Extra Magic Hours Still Exist

I agree that at this point it doesn't completely matter because we don't know for sure what will happen. However we always conjecture about a lot of things on these forums and this is just one more topic. My style of planning is to be prepared for any eventuality because as already stated you never know and it's wise to make logical guesses. Therefore I like the conjecture but if I didn't I know how to avoid the threads that discuss these things.

As for people still going, not everyone. Many that I know have quit going or have severely cut back and that all makes a difference. Personally I'm in the severely cut back group due to many, many factors but that's another discussion.

How long have you been going to the parks? We have been going for over 35 years. Lots of things have come and gone in that time and none of it worth worrying over is my point.

Not really sure why length of time is relevant but my first trip to Disney was in 1977. All I really remember is the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Pirates of the Caribbean rides. Pirates because it was my Mom's favorite and Leagues because I had an epic meltdown on line in the summer heat.

That said, now that I have my own kids I have gone countless times since Nov 2003. At first we drove down twice a year from NY. Then in 2008 we moved to Boca and have a 3 hour drive to Orlando. We generally go about 4 times a year now, but a few years back we probably went 10 times for quick Fri-Sun weekend trips. I don't really remember much from the 70s but the difference just from 2003 to today is remarkable (and not in a good way).

Does that now qualify me to have an opinion?

It makes me sad to see what Iger is doing to the Parks and I simply will not support it. Our last trip for at least 2-3 years is in August. When they actually open Star Wars land, if they haven't switched to using your magic bands for per minute access pricing, we might go back. For the next few years it will be Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Aquatica, Bush Gardens and maybe Discovery Cove.

For some reason on this forum many seem to really take all of this way too seriously and get upset easily. I don't believe I have told anyone what they can or can't do. Where did I say, You can't discuss this?

I simply stated my opinion. Go right ahead and worry to your heart's content. I don't think it will change anything though is my point.
You didn't say "you can't discuss this," you're right. The Chicken Little reference, however, is quite dismissive. Whether it was your intention, I don't know, but all it communicated to me was that those opinions are foolish/don't matter/shouldn't be bothered to discuss.. Like I said, not saying that was your intention, but I can see how it could come across to people that way.

My point is worrying about it is going to change nothing. Therefore I see no need to worry about things that have not even happened. Exercise in futility to me. But certainly if others wish to worry about what might happen, that is certainly their right.
You see it as an exercise in futility..I don't. I've seen Disneyland change decisions...even decisions that were officially announced..because of the backlash it generated in their fans. Disney does pay attention to the emails they receive, social media, etc. Is disney reading every post? No, certainly not..but if no one ever posted an opinion about something at disney until it were officially announced as happening or going away, there would be a lot less discussion here overall.

I don't see anyone getting upset here except for you, and as for me I'm not worried in the slightest. So my heart's plenty content already.

Anytime someone veers from discussing the issue (Disney) to discussing other posters (Chicken Littles, How Long Have You been Going, Etc...) they have made a wrong turn.

I definitely agree. However if you go back and read the original post, OP was complaining about the hyperbole in the forums regarding EMH possibly going away, and asking people to stop speculating about Disney ending EMH because it was confusing other readers who took it as fact. So in this case, discussing other posters actually WAS the topic. Or, on the other hand, you could say that the original post made the initial wrong turn.

I also find it ironic that a post saying there's too much hyperbole about EMH results in more hyperbole about all the Chicken Littles who are panicking and worrying about "the end of EMH and all that is good about Disney". I can't speak for other threads, but I didn't notice anyone here panicking or worrying.

I don't think I ever said EMH will never end. I simply said, it has not happened and no one knows for sure.

As to whether one is more logical than another is strictly personal opinion.

But it has happened ... already. Just look at April.

The thing is I apologized for the Chicken Little comment and said maybe that was not the right term, ironically that was overlooked.

And I totally agree, if this addition bothers anyone, then yes contact Disney.

Not upset in the least. Could care less about what they add or take away. We will still go and have a fabulous time as we have for years. Nothing remains the same and that is a good. Change is good.

I simply would prefer if someone is going to quote me, please do it accurately. Thanks.

The topic of this thread was discussion of that many are stating EMH being removed is a done deal. So actually I was on topic and agreeing with the OP.

Simply that if one has gone for years, one has seen changes come and go and yet we are all still going. I personally don't think adding this paid event means the death of EMH, but honestly none of us know for sure. And totally agree if going is something you no longer enjoy then yes going elsewhere.

There are EMH for April? If you are going to say they have changed. That does not mean they did away with EMH. They have always changed them seasonally. Until there are absolutely no EMH at any park, then they still exist.

So did I pass the test? Is my history long enough to be able to have a valid opinion? I have gone for years. I have seen changes come and go. I cannot stand what Iger is doing to WDW. As long as people are silent and do not voice their concerns, there is zero chance of forcing a course change. At least is we stand up and declare with one voice:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!"

We have a chance to refocus them on the magic and less on the money.

Definitely, have you written Disney? Because that truly is the only official way to be part of guest feedback.

Really, this is your argument. So as long as they offer ONE EMH, EMH's have not been done away with? So like, you have three cars and I came over and took one of them, would you say I didn't take away your cars ? Or that I took away one of the three ? Would you say "my Cars still exist".

If Disney only offered 1 Day of EMHs a year, would you say "EMHs still exist !" ?

Perhaps we should both just say they are reducing EMHs ?

The reality is they have "done away" with 8 of the 13 Morning EMHs in MK in April this year - you can try to spin that all you want, or use different words to try to convey something. But if you are basically stating "EMHs still exist", like the OP, I think you are missing the point. You will recall the OP stated "So far, there has been zero (0) indication or announcement of Disney that EMH are going anywhere. Nada. Zip." --- except for the 66% reduction in April morning EMHs in MK ... I guess ?

Comments like this at least to me re-enforce my earlier comment that some on this forum over react. There is not just one day, so why even mention that. They reduced them some. I personally think they are offering enough. You disagree and obviously think any change at all, means the death of EMH. We will simply have to disagree on this.

And your car analogy does not work. If you take my cars that is theft of my personal property. EMHs do not belong to me personally. It is more like there is still bread at the store if there is one loaf.

And I will totally agree they are reducing EMHs. They have done that for years now. No one seemed to mind or notice until now though due to the paid event. Which again supports my opinion that some are assuming this means the death of EMH, which is what the OP was talking about.

That is a much more fair and reasoned response.

I don't think its unreasonable to think they are doing away with them completely, as it appears to be the trend, and indeed we have no reason to think the trend wont continue, but we can fairly disagree on that.

I just don't think its fair to make a blanket statement that they haven't done away with EMHs - because they have, just not all of them. Nor to say there is no reason, or no evidence to think this signals the end of EMHs. We can totally disagree on whether the evidence/trend supports the assertion, but to say its based on nothing to me is a little silly (though you haven't said that :) )
