We are up at a more reasonable hour today, and after the usual coffee, decide on breakfast at Artist Pallette, we both get the Breakfast Platter which is very good, bacon, sausage, hash borwns etc, last time we got breakfast here, we found it to be a bit chaotic and noisy but it is much nicer today, maybe because its later in the morning.
The plan had been to have a sunbathe and swim this morning, as we have our DIS meet at Epcot and MVMCP later on, but I mention to Ian that we should really change our plan as it is a bit too cold. He insists that it will be fine and we head back to the room for our books and optimistically our sun tan lotion. We are the only ones at the pool and we get some very strange looks from passers by, Mousekeeping are in their winter coats and wooly hats!! It turned out that Ian was right if you chased the sun about it was quite pleasant and we spend a few hours relaxing and reading, we are doth disappointed that the Grandstand pool bar is closed after all as Mr Churchill would say its 5 o clock somewhere...
We head back to the room to get ready and then its on the bus to Epcot for our DIS meet at the Rose and Crown, we get a wine and beer and then head outside to see if we can spot anyone, we soon meet up with Mandy, Claire, Amy and their families and we have a lovely time discussing what we have all been up to and our plans for the rest of the trip. Mandy is my drinking partner, while I have wine she has bacardi and coke, well done Mand, I knew we would click
The children are all great and Charlie and Dean (Claires little ones seem to take a liking to Ian ....
Sadly, we have to say goodbye as we have a party with a Mouse to get to, so we say our cheerios and head off to get the monorail to the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP. We get there just in time for the Castle lighting and it is beautiful, I was a little nervous about this after some of the things they have done to the Castle over the years (remember the neon cake), but they did a brilliant job, and I hope it is a tradition that they continue.
We have a 6.00pm ressie at Liberty Tree and we enjoy a lovely meal of salad with strawberry vinaigrette, beef, turkey and ham with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans and gravy followed by berry cobbler, and we get to meet some rascals.
We had both decided that tonight wasn't about rides for us, more about the parades, fireworks and soaking up the atmosphere, so we have a wander about, stopping to watch the dancing that is going on in various places. Ian gets the Christmas party and annual pass pins which makes him a happy bunny.
We watch Christmas Wishes from Liberty Square, wow they are fantastic fireworks all around the parkto various Christmas songs, some of the fireworks are parcels, bows and smiley faces - brilliant.
Time to stake out our spot for the parade, and we are lucky to get a spot at the top of Main Street it is packed, we get into conversation with some Americans, and the mother shares the phrases she learnt whilst sharing a room at college with an English girl, I am sorry that I can't share them they are far too crude, but she was so funny
The parade was brilliant and we got to see Santa, the snow on Main Street was lovely but I still think the snow at MGM was better. Ian is freaked out by the soldiers for some reason so I make sure to take a picture of them....
We get our free hot chocolate and cookies, lovely if a bit sweet, and do another lap of the park, we are able to get on Pooh, Pirates and The Haunted Mansion before deciding its cold and time to go, so we get a bus back to Saratoga.
An exciting day tomorrow as we venture away from the world for the first time in years
Our photopass came yesterday, so here is a piccie from MVMCP
