Extra Towel ?'s

So we are planning on purchasing the extra towel package for our stay in the next few weeks. DD's need to "wash" their hair after each visit to the pool and I'm a "have to shower in the morning" person but need to shower before bed after being in the parks all day.

So my question is how to I get it? Do I ask and pay for it at check-in? Do I try and flag down Mousekeeping or will they be informed and bring it to the room regardless of if we are present or not?

We will be in a studio so towels for 4 would be the norm..will that be what we purchase for the $6 fee? Do we have them taken away on Trash and Towel day or can we keep and wash the set we paid for at the pool laundry facility?

Any advice appreciated.

You will get four bath towels, two hand towels, four face cloths and a tub mat. When they do trash and towel service, you 'll need to order another set.

I believe they'll replace the towel set on the T&T day if you alert them, if not, you can call and they will replace them. I don't recall anyone having to pay for a second set but maybe I missed it. Of course they can always throw them in the W/D while at the pool.

I was hoping that we could keep and wash the set we paid for. At this time we are considering refusing the Mousekeeping as we will be able to wash our towels, bringing bedding that is fitted to avoid the dreaded sheets pulling off and will have our own toiletries so no need for replacement of that.

We also will be emptying our trash daily, will only need extra trash bags which I can just ask for from Mousekeeping.

My biggest question is now how do we get the extra set?

Just call housekeeping and ask for it. You may or may not get charged. Having the items in the W/D at the time of T&T is often beneficial as well.

So I call mousekeeping and request the extra set rather than go through the front desk? I have no problem paying the $6 fee for this service. Is it mousekeeping who notifies the front desk of the charges?

This is all done through Housekeeping. You call them, they bring the towels, and they do the billing. The same with ordering extra detergent, etc.

If we need extra towels, we take them from the swimming pool and return them there the next day. We're usually close to a small pool and there's plenty of towels there.
I'm not really sure if it's allowed, and I wouldn't do it if there weren't many so people at the swimming pool would end up having none, but there's always more than plenty.
Personally I wouldn't pay for extra towels.

Sorry, that's not permitted. It costs more to launder pool towels because of the body oils, sunscreen, etc, so DVC asks us not to take towels from the pool bins to our villas. If you wrap up in a towel to keep from dripping all over the place or you are cold, that a different thing. Just don't grab a stash of towels from the pool bins to use in your villa.

ehhh... okay... point taken :duck:

Still wouldn't pay for extra towels though :rolleyes1
I'd prefer to put them in the washer/dryer

Have read the "not supposed to take from the pool" threads so am fully aware that this is a no no which is why I plan to purchase the package. Given that we will be showering before leaving for the parks and coming home late and showering again before bed there really isn't time to launder them on our park days and nothing is worse than having to try and dry yourself with a damp towel. Being in a studio we won't have the in room machines to just throw a load in before we leave for the day. $6 really isn't that much money for the luxury of dry towels IMO

I understand what you are saying. The only thought I have is where will you hang the extra set. We've only stayed in studios at BLT and BWV but neither had a extra towel rack. I guess over the shower rod? I think that is what we did at CSR when we had three adults in a room once.

When you think about it, $6 for the extra towels is not a bad price and it keeps our dues down. Free extra towels would be popular but the cost of laundry and purchasing more towels would add up and raise the dues.

I agree that the extra $6 is not that bad a price, but being a single mum travelling overseas with two kids (I pay about $1500 only for my plane tickets), I'm trying to cut the extra costs wherever I can. If my situation was different I probably wouldn't even blink an eye about paying for that kind of extras if I wanted them.
So sorry for even suggesting that

I'm taking a group of teens to WDW in June and we're staying in a GV. I figure I'll need at least three towel packs every four days on top of the towels in the room already. So if I can't afford an extra $18 twice, I'd better just stay home.

Thats exactly what we were told to do by Bell Services as they drove us to our villa!

I guess it is pretty clear that the Bell Services folks don't pay dues. As stated, DVC asks us not to take pool towels to our room to use.

I love the fact that when we bought in last year our guide told us we should do this if we needed more towels.

Didn't mean to start a controversy over "to use pool towels or not" Have every intention of purchasing the towel package just wanted to know how to go about doing it and if we could keep them for the length of our stay. As for where to hang the extra towel...I bring an extra over the door rack or we just hang then on the hangers(buy the clips) to dry in the closet. After each person is done in the morning we will switch so that the dry towels are there for the evening.
