Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose

How does the FDP currently work at Mama Melrose? We've done this package in the past when it was a fixed cost (or 1 TS credit) and you were entitled to an appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcohol beverage. I was just looking at allearnet.com and it said something about the Mama Melrose and Brown Derby FDP being a la carte.

I'm curious how it would work both on and off the dining plan. I have booked this for January when we will be on the dining plan, but am thinking that it might make more sense to pay OOP if we are able to eat a la carte. The meals that we like there are pretty inexpensive compared to some of the other meals we have planned.

Thanks!

We are also doing it (no dining plan) in January. My understanding is that you just order what you want from the menu and that's what your bill will be.

For the DDP, I don't know if it works like the other restaurants or not - no appetizer, but entree & dessert, but I don't believe there is a special Fantasmic menu at all anymore.

I had the Fantasmic DP booked when I was there on the 13th. I was on the dining plan and the server informed me that I also received an appetizer. I was able to choose anything from the menu.

I don't know how it works when you pay out of pocket.

for the Fantasmic package and it's not cheap. It's always been better to use a dining credit if you could get a reservation for it.

I'm not sure what's being said on allears.net about it. Ala carte doesn't make sense; because, how does Disney get a certain amount of money for it? Maybe, what's being said is you have a choice of what you would like to eat. The package includes an appetizer and you can use one credit for it at Mama Melrose.

We're booked for December.

I know it was a package price in the past, but it isn't listed currently on allearsnet.com. It just makes mention of "a la carte" pricing. I agree that it doesn't make sense how Disney would make money, if it was set up that way, and I'm sure Disney would prefer to make a few bucks above menu prices for this program.

It has been reported that it is a fixed price that includes your choice of an appetizer, entree and dessert (and I believe a non-alcoholic drink) for about $35 for adults (can't remember the kids' price, but I think it was about $15). No fixed menu, but a fixed price. We tried to book it for January, but it was full. I think the fixed price is to prevent someone from booking the package and only ordering an appetizer or dessert.

For the DDP, it counts as one credit but you also get an appetizer.

The description on allears.net is very confusing. I have read on the DIS that the package is a fixed price, but you order one appetizer, one entree and one dessert off the menu. So that's not really a la carte. I think they are trying to say that there is no set menu. No way would Disney let someone get the F! vouchers and only order an appetizer or dessert.

I went and did a bit more research. I checked on TGM - should have looked there before probably.

He just updated his F! Dining package article in late September, so it should be up to date. It gives a set price for all 3 restaurants:
Mama Melrose - $35 adult
Brown Derby - $50 adult
Hollywood & Vine - $28-33 adult

Then he explains that you can order what you want off the menu at MM & BD (same "a la carte" terminology that AllEars uses and specifies appetizer, entree & dessert), but since H&V is a buffet -- well it's a buffet!

I still can't answer anything about the DDP though - we'll be paying cash. But I ALSO misunderstood allears' description on this one - they should include the current price for MM & BD - that would make it clearer.

Thank you vicki_c! That sounds more like it, and how it has been in the past. The allearsnet.com description just threw me off.

We are also doing the package in January, and the CM confirmed that for adults it is $35.14 (at MM). I'm sure that 14 cents makes a huge difference. :lmao: Anyway, the CM told us that it used to be a specific menu that you could choose from - still appetizer, entree, dessert, drink. Now it includes all four categories, but instead of a limited menu, you can choose from the "regular" menu. I think that is why they have started using the words "a la carte". And if you are considering BD, the CM did say that if lobster is listed on the menu, you can't have it as your entree. ;)
