Explosions and shootings in Paris

Many Muslims are infidels (to ISIS), too: anyone who doesn't share their same warped ideology.

With all due respect, I am still scratching my head over this statement. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
....and, in the words of Elvis Costello:
"What's so funny 'bout peace. love, and understanding?"

I can't answer for the other poster, but I know people that would utter that same sentiment. They do not think that we should be bombing, they think any refugees are fine, they think we need to provide jobs, money etc...to them and they will be happy. Seriously. Members of my family. When they can be bothered to even know about it, which is rare. They prefer not to listen to the news then jump your stuff when you say anything negative to any of their idyllic viewpoints.

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I'm all about love, peace and understanding. :hippie:

I just don't believe it will "stop them".

Just so you know, there is a lot of ground in there between bombing and hugs. I'm not a supporter of carpet bombing the Middle East and saying "too bad, so sad" for all the innocent casualties. I am in favor of proportional responses which I believe France did today. I'm not in favor of allowing refugees to just waltz into our country with the way we currently background check people, but I am also not in favor of denying every single person entrance to our country especially if the only reason is because they are Muslim. And to be clear, I'm also not in favor of sitting down with terrorists, singing Kumbaya, and hugging it out.

We fought Vietnam proportionally and......we lost. To win a war it is all or nothing!!

At the time we had a big powerful army. Why did we lose? We lost the will to fight!

After 9/11 there were many many people locked up with out reason. The NYPD counter teeriosm task force was arresting people for imigration issues and then leaving them in jail for years. Others were locked up simply because their name matched a known terriost even though they were not that person.

Proof of this? Locked up for years? The police have to protect its citizens first.

We *lost* the Vietnam War for so many different reason. And, yes, as we proved, having a powerful army doesn't necessarily guarantee victory.

I will NEVER support carpet bombing a country when the enemy isn't identifiable. The enemy is spread out and they are located everywhere including our own country. We can wipe Syria off the planet and we will not come close to wiping out the terrorists. We'd be foolish to thing we had. Looks like we need to bomb the hell out of Belgium now since they seem to have been housing quite a few of the latest terrorists! It will never end.

Oh boy. Vietnam.

What exactly WERE we fighting for over there? We lost the "will to fight?" I'd say we got smart and figured out it was NEVER our fight in the first place. Not all battles are worth fighting. Not every cause is a "just" one.

Fighting ISIS? Sure, battle worth waging. Vietnam? Not so much.

It will never end.
So what's your solution? Throw your hands up and pray they don't come to your community? I'm not trying to be flip, but so many are anti-everything for a solution, so what's the solution then?

Well, none of us on here knows who is or is not a Muslim, or who is or is not a member if the Christian. Because people who identify with the extreme, violent factions of their faith tend to be in the extreme minority, I will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt until I know more personally. Not only my faith, but the bedrock beliefs of my nation call me to action to protect innocents. The people of Syria are victims of a terrible civil war, and extremists who want Syria's oil resources have taken advantage of the chaos. It's a terrible situation, but I have to keep perspective. The men who blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995 were Americans. They were part of a group who wished to remove power from the US Federal Government as part of a militia. One of them was a Gulf War veteran. Both of them had ties to radical Christian and White Supremacist groups. They killed 168 people, and I believe about 700 were injured. Extremists, with their violence and hate, are everywhere. The only way to stop them is to embrace love, kindness and understanding. If allowing 60,000 refugees means we have to screen like crazy for terrorists, so be it.

Why am I starting to see people mention timothy mcvee, which happened 20 years ago? Yes, he was an evil human being that got the death penalty rather quickly. Please don't use him as an example, as it was 20 years ago and obviously a very random act. Let's not compare him to the radical Islamic terrorists, who seem to strike on a weekly/monthly basis around the world.

Where on earth did you get that I am anti everything????? Yeah, that is exactly what I said, I'm just going to throw my hands up and pray. Good grief!
Don't pretend like you have a solution. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has all the right answers here. If it was that simple, I'm pretty sure all these countries who have been devastated by terrorist attacks for YEARS would have annihilated the enemy by now. Unfortunately, they'd have to actually find the enemy first, a task nobody seems to be able to complete. Somehow, these countries without toilets or air conditioning manage to run a network that rivals anything first world countries can comprehend. We need to seek out the enemy and kill them. But, no, I don't support dropping bombs on 100,000 people simply because ten might be terrorists. I'm sorry if you interpret that as anti everything.

If you re-read what I wrote, I said "so many" are anti everything. I didn't say you were. I did ask what you opinion on a solution was though.

It's because they are single-minded. They aren't interested in anything else but annihilation of the rest of the world. We're too busy arguing over footballs being deflated or someone wasn't respected enough.

By my interpretation, you lumped me in with the anti everything crowd. And I said right above that that I support proportional responses when it comes to bombings. I also support hunting them down one by one and killing them. They are spread out and they do that on purpose. They simply aren't stupid enough to all hang out in one part of one country because they know they'd be dead in a day.

I highly doubt we haven't gotten rid of terrorists because we are too focused on Tom Brady and I can guarantee you Spain couldn't care less about deflate-gate. Nobody has been able to end this and other countries have been terrorized by these bastards far more than we have in the USA and they still can't put an end to it. There isn't a simple solution.

which means no will to fight. You don't want to do it you don't have the will to do it. IE not motivated.
