Our trip is August 18 - August 27, 2006. I heard the parks are not as busy. Anyone think I can skip doing a dinner package for Fantasmic? We would only do a dinner package to keep down the wait to enter the show.

Nope,

We're always at the World the last 2 weeks in August and Fantasmic always has a 60-90 minute wait. Folks start lining up early. We always do the dinner package just to skip the line.

Us too!! We have always gone the end of August. Crowds are light-but the wait for Fantasmic is always long. The package is great. :thumbsup2

The crowds are lighter but I believe they switch to only 1 show a night about that time which makes for everyone trying to get into that one seating.
We are doing the MM package. I figure you have to eat and with the dining plan the cost is covered and MM appeals to our group anyway. I've done it both ways at the end of august with and without the package and I think that doing to package is better for not waiting.

We tried not doing the package once, the last week in August. We went for the 2nd show, and 75 minutes prior, the line was out on the street, and they said those of out still in line would be in standing room only. I went straight back to the desk at the hotel and booked the dinner package for the next night.

what is the menu for MM for the package is it a set menu? or can yu order off the menu, app, entree etc.

I did it both ways this past August. I think it really depends on where you want to sit. With the dinner package seating is on the right side of the theater. We got there about 30 mins before the show and ended up really high up. There were not many seats left even in the reserved section by this time. I went again later in the week without the dinner package and got there about 1 hour in advance. I got seats dead center, 4th row. So, if you want good seats you will need to go early and therefore no need for the dinner package. If you don't care where you sit but prefer not to wait, you probably don't need the package either because there will be seating somewhere in the theater. I don't think it was standing room only either night.
