Hello! Please don't flame me, I am just loking for ideas on how to handle this. We are booked for 2 rooms in Sports, party of 8. My nephew has had a really bad year...he's 6. His father died a couple of months ago. His grandma said she would pay for him if he could join us. I was on the WDW site and there are no more value rooms, no ASMu family suites. It looks like everything is getting pretty full, and I can't afford to jump up to deluxe (would still need two deluxe rooms) just to take him. Can anybody think of a way I could make this work or should I just tell his grandma it is impossible?

Did you call WDW? I was on the phone with them at 8:30pm and there was an ASmusic suite available.

"really" dont want to take him....if I had a 6 year old nephew who's dad died a few months earlier, I would take a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor myself..........Surely there are alternatives, even if it means staying at a hotel offsite.....make room for the kid......at least you will put a smile on his face when you say.........."We're taking you to Disney World!!!!!"

We booked through a TA, so I can't call WDW. I sent an email to TA to check it out for me ASAP! Thanks!

APK - There is absolutely no reason to attack the OP or accuse them of not really wanting to take their nephew.
I can't believe the exceptional rudeness and presumption of that. Who are you to judge or accuse them.
They ask a legitimate question as you cannot have more than 4 per room at the value resorts and " a sleeping bag on the floor is NOT an option."

I would suggest calling and speaking to CRO. Website is often wrong.
They may have an ASM suite available or possibly a deal for you at the POR, a moderate.
There you could get rooms with a trundle bed that would sleep 5.

Best of luck!

"really" dont want to take him....

What a horrible thing to say. I realy do want to take him, but can't afford to lose $$ by canceling and moving off-site(pd in full- leaving in 32 days) or pay for 2 deluxe rooms. I would gladly sleep on the floor if Disney would allow 5 people in one of the rooms. My desire to m ake his dreams come true is not an issue here, I'm just trying to figure out the "best" way to accomplish this.

What about jumping up to a two bedroom in Animal Kingdom Lodge? I believe they sleep 9. I don't know what your TA rates were so I have no idea what the price difference would be but it shouldn't be the equivalent of two deluxe rooms greater.

There's some availability at POR for Dec 19-27 but not for the night of the 27th,unfortunately. That's just online though, maybe your TA can work something out.
Is anyone in your party under 3 years old ? If so they don't count towards the maximum number of occupants per room.

APK.. what a stupid, heartless thing to say. If you don't know what you're talking about (and you don't, since you didn't understand that the OP's problem is due to WDW regulations), do yourself and everyone else a favor : don't post.

Don't go by what the website says. Get in touch with your TA asap and see what they can do for you.

I would deffinately try to get in touch with them. If you can put a smile on his face that would be wonderful! Even if you have to switch up to a different resort. Good luck!! And hope everything works out for you! :)

I agree with calling CRO directly. Explain to them the situation and maybe they can work some Magic for you. We stayed at POR last August and it was wonderful. Maybe you could use one of the fall codes. (Not sure if there is any codes for this time of year but it is worth a try.) If you can't get a code maybe Grandma would be willing to help pay for the difference between value and POR. Don't give up until you talk to Disney in person. Beside you are talking about Disney around Christmas so there may be magic in the air!!! Best of luck and keep us posted!

See if your TA can get you POR. It's definitely not as expensive as a deluxe, not much more than a value and you can sleep 5 legally. Good luck.
