Extra day or park hopper?

DH and I are planning on only hopping 1 day. It is cheaper to make our 3 day ticket into a 4 day ticket ($63) then it is to add the park hopper ($100). However when I called, the CM told me that we would not be allowed to use 2 park tickets in one day. I don't see how this can be true, so I figured I'd head over and ask the DIS since some of the CM's tend to give out incorrect information.

Correct.
You can't hop without buying the HOPPER option.

BTW, this is about the most often asked ticket question, so you're not alone in considering this possibility.

*sigh* I was really hoping this was one of those times the CM was wrong. I guess I will revisit my touring plan, or just suck it up and pay the extra $40. Thank you!

Or use a different ticket card. For example you can spend the day at Epcot and then use your Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party ticket at Magic Kingdom during the party hours even if your regular ticket does not have hopping. (In this example you don't even have to show your Magic Band or regular ticket.)
