Family, Friends, & Celebrities- A MAGICAL Birthday TR!!! *UPDATE*8/27! Final thoughts

Hi Tim! :wave2:

I hope Mel is finding some peace these days and is hanging in there.

The pictures of your niece are so adorable as are the pictures of Juliana when she was younger - so cute! My sister is expecting and therefore I will be an aunt in October! Funny thing is she also does not like pink at all and she is expecting a girl and she knows I LOVE pink and all girly things. So, she is letting me indulge and so far has come around a little bit. My sister has always been more into orange's, brown's, etc. So far she has chosen the name Alexa but who knows it might change! I can't wait because I see trips to WDW with Alexa and having tea parties and princesses! This is the best of both worlds - I have my little buddy (growing up fast) and then a little princess to spoil! Congrats again!

Did you start your PTR? I'm so behind it's not even funny....:rotfl:

Love the guy in the backgorund. last trip, when we ate at Cape May we had a kid try to be in all our pictures. He was in at least 50% of them. Some he was really stretching over to get in....

WOW... I hadn't heard that story before. That is awesome!

I didn't start the PTR yet..... Hopefully this week. :)

Mel is doing ok... they scheduled the funeral here in CT for July 26th (Mel's birthday) It just worked out better for everyone on that day.

I should take a pic of Nicolina's room. It sounds like your sister would love it! I don't think there is one pink item in it! :lmao::lmao:

Hi Tim! All caught up. I loved seeing the baby pictures of Julianna. What a cutie!! Epcot looked like a great day!! (except for the little fight) On our last trip we just had so much fun in Epcot. I am really looking forward to doing it again. I love how it is great for adults - great food and great drinks... beautiful setting.... Illuminations and for the kiddos with the mask making and passports and the characters!!

No problem; I fell asleep myself early last night--but slept 10 hours straight (that cough syrup with codine is great!).

Have you got your dates now that you are going to start your PTR?

What's up??????

I'm still getting back into the swing of things here... I need to get back over to your PTR and see what is going on.

It was a nice day in Epcot! Maybe is was because it was after 2 days of rain that made it so great. Our WS days are never long enough. We are always rushing to get through them all.

10 hours sounds like heaven! :cloud9: Maybe I can get to bed early tonight.. But I'm about to finish up my Epcot day. (I HOPE!)

Our dates are not set in stone yet, but it looks like it will be Dec. 1-7. We will not find out for sure until OCTOBER!!!!!! :scared1::scared1:

Good Morning, Tim!! Going back to catch up- how are you?

Good Morning, Tim!! Going back to catch up- how are you?

I'm great! Spend the day boating... couple pics on FB.. We got home much later than we wanted (9pm) but it was a nice day- we didn't want it to end. Melody is already sleeping and I was about to finish up our Epcot day.

I just peeked at your PTR.. I cannot keep up anymore! :scared1:

I saw that on FB!! Looks like you guys had a GREAT time!! Pretty soon, I'll be living 50 yards from the Willamette!! I'm very excited!!

So, we get an update?? Hooray!! :woohoo:

I can barely keep up, but I do enjoy it!! I see Magedalene has posted all about taking a train in Germany- a subject I am particulary interested in right now. :goodvibes

It was a great day! Little busy in the afternoon with 35-45 foot boats flying by us creating some huge wakes but we met up with a photographer I know in a cove and hung out for a while.

Working on the update now!

I saw Magedalene's post.. Very in-depth! My question is- did she go take those pics for you or did she have all those pics on her camera already? ;) :lmao:

She recently went to Nuremberg for a friend's wedding, and probably took them then- knowing she would help me out later by posting them. Isn't she thoughtful?

When Dave and I got off TT, we called the girls and they were still in Mouse Gears. We headed over to meet them. When we walked into the store it smelled really bad! I can't really place the smell but it was like a cross between a skunk, a stink bomb, and stale flatulence. We only stayed in the store for a few minutes and we talked Mel & Branda into riding TT. I can't believe they said yes after the experience Dave & I just had. LOL

While the girls were riding, Dave, the kids, and I, headed back to a stand in Mexico to grab some dinner. We stopped at a little stand called Taqueria del Lago. We got some quesadillas, taquitos, and nachos. We found a tall table to stand at and we got the kids eating. It was nice looking over the WS lagoon watching the sunset.

Not the best pic....

The wives met back up with us and had a bite to eat. I gave my sweat shirt to Juliana- she was getting cold. Once the sun went down it did get pretty chilly. We finished up eating and walked around the lagoon for a few minutes and stopped in a few shops. I ended up buying Mel a Mickey garden gnome that she was eyeing all day along with a Mickey wind chime. It was almost 7pm. We still had Soarin' FPs in our pockets and I wasn't leaving till we used them.

On our walk over to Soarin'

We parked our strollers outside and headed into The Land. Melody & I asked Juliana if she wanted to ride Soarin' with us and without hesitation she said 'Yes'! There was no pleading, prodding, or bribing her- Juliana just wanted to go with us. Our little girl is growing up.:sad1: We split up from our friends and walked into the FP line.

DSC08767.jpg

The FP line was long and it was taking a long time to get to the que. During the wait Juliana was getting a little nervous but she was excited to be going on the ride. Finally we saw the pre-show and we were walking into the ride. I was able to snap a pic of us before I got yelled at. (woops!)

DSC08769.jpg

Both Melody and I were holding Juliana's hands and the ride started. She was focusing on the screen and did great! We were so proud of her! She said she loved it and wanted to ride it again. LOL

We walked off and met back up with Dave & Branda. They were debating whether to ride Soarin' or not. I said we were here now so just go ride it. Juliana was bugin us about riding in 'the big ball' as she calls it, so we took all 3 kids to Spaceship Earth while Dave & Branda rode Soarin'.

We walked onto S.E. with no wait. I sat with Alex and Melody sat with Victoria & Juliana. The kids really enjoyed the ride. Here is Alex & me from the future.

Guess I have the infamous hole in my head.

We were only off S.E. for about 5 minutes when Branda called Mel telling her they were already off Soarin'. Man that was fast! It was 8:50 and Illuminations was starting in 10 minutes. We made the decision that the kids had enough and it was a long day in Epcot. We still had to get packing- there wasn't going to be much 'partying' this night. We walked back to the car and as we were loading up, we could hear and see some of the fireworks. Illuminations would had to wait to be seen another time.

It was the last night in the rental house. We would be checking out tomorrow. Dave, Branda, and the kids would be starting their trek back to Indiana, while Melody, Juliana, and I would be checking into a pirate room at CBR.

Up next... saying goodbye, another birthday (party), & CBR pirate:

Great update! I think Soarin is a great ride for kids to try out more adventurous things. While it has a certain thrill to it to be in the air, it is still very mild and nothing scary happens at all! :thumbsup2 I am glad that Juliana enjoyed it.

No, normally I don't just take pics of random aspects of everyday life here at home! :goodvibes Liesa is right. I was travelling to a friend's wedding and therefore had my camera with me. Sitting on the train I thought I could kill some time by taking a few pictures and then I had more and more ideas of what could be useful... :rolleyes1 It was fun, but I got some stares from people as well. I wonder what they were thinking when I was taking a picture of the garbage cans :lmao:

Well, at least you draw the line at the backs of restroom stalls' doors. :lmao: Even if they do have poo facts on them.

Awwww... she's growing up, all right! Now there's another Soarin' lover out there in the world :cool1: Can't wait to hear how you liked the pirate room... and CBR in general. It's one of the resorts I have on my list of visiting some time... and would love to hear whether or not the pirate room is worth it. Great pictures :thumbsup2

NO pictures of the tacos??

I really like the orange fountain picture, too!!

Nothing worse than walking into a place at Disney and getting hit with...the stench. :lmao:

You got some beautiful night shots, there, but I'm most fond of the picture of the three of you on Soarin'. Juliana looks like the perfect combination of why am I doing this and oh I'm so excited. Too cute. :goodvibes

Sounds like a great evening and good way to wrap up a park day with your friends. :thumbsup2

Very cool. Growing up indeed. It's neat when they start to experience some of the bigger attractions, and like them too.

:welcome:
to my TR!!!!!!

1900 PF is such a fun restaurant... and the food is good too! :goodvibes I think you will enjoy yourself there. How old are your kid(s)?

Thank you. I dont have kids I am actually taking my sister for her 1st visit. She is 15 but I think she will enjoy it

What a wonderful end to the day! So proud of Juliana for braving Soarin! :woohoo:

How nice of you to buy Mel that garden gnome and windchime. I've been eyeing the Mickey garden gnomes for sometime myself. As a matter of fact, I have a long shopping list for our trip next year! I guess I better start saving now.

I can't wait to see pics of the Pirate room. Sorry to see Dave, Branda and the kids go, though... :guilty:
