We are thinking about doing a 4 night cruise out of Port Canaveral in May. I'd like to stay a few extra nights and do something else nearby. Any suggestions that are not Disney? My girls, both 16, would like to try something different.
I totally get that after doing Universal in July. Way too hot. I don't know what there is to do in Orlando other than theme parks. Maybe rent a car and drive down to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. I love Fort Lauderdale. There's a lot of great hotels on the beach.
I was thinking about booking Utopia first week of January, but now because I don't want to do theme parks I'm leaning towards the 7 night on Symphony. Flights and price are a real PITA that week. I'm still thinking about it, but I don't want to fly to Florida for a 4 day cruise either. It's cheaper to do a 7 night cruise than a four night and theme parks. I'm struggling to find reasonable flights out of Miami that time of year.
I decided to do the 4 night Utopia over Symphony. Miami flights were to many miles and too pricey. I booked a GTY balcony for 1300. When you are used to paying DCL prices I almost feel like the cruise is free. My soon to be 21 year old asked me why we were still sailing on DCL. Well after this cruise we might not be. I'm still pretty new to Royal. Odyssey loved, and Allure was meh. I hear Allure got a makeover though. I really want to try Icon or Star when prices mellow out a little. I hope I come off this cruise loving it because my bank account needs a break from Disney.
I'll be also be looking for ideas to kill a couple of days.
