its been 5 years since our last trip and we arrive tomorrow. Used to be you needed to get wristband for late night extra magic hours. How does it work now? How do you prove that you are a resort guest? I assume it is all tied to your magic bands.
Thx for any advice.

Everyone uses the FP+ line and you scan your magic band to ranger each ride.

I'm curious too. I was recently in a conversation about this and no one ever was able to provide an answer to exactly what they do.
We never go for late night EMH but may next week.
I know in the mornings you use your MB, obviously. So they can tell at the turnstiles.
But at night how do they clear out the non Resort guests. Parties use a wrist band and you have to show that just walking from land to land. That won't work for EMH at night.
I'm sure it's easy to use a method similar to the one done during parties when it comes to shopping or eating, you have to scan your MB to show you are a resort guest.
But that won't work on rides, will it? Do they bring over hand held scanners?

So could you stay if you just wanted to walk around and watch parade, fireworks? Provided you had a MB? I'd guess no MB would be a red flag, right?

We only stay on site so it's not an issue we'd encounter but I am curious at what the policies are

Anyone can stay in the park during late EMH; only resort guests can ride the rides. They welcome shoppers and those who go to the CS places. No one is ushered out as they do at the parties.

Parades and fireworks are finished prior to EMH.

Ah, good point.

Last week at MK we did late night EMH and our bands did not show that we were resort guests. We had checked in that morning so maybe that is why. The lines were so long we only got three rides in the two hours but on each ride we just told the CM that we were resort guests. All three CMs took our word for it without checking for anything.

Had you used the band to open your room door yet? I know when it comes to staying CL your band won't unlock the elevator for the CL level until you use the band to enter the room. I guess that makes it register or something. Wonder if EMH data base works the same way?

not even related, and you can tell how CL savvy I am......wouldn't you need to get up the elevator to your room? how would this work if you needed to open your door first to register on the elevator? hahaha

We had used at least two of our four bands to open the door to our room. Of course they worked to give us entry to the park. And two days later they worked for late night at HS.

I was glad they took our word for it but wondered if anyone was turned away that night. It was extremely crowded.

The first time you arrive you are escorted to CL to check in. You do not check in at the normal desk. Then the CL CM escorts you to your room, if it's ready, where they make sure everyone opens the door with their bands. When we have arrived before our room was ready they gave us old KTTW cards that are programmed to work the elevator and asked us to return those once we accessed our room and made sure our bands work

The bands and the data bases that run them are odd birds.
Last May we arrived to MCO and got to the ME area. Scanned at check point #1, device registered correct Resort. Scanned at check point #2 getting ready to load the bus and it read the wrong Resort. Luckily I had the letter they sent also so they went off that but no one could explain why check point 1 read right and check point 2 didn't.

How late was MK opened? We're going in August and it's opened until 2:00am. I was hoping it wouldn't be that crowded.

The CMs have scanners at the attraction entrances to scan each person's MB or RFID room key card.. It shows what resort you have checked into and can be done very quickly. I asked to see the scan on our last trip (not much of a line to get in) and the CM showed me the icon for CSR on her scanner. After your stay the icon will no longer show up.

Of course, this being Disney tech, there can be glitches......

MK was open for EMH from 12 midnight until 2 AM. It was very crowded for the entire time. We still had to wait for almost an hour to ride 7DMT. Other parts of the park may have been less crowded but we did not see any area that was uncrowded. I am jealous of those who say the park is deserted and they were able to get multiple rides. This has not been our experience at the MK for the last 3 or 4 July trips.
