overemphasis on planning and predictability at the cost of highest utilization. ;)

is it app 800 per section?

So 4,000 FP+ per show?

Only 3600 FP are allotted per show, and with heat I would only say each section is around 700 people, with Beast and Witch a little smaller.

Empty FP seats = more Standby guests.

So if this continues...it looks like you may want to purchase the dinning package to be guaranteed seats or even good seats? :confused3

They will most likely see a rise in DP purchases when this roles out for real around June. The ultimate goal is to be half the seats for FP, half for DP(so much profit), and standing room for Standby.

And I thought 60% was high. :sad2:

Ack.

Looks like our days of watching Fantasmic each trip may be over (depending on whether we can get FPs or not).

I for one absolutely love Fantasmic! (actually, just watched it on YouTube). I think the soundtrack, story, and special effects are really neat. Anyways, I've always been a large proponent of the FDP for the primary reason that despite the "not perfect" seating, you can literally show up 15 minutes prior to showtime and still get a pretty good seat. That leaves more time for attractions of course.

Also, this talk of the standbys only getting to stand probably won't happen. What you'll see is about 50% of the theater for DP and FP guests and 50% of it for standbys. Remember, they are also adding 1,000 more seats to the show.

If the entire stadium is going to be used for dining packages and fastpass, won't people still have to line up really early to get a decent spot? (Assuming they care of course). All it does is get you IN. But it doesn't do anything to get you a good spot.

Sort of like if they give out all of a ride's capacity in fastpass, it really can't be all that fast any more. :confused3

It will take a very long time for that to actually happen though. A set number of FP will be given out per day, and note that it will be in the same sub-group as TSMM, which will be 50% for sure. DP, as of right now, is maximum of 27.7% of the theater. The "goal" is to increase DP sales and maybe one day be half the theater. Until then, a set number of SB will get seats while 1000 SB will get standing room.

That is why FP has multiple time slots. You won't be able to get "in" line until your time is available. The reason for all this is to avoid a line at all costs on Sunset.
