I have read on these boards that an extension cord is necessary if you bring your own hairdryer. How long should the extension cord be? Can I use it in the bathroom, or do I need to plug it in elsewhere in the cabin? Two prongs or three?

We are leaving in 2 weeks and I am trying to finish up last minute details!

Thanks!

I plug the cord in the outlet over the desk - I was soooo happy that I brought one! We needed the extra outlets for battery charging (camera, 2 way radios, hair dryer, portable DVD player) There is a mirror right on the desk - So the outlet doesn't need to be that long - I think we brought a 3 ft one - It was fine -

Seems like the only time I've heard other talk about needing extenstion cords, it wasn't really an extention cord they needed but a power strip so that they had enough outlets like Karen was saying.

If you don't have other things that will have to be plugged all the time, forget about an extra cord. The hair drying can be plugged in right at the desk you will most likely be using to put on makeup and such anyway.

BTW, the outlets inside the bathroom are only ment for shavers and such. A hair dryer uses too much power for the plugs in the bathroom.

If you hairdryer or other appliance has one of those big black box type plugs....it will not fit properly in the outlets...that is why you need a power strip or extension cord. I know my hair dryer plug will not fit in the outlets. The cabin outlet is low against the desk and there is not enough clearance for the plug to fit.

You can plug the hairdryer in the outlet behind the television. You have to pull it out a little bit to access it. That outlet will take the box type plugs on hairdryers. I realize this may be confusing if you are not familiar with the layout, but it will make sense when you see how everything is set up in the room. It's not convenient, but it will do (obviously figured this one out by experience). I will definitely be taking an extension cord next time. I hope you have a great trip.

you will need one to acommodate the plug for the hair dryer which is located just above the stateroom desk. if your hair dryer has a safety plug it won't fit in the outlet. so the cord doesn't need to be long just have a regular plug. a power strip will also work.

another suggestion. if your stateroom catagory does not include a double bathroom bring an over the door shoe rack to hold toiletries. the double bathrooms have enough shelves for a family of 5 with 3 girls. the single bathrooms don't.

Mickey Minder...good point...yes the big plug will fit behind the TV but not all hair dryer cords are long enough for to stand in front of the mirror to dry hair...hence I always recommend an extension cord.

Thanks everyone, your explanations are very helpful!

Herrbeeb - I just bought my over the door shoe holder yesterday!
