Fantasmic dinner packages

Brown Derby is 2TS credits, Hollywood and Vine (awful), and Mama Melrose are 1TS credits. I did not care for H&V at all. I can seriously say that it was the worse food that I have ever ate.

Brown Derby was very good. The dessert was the best I had a Disney. But...it is very expensive, especially if you are eating it as your "lunch".

Well that is just great. I have been scouring these boards and have found so many pros and cons about the resturants etc that is isn't funny. I had hoped to do the Fantasmic package in August but I am really torn about which resturant to go to. The Derby is out because my kids don't like fancy stuff, I thought about H&V but I am hearing alot of bad stories about that. That leaves Mamas. Or we could just eat a counter service and wait in line...thoughts?

We love Mama Melrose.... it is one of our favorite places to eat... we will be doing the Fantasmic package on our May trip...

I've ate here and it's the only restaurant at Disney that I have vowed never to go back to!

Guess I'll be skipping on Fantasmic! The only restaurant that I'm interested in at DHS is 50's PTC. I'm not up for waiting in the LONG Fantasmic lines.

I hate waiting in lines, and while I loved Brown Derby, to do fantasmic, I would probably do Mama Melrose. It was so worth it, not to have to wait in line as long. (why waste precious disney time waiting in line?)

have not done Brown Derby -- and probably won't...don't think it would be worth 2 TS credits at all.

Loved, Loved, Loved Mama Melrose...good food, good service. If you like Olive Garden (and similar places) you'll like Mama Melrose. Here's the link to my review from September 2008 -- with pictures, post #21

We also enjoyed Hollywood & Vine in May 2008...yes, noisy & yes, busy. It's a buffet, so of course there's a lot of hustle & bustle. But when we were there the hot food was hot, cold food was cold & all was tasty. Messes & spills were cleaned promptly, everything was refilled & replenished on a timely basis. Dessert station was dee-lish.

I would not discount any restaurant just because you read bad reviews on here...every single restaurant gets good & bad reviews. For example, many, many people LOVE Boma. Based on the reviews, we thought we'd love it too: We really did not like it at all! Ugh! But obviously lots of people do like it. Who's right? We all are, because in the end, it all depends on your tastes, and your expectations. If the menu sounds good to you, try it. These places serve thousands & thousands of meals every week. If they were as bad as reported, they'd have no customers. You tend to hear from the 100 people that didn't like it...you rarely hear from the 10,000 who did. That's human nature.

I agree 100%. Not everyone has the same taste and the same expectations. Nothing wrong with that, just the way it is. We love Boma, but aren't big fans of 50's PT. We have eaten the breakfast buffet at HV and it was okay. Nothing special, not bad, just okay. We do like Mama Melrose. Have always had a good experience there.

Us too!Hollywood & Vine blah! We chose MM because we have never been there and I know Fantasmic will be crowded with the very limited shows.

We ate at Mama Melrose on the Fantasmic package and it was lovely, we really enjoyed our meal and our waiter/server was fantastic.

Unfortunately we really didn't enjoy our meal at Hollywood and Vine.

We did the fantamic package in 06 with Hollywood and Vine I dont remember it being good or bad It was very busy. But the Package is well worth it, we got in and there were some in line that did not get in to see the show the night we went. We are planning on doing this in June and trying MM not because of HV was bad just trying new things each trip. If going to Fantasmic I would highly recomend the package. Anything to make lines shorter at Disney is worth it to us, we have to eat anyways.

We've eaten several times at all three restaurants (yes, we are slow learners where Hollywood and Vine are concerned-tried it three times before we finally said we'd rather wait in line than eat there again==YUCK!!). Brown Derby is very good, but not worth wasting 2 TS credits on. If we eat there, we will pay cash. Mama Melrose is by far our favorite of the three, but unfortunately it seems to be everybody else's favorite also and is the first to go at 90 days out. I'm eating there in May!:cool1:
