We returned late last week from yet another wonderful Disney trip and had an amazing time.

I took the laptop with great expectations of doing a "live" trip report but, alas, there just was not enough time in each day. I never even turned the thing on, much less figured out the internet connection! :goodvibes

Anyway, we were in a dedicated 2Br and it was in wonderful shape. I made sure to make a complete walk through upon arrival and checked EVERYTHING and all was in beautiful condition and in working order. Not a single light bulb burned out or a crumb on the floor. The only minor issue was that we had a very loud sliding glass door in the family room but it was taken care of ASAP.

Our mousekeeper, Murielle M. had done a wonderful job so I called housekeeping right away. I first asked for a regular crib to be delivered and then asked to leave a message for the head of housekeeping ... there was a brief pause from the CM I was speaking with and then she polietly asked if I would like to speak with her instead of leaving a message. I said "sure, and not to worry, I am calling with a compliment, not a complaint!" She laughed and put me right through ... I spoke with Millie and told her how happy we were with the condition of the room and the job that Murielle had done. She thanked me for calling, promised to put a note in Murielle's file and asked if there was anything else we needed. I reiterated about the crib, but before we could finish our conversation there was a knock at the door ... the crib had arrived and so had someone to fix the sliding door! :thumbsup2

We were there for 7 nights so we received T&T service on day 4 ... another great job by Murielle! All trash was taken out, liners replaced and every towel that had been used was replaced, too. All supplies were restocked, except the laundry detergent but we had received 2 to start off with so this was no big deal. T&T during our past 2 trips to VWL had been done quite differently ... no trash actually removed, and just a stack of new towels placed on each bed. To be fair, we take our trash out daily so there was never much to remove, but having the towels replaced on the racks and tub is a nice touch.

Now, I have to say, we have a new favorite room ... and I have to correct my previous thoughts about fireworks views from the VWL. We were in villa 5537 and had a beautiful view of the lake through the trees and at 9:00 we discovered that we could sit on our balcony and watch Wishes!! Now, it was over the rooftop of the lodge, and slightly blocked by the roof of the balcony of 5535 (a 1Br) but they were beautiful and fully visible. About 10 minutes after the conclusion of the fireworks along came the Electric Water Parade that we were able to sit and watch that, too! During the day we watched many deer in the woods infront of our villas.

I hope to do a trip report and post pictures soon, but in case that doesn't happen I wanted to make sure to post about the wonderful condition of our villa and the wonderful job that mousekeeping did!

Great report! I don't blame you one bit for not turning on the laptop.

Now about these deer... I've seen them over at Ft W., but never as far as VWL. You sure they weren't just overgrown Bunnies? everything does grow larger in the south.

I do love AKV, but my heart is with VWL. I can't wait to see it in December! (Going for a 3 night weekend & just had one night of the waitlist filled!)

:goodvibes it's a great resort, isn't it? glad to hear all is well there:thumbsup2

Sounds wonderful. I will be staying in my first dedicated 2 bedroom this December:santa: at VWL and I can't wait. I am taking my sister and her family along and giving them the second bedroom. Was there enough room in the 2nd bedroom for a crib or did you just put that in the livingroom? Any info and pics if possible would be appreciated.
Thanks.

OK, here is a view looking straight out from the family room balcony:

Now, I'm a Texas girl and am pretty sure I know what deer look like, but just in case ... ;)

These two appeared every afternoon. We would see them approaching on the "cart/exercise" path that leads to Fort Wilderness and then they would forage around for a half hour or so before moving on.

The older kids (5&3) really enjoyed watching for them while baby brother took his nap every afternoon.

Thank you! You are the second person in the last couple of days to post a good report about mousekeeping at VWL and you called to report this compliment to a supervisor! It would be just great if all DVCers took a couple of minutes to express gratitude when mousekeeping does a super job. Glad to hear that your trip was magical. :goodvibes

We probably crossed paths at some point as we were there last week too! We had a very nice visit and stay. We don't often stay at VWL as the points are a little high but it was oh so nice to be that close to the MK. We enjoyed the pool area and the theming of the resort. It was our 3rd stay there. Our room was in good condition too although I thought we were missing bowls for cereal and I was 'this close' to calling about it when I realized that the bowls were really shallow and in the shelf they just looked like plates!

The busses were pretty good, although we mostly only used it for MK.

I think what I miss most is that beautiful themed music throughout the resort...

Glad you had a great trip! We were right down the hall from you in the atrium area, room 5523, dedicated 1 bed. First time on 5th floor, hopefully not the last;)

We placed the full size crib in the closet of the second bedroom ... that thing is HUGE!! There was plenty of room for the crib and since it is on the other side of the bathroom from the two queen beds it provided a bit of a buffer for the baby. The closet in the master bedroom was big enough for the pack 'n play, but our little one did better sleeping in the full size crib. My only concern was lack of air circulation, so we left the door to the closet open 8 - 10 inches and then I had also packed a nightlight that we placed in the vanity area. The arrangement worked well for all of us. I'm pretty sure I took some pictures, let me sort through the 1000+ (I know, I know) and I'll see what I can find.

Thanks for the great report! We will be staying at VWL for the first time on June 7th in a dedicated 2 BR for 4 nights. I hope we are as lucky to get such a great view!

Any suggestions for must do's around the resort?

We are staying in a 1 bedroom this August. Do you recommend the 5th floor? We have never stayed at VWL and am looking for a good recommendation to request for our room. What type of views are available from the 1 bedrooms?

So glad to hear you had such a nice time at VWL. Never stayed there but it on my list to do so soon.

You are VERY welcome, and I promise to continue doing this on future trips! :thumbsup2

Actually, you were the DISer that prompted me to do this after reading and posting on a thread a few months back.

I had always made a point to recognize outstanding CMs on past trips but am embarrassed to say that I never thought to do the same for the hard working mousekeeping staff -- thanks for the idea!

Isn't VWL just gorgeous? We just returned from our first stay there and we were very impressed. Two different housekeepers and two outstanding jobs. Great going VWL!

Glad you had a great trip.

More Please. Nice touch to thank Mousekeeping for a job well done. I never thought to do that either. You sure the “deer” you saw was not a Kudu that escaped Animal Kingdom?

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip! I am planning a trip to VWL for May 2010 and love to hear positive comments. When you have time I would love to see some photos of the villa. Thanks again for the report!!

That's a great idea and I'm sure will work really well for my DS, DBIL and DNiece who will almost be 4 by the trip. She can have the second bed and the baby will have her own "little" room without distractions. When did you request the crib - with your reservation or before you arrived?
Thanks.
