Hello all,

We are planning a quick trip to DLR in the middle of August. There are two families and we are wondering if it is better to get a suite to share. There will be a total of 3 adults, a 17 year old and 2, 9 year olds. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

We just reserved a suite for the first time last nite. We are staying at Anaheim Desert Inn, and they seem to have a few different options depending on how many people you have going. We have 3 adults and 2 kids, so we thought the extra space would be worth it.

Hi. We are staying at the Ramada Maingate next month in their 3 room suite. It will be me, DH, DS4, DS6 and my parents. It's 950 sq ft. 4 queen beds plus a sofa sleeper and 2 full bathrooms. The proximity to the parks is excellent and free parking, breakfast and wi-fi too. Biggest plus for me is the building they are in is only about a year old. Be aware, they are doing renovations right now to the older buildings, so there is some construction going on. Here is a link:

I know the Desert Inn and Suites is a popular choice here on the Dis but I myself have never stayed there. Have fun planning!

Though it's been mentioned already, I'd like to heartily recommend the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. <http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/>

It's REALLY close and convenient and the rooms are a really good size, IMO. (You can see floor plans on the website.) The rooms come with a good size fridge (about 3 ft tall), a microwave, a laptop+ size safe... The breakfast is minimal, but does have boiled eggs, so you've got protein to start your day. The pool & hot tub are indoor, which I don't like, but that's just me.

I just did a quick search for 8/9 - 8/23 to see if they still have availability. Looks like they do have availability for all of their suite types for those days, so you're good there. I'd hurry up and make the decision, though. The prices are a fair amount higher than their base rates, and they'll only go up. (Their prices start out as low as they go and then increase as the date gets closer.) The rate is still pretty darn good for two families, I think. And still a better rate than I've ever found on any of the other Harbor hotels.

That said, this is no fancy hotel. I'm not particularly choosy when it comes to hotels. I find it to be plenty clean, quiet enough (though those little excited feet running up and down the halls can surely be heard), good sized, a pleasant atmosphere, and a FANTASTIC walk to the parks...

Have fun!!

I dug out my hotel spreadsheet...:rolleyes1

Here's a list of hotels on Harbor Blvd. They're all on the same block that is at the crosswalk heading to the park entrances. On maps, that block looks to be 1/4 mile long. They're listed here from the north to the south. The crosswalk is between the Park Vue Inn and the Desert Inn & Suites. Below I'll also list a few that are not on that block, but are close and seem to be popular options.

I'd look at the Residence Inn Maingate. It is a bit further away, but still easily walkable. The benefit of their suites is that they have full kitchens and if you give them a list they will grocery shop for you! Doing our 2nd stay there this August.

Desert Inn has large rooms. Its a bit dated but you can get large rooms (essentially adjoining rooms) which have two bathrooms and it is literally less than three hundred steps from your room door to the bus drop off/baggage check area.

We stayed ant the Carousel In and Suites. We stayed in one of their resort rooms. It was very nice. 2 rooms 2 bathrooms. One room was like a master suite large king bed (very comfortable) with a table and chairs and a 32 inch flat screen TV and a full bathroom. 2nd room was a very spacious room with 2 queen beds (Very comfy also) a full bathroom and flat screen TV as well. In that room was a mini refrigerator a microwave and safe. Oh and the coffee maker was in that room as well. We had 6 in our party 2 adults, 2 teens, 1 toddler and 1 baby. Oh which by the way the master suite also fit her pack and play crib perfectly with plenty of space left over to move around!! All in all this was a very nice place and the customer service was amazing. Very professional and courteous. There is also a bigger suite that sleeps more. It's located right across the street from Disneyland so its a quick easy walk.

Have you considered renting a place through VRBO? There are a ton of them around Disneyland and they make group stays SO much more comfortable. We could never go back to a hotel after the rental we stayed in on our May trip!

3 bedrooms, full kitchen, walking distance, all the comforts of home :)
