Is anyone else looking up their family tree? I started last year as my father died in 2004 and I knew nothing about his side of the family, and practically nothing about my mothers (I am currently deciding whether to stay with my father's surname or change it to my mother's maiden name). I have got back to the early 1700s with one family and just got back to 1784 with another (why oh why did familys go through the same name trying to find Henry Holt father of Henry Holt and probably son of Henry Holt gets irritating.) I did a generic search for Whadcocks on ancestry.com and found some of them in America which is really interesting as it doesn't seem to be a large family. They where pretty lucky none died in ww1 and only 1 died in ww2.
