We've got a date (Last week/weekend in June 2005) but haven't settled on a place yet. WDW, Williamsburg, Cape Cod and NH are all in contention. I think that with widely varying budgets, WDW (and particularly FW) make an awful lot of sense.

Anyone out there with expereince planning fr a group this size? Ideally, we'd like to get a set up where the resort (or whatever) would handle everyone's booking directly so no one family member has to do all the planning and the heavy lifting. Seeing the parks WILL NOT be a priority.

Thanks all!

Contact one of the Disney specialist travel agencies, such as Dream Come True Vacations or Dreams Unlimited or Small World Vacations. They can help you arrange things thru the Disney Group travel office, and get you a good group discount.

I second the above opinion...I tried putting one together for only about 40 something people at WDW 3 years ago...and it was an ENORMOUS undertaking....not one I would be anxious to repeat (and I love to plan)

It was a fun time, but I was exhausted when we were done.

With a group that large, I would work with a travel agent--especially if you dont want the headache of organizing the group.
A travel agent will take all of that off your hands.

You can try the owners of this board, or we use Michael @ Cruise Planners/Micore Travel: www.planmycruise.com. They are Disney experts and were wonderful with our group last year of 48 family members.

Good Luck

I sent an email to guest relations once with a question about planning a family reunion for 75, and received a phone call at work (see my tag:D ) from a WDW CM who is helping me plan the event. There are discounts on tickets (convention tickets) and rooms and they can plan whatever you can dream up. We are going to have a picnic on a beach near FW and an Illuminations dessert reception for just our group in a VIP area. Our reunion isn't until Sept 2005, I didn't want to deal with crowds, since we are bringing our own.

The problem I've had is that our original group of 75 has now dropped to 45-50. That's OK for our special events, there needs to be at least 25 in the group. To get the room discount you need to book at least 10 rooms on property, doesn't have to be all at the same resort. the discount is 35% off rack rate. FW was my original choice, but some of the folks we were gonna do that for aren't coming now.

Dennis Edmunds is who I have been in contact with. Very helpful & pleasant, as you would expect any CM to be! I have his email & phone number if you are interested, PM me.

Contact WDW directly. Their Magical Gatherings host will plan the whole event for you and coordinate all the information and activities. Cant get any easier than that.

WDW is great for all the budgets. A cruise is more expensive and might not be doable for larger families or for the elderly who may have special needs.

We are having a Grand Gathering family reunion in Feb 2005. We are planning on doing a few of the GG events. I called to ask about doing a private event and you would have thought I was speaking another language! I was interested in doing a private dessert/ illuminations party. What part of guest services does the CM that has been so helpful work in?
