Fall 2012 Professional Internships

Thank you Erin! I think I'll just try to relax and answer each question as best I can and think of it as an in-person interview and I should be fine :)

I had my interview today and I almost wasn't able to answer the call! I have to use Google voice until I get my new cell phone and when I tried to answer the call, she couldn't hear me so she left a message and luckily called back :scared1:

I had prepared by having my top 5 choices' info in front of me but when we got to the point where she was running down a list of my applications, only the first and 4th ones she mentioned were ones I thought we were going to discuss! My first choice was Adventures by Disney and I think she could tell I was extremely interested in that one (she asked if I was smiling ear to ear because she could hear a definite smile in my voice :goodvibes). Then we talked about the 2 internships (I had 4 other ones that were "in progress" stages so I thought for sure she was going to ask about those) but I was able to tell her why I chose them so all in all I think the interview went well.

So after checking my Dashboard a couple hours after the interview, Adventures by Disney shows "interview stage" which I hope is good! and now the long wait.......

Hope you get your top choice! I had my phone interviews last night for two PI internships. It went well, we got through a lot of questions and somehow the interview only lasted 15 minutes. It was definitely more throrough than the college program. I'm full of anticipation waiting to hear back!

Hi all! I applied for the College Program and a few Professional Internships as well. I actually already was accepted to the CP! but today I got an e-mail to interview for a PI!! I have been reading over interview questions and trying to prep for my interview which is next Tuesday.

Also, I don't know much about the PI program. Is it full time? How much does it pay?

Good luck to everyone and have a magical evening!

Congratulations on getting accepted into the CP! As far as the PI, I have read that it is full time and as far as pay someone said that it pays usually between $14-16 per hour but I've also heard it can pay more (like $18-24) depending on the internship. I searched Glassdoor.com and it gives various answers as far as internships. If someone has a more concrete answer, please let us know!

A PI is typically a full-time role, but each one differs depending on the role itself and the department it is with. Pay ranges start at about $9/$10 per hour and go to over $20 per hour (I think). Again, it depends entirely on the role and more specialized roles (think accounting or tech) tend to be paid more. Management roles are actually paid on a salary basis though.

I just applied for some Animal Programs Professional Internships and I was invited by email for a panel phone interview that will last 30 minutes. Does anyone know of any threads/blogs/what-have-you that might help me prepare for this? I found A LOT of information when I applied for the College Program last year (for which I was accepted :goodvibes and it was the best five months of my life) but I'm having trouble finding help now. I've just never heard of a panel phone interview. What does that entail? Anyone have any tips? It's two weeks away and I'm already so nervous!

:hippie:

I am so upset! I just missed a call from Disney Casting this evening around 6:04 p.m. I'm using Google Voice until I get my cell phone and I had just plugged in my headset and laid it down and was typing an email when I saw I had a missed call (unknown). She left a message saying she was from Disney Casting and had some questions regarding the professional internship applications (I had my interview this past Monday on the 20th) and left a # to call her back.

I called back within 4 mins but had to leave a message. I told her she could reach me this evening or tomorrow afternoon after 2 pm Pacific time. I hope she calls back! This could be a good thing, right? I'm in "interview stage" for Adventures by Disney.

UPDATE (If anyone is interested :rotfl2:): Disney casting did call me back this morning (proof they WILL call you back so no worries!) and she just needed to ask some questions regarding the WDPRO Finance internship (which wasn't discussed in the preliminary interview). She said she will pass the information along to the manager and to watch for an email or update in my Dashboard. My Dashboard now says "interview stage" which I hope is good because now I have two in that stage (Adventures by Disney and WDPRO Finance).

The WDPRO finance internship sounds cool. What does it entail?

How is everyone doing with their PI applications and interviews? I had my first interview today. It was definitely more challenging than the CP interview! My interviewer was so fantastic. I want to be friends with him.:laughing: Anyway, hope everyone is doing well in the process!

I had my interview about a week and a half ago. My interviewer was very excited and happy and really helped with the interview. I totally agree that it was more challenging than the CP interview. A lot more situation questions. Anyways, I went ahead and accepted the CP program and guess I'll just wait to see if I get a PI. Whats funny is I applied for two more PI's after my interview and it shows on the dashboard that they are in the interview stage. So I'm guessing that I'm being considered for those as well now. Guess we will see. Good Luck!

I am pretty much in the same boat! I also accepted the CP offer but would definitely take a PI over the CP!

I had my interview on Feb 20th and received a call 3 days later on Thurs evening (Feb 23rd) at 6:04 pm - she left a message saying she had a cple more questions regarding one of the PI's I applied for. I called her back within 4 minutes & she returned my call Friday morning asking questions about the WDPRO Finance Internship. I wasn't very prepared and don't feel I did very well :sad2: But now I have two that are in interview stage (WDPRO Finance and Adventures by Disney) and several in submission. I keep hoping the other two top choices we spoke about in the interview will change from submission to interview stage.

Hope we all hear something positive by next week :worship:

I applied to the Biotechnology Internship under the Agricultural Sciences department at the Land attraction in Epcot. Anyone know more information about this internship position or any tips on securing the position? Thanks!

So I had my phone interview on 3/2. At that time one position was in the phone interview stage and the other two were in submission. Now all three are at the interview stage, and I'm just hoping I get something.

I check the dashboard every time I'm on a computer, but I don't know. I think the phone interview went well, but you can never be too sure. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone who's waiting for that magical call from Disney. :cheer2:

I got an interview with Animal Kingdom this Thursday!! Any common interview questions?

So this is my first time on the boards after watching for awhile. I applied the day the applications went live on 1/23 and had my interview on 1/30 and have been stuck at the dreaded interview stage since.

Anyway... I applied to 4 alumni only internships. Ive heard these are some of the last ones to find out. I'm just so anxious, anyone else apply for alumni PIs? If so which ones? I applied for Disney Traditions, MK Project support, Recreation Auditor and guest relations.

Hey sara!

I know A LOT of people have applied for various alumni roles, myself included (GR, DTD project support, Park event ops) The general consensus judging from past seasons is that most (not all) alumni roles will not have a second interview--apparently they decide based on your resume and screening interview.
