Fake Tiffany VENT

And you didn't verify authenticity before you bought the piece why? Because the owner has a claim of all pieces being authentic? Does she also have a sign that says any piece that is not authentic will be taken back no questions asked? What's her return policy?

Regardless, it was YOUR "rookie" mistake to not verify authenticity FIRST. Doesn't matter what her store claims. You trusted an unauthorized Tiffany vendor?? That's IMO the exact same thing as buying stuff off of ebay and being cheesed off when it turns out to be a fake.

Now...that aside. It would be nice if the store owner stood by her claim of authenticity and refunded your money.

That ship has probably passed. If the OP wanted a refund, she could have handled the whole thing a little differently. And who knows, maybe the shop owner is a bigger expert than the OP and it was a real Tiffany.

ok I am selling the shoes because they don't fit well. DBF is in agreement. He read that they run small so he bought them a half a size bigger and they are too big. I wanted to return them, we were in the process of moving it got placed on the back burner and the place had a 30 day return policy and we just ended up with them. I wore them twice and they don't fit right.

I would NEVER disrespect him by taking a gift and re gifting or reselling without talking to him first.

As far as MY trying to scam her by bringing back a different piece. That would be difficult this piece is used and needed to be tumbled and polished. She ADVERTISES that all her merchandise is verified so I believed her.

I could just go to Tiffany but I saw a bracelet that was USED for a reasonable price in a store. I bought it, got it home and saw that it was fake. She needs to take it back, end of story!

I knew some of you would be your typical cynical evil selves. You are not hurting me. I expect it on this board.

DO NOT bring my daughter into this I find that truly disgusting!

I'm with you OP on this one. If the store owner is advertising that her second hand merchandise has been verified for authenticity then she should be able to show proof that your bracelet has been inspected and is real. As a shop owner, that is what protects her reputation and also from being scammed by people who do buy and then try to return fakes. (not meaning you).
Yes, as a customer you should have inspected it before you left, but since she is advertising authentic verified pieces she has a responsibilty to take it back. You need to go to a Tiffany store or another jeweler and get your proof, and then go back to her demanding a return.
This sounds like a case of false advertising to me. She is not selling on Craigslist, she is a store owner, and most likely has to follow consumer laws.Of course that probably varies by State. I don't know where you are, but all it takes is the internet to find out what if any laws she is in violation of. I'd also do that before I went in demanding a refund. Good luck :goodvibes

It seems as if OP has the wrong sizes, and thus needed to sell the shoes, but not sure why she needed to name drop anyway?

OP said she could just go to Tiffany and buy the real thing - is that from her own pocket, or from boyfrieind's? If from hers, then there is no need to buy jewelry secondhand, nor sell shoes to afford a trip to Disney, and problem of fake jewelry is solved as that would mean she has enough money to purchase the real thing, and avoid these kinds of issues. If it's with the boyfriend's money, then why not ask boyfriend to fund trips to Disney also, maybe they can be a gift instead of a new purse or shoes?

Not sure what is the best avenue here, seeing as how OP is buying jewelry from a secondhand shop. I don't buy anything secondhand, but would absolutely not buy jewelry, unless I took a loop along to authenticate it at place of purchase. The shop owner could have been scammed when she originally acquired the piece, and now she has unwittingly sold that to OP, or, shopowner knew it was fake. Can't really prove anything at this point, as it's a secondhand shop, so I don't think there is any warranty or guarantee applicable here.

Dear god OP, what a horrific plight. I can't imagine the sheer horror that each waking moment brings for you right now. I thought I'd seen and heard it all, what with wars, terrorism, diseases, crime, abuse etc. But fake Tiffany jewellery? I feel physically sick. May God bless you and grant you the strength to get through this.

Where's the 'like' button?!?

Op just have him ( BF) pay for you Disney and High End jewelry/ bag/ shoe fetish. Why even bother penny pinching if you have someone who can afford it and want to buy it for you.

As for your Lou's I have three pair but I have a normal size 8 foot. So I buy the 1/2. The rule only applies to normal feet. Maybe you have slim feet so you can wear your true size.

Bottom line if you have expensive taste and you want the real thing you gotta pay the ching-ching. Since DD I've slowed my high-end buying down but i'd rather buy one a year that real than to ever have to wonder about if it's real or not.

BTW You can probably exchange the shoes for size even 30 days out.

I found a thread by OP where the boyfriend bought her a used mink from the Consignment store and she was too broke to store/care for it.

OK-I really think High end designer clothes to the OP are like a compulsion, maybe?
Who nowadays even wears fur?:confused3

I like designer clothes, but buy them at TJMaxx and Marshalls.

But I think the OP is desiring the really, really expensive clothes and wears used stuff because its the only way she can afford them-which completely creeps me out.(Wearing used clothes)

As far as jewelry-no way I'd buy that used-unless it was from an antique store that specializes in it.

Wow, you guys sure are nasty this morning. Isn't there some rule about taking Sunday's off. The OP didn't come here for a psych evaluation, do you guys really have nothing better to do that pick her apart, searching for past posts etc. Its the last weekend of the summer, maybe some of you need to get a hobby.

What I don't get is why you would even need something as silly as Christian Louboutin shoes or a Louis Vuitton bag. There are thousands of children in third-world countries who would do anything to have one pair of shoes to keep their feet from getting cut. That's what a shoe does, and if my seven-dollar-on-sale Payless shoes do just that, I'm fine with them. My jeans are not designer, heck, they're not even juniors jeans because they're too expensive. I wear fifteen-dollar-Kmart jeans because they do what they were designed to do-cover my butt!

In times like this, I don't understand why more people are simply grateful for what they have. You will not die if you wear that god-awful fake Tiffany piece to work. In fact, most people won't care. They might compliment you, you can thank them, and life goes on. You have a roof over your head, clothes to wear, and food to eat. There's nothing wrong with being thankful for that.

The bottom line here is not the issue of the OP bragging about liking high end items and whether she should or not. It is that the consignment store said the bracelet was authentic and it turns out it wasn't. Yes the buyer beware should come into place, but the store owner should honor her claim and either refund or give a store credit.

Consider it two lessons learned:

1. Don't buy something designer second hand without verifying it first.
2. Don't buy designer stuff from that shop because the owner is either a scam artist or incompetent.

In the OP's defense, she never said she wasn't thankful, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying some nice things in life. You really have no idea if she gives to charity or doesn't give to charity.

You know, for the cost of the cruise you went on, you could have fed a lot of hungry children. You didn't need to go on a cruise, why couldn't you have just been happy and grateful with what you have?

What have you done to help those causes? Have sold sold your house and belongings to help out? You don't need furniture you know. How do you know what she does and does't do for charity. If you enjoy going through out live living cheap, good for you.

There's only one ugly thing in this picture, and it ain't Sean Connery. :lmao:

Because for people who buy it NEW it is a status symbol. I think this is what OP was saying about some may understand some may not. Some people aren't going through "hard times" rough but not hard. No one said they would die or aren't grateful for the life they have. SOME people enjoy the finer things in life.

Since she's about 15 years old I believe, her parents might get a bit pissed to find out she sold the house.

That's not fair at all. How do you know she doesn't run a non-profit? Or that she sells her things to earn money for Disney because she gives so much to charity each year? It's not your job to police how she spends her own money or how her bf spends his. Every single one of us posting enjoys something we REALLY don't need...the internet.

I'm not going to pretend to understand the thrill people get from having expensive merchandise as a status symbol, especially when you have to buy it on the cheap to do so (thereby negating the status of having enough money to afford the conspicuous consumption).

Nonetheless, if the store owner is going to advertise and guarantee that the items she sells are authentic, she has a legal obligation to make it true.

One problem in today's marketplace, however, is that many high-end brands do make lower priced and lower quality goods to sell in locations separate from their "real" stores, but under the same label. So the consumer and the marketplace are confused as to the combination of name and quality. I don't know if Tiffany's uses this practice or not, however, so I don't know if the store owner's confusion is genuine because of legal labeling but differential quality or if she does not take the time to truly authenticate her pieces.

(The sales of lower quality lower priced goods under the same label is a foolish long-term strategy because over time, as more and more people can afford what appears to be the real deal, it's less and less of a status symbol to own it. Lower quality also means that the reputation of the brand suffers. Also the way even high end retailers like Gucci farm out their manufacturing to China and African countries -- all you have to do is have the handle attached to the purse in Italy to get the "made in Italy" label -- means that there is no intrinsic qualitative difference in workmanship between a super expensive purse and one far more cheap since they were made under the same conditions.)
