Extra Magic Hours and Magic Bands

So This is our first time as annual pass holders and I must say I've been a lot more relaxed about planning since we can come and go as we please and change our plans when ever we want. So I was telling my mom that MK closes at 1 on our EPCOT night because of extra magic hours. So I told her we can judge how we feel after illuminations and if we want hop the monorail to MK. So since our room key is our Magic Band do they scan that to verify we can come into the parks/rides? If not how do they determine that we are resort guest.

Well, not every ride HAS a FP line.
What you'll find is CMs with hand-held scanners at every ride entrance... reading MBs.
