We are waiting for the paperwork for our Saratoga Springs purchase so it may be a little soon to ask, but could someone explain add-points to me?

Once you have purchased an initial contract, you can do an add-on for as little as 25 points, not the 150 point minimum from Disney.

Lots of people buy what they think they will need and then wish to own additinal points.

We originally bought 150 OKW points and then we added on 100 BCV points. Anything less than 150 points must be in the same Use Year as the contract you already own.

It is never too soon to ask. Some folks purchase add-on points before they have ever had their first stay as a DVC owner.

Hope this helps.

Such as me. :p
Beware the boards are addicting...
I think there might even be subliminal messages on here to add on?!? :earseek:

I just called my guide and got on the waitlist for 25 points. I do my add ons in increments of 25 so we can pay cash for them. I don't know if I will ever have enough points :hyper:

Does it matter which resort you purchase the add-on points from and will it give you any benefit at that resort? Will Saratoga Springs always remain my home resort?

I like to go in Dec - the first two weeks and stay at different DVC resorts - well the only way to do this is to add on at those resorts - the first two weeks of Dec is very busy at DVC resorts because a lot of DVC members happen to love that time!!!

If you purchase oints at another resort you get the benefit of the 11-month window at that particular resort.

I can book OKW at 11-months out and I can also book BCV at 11-months out.

If you have very specific times that you vacation and/or specific holiday periods, the 11-months might be important to you. For example, some people like to be near EPCOT during the Food and Wine so they like to book BWV or BCV to be able to walk over. It is just a matter of preference, but frankly you can get anywhere from each of the resorts.

All of this will start to make more sense as you begin booking your trips and see how the 11/7 month window works.

Thanks for the info! I feel the add-on flu coming on and I didn't even make my 1st ressie yet!!

 Now for a stupid question:
How do you customize the text under your username?

cjacobs, try going over to the tech board. From there you cna get contdown clocks, etc.

LEXXIFERN

do you feel that your 25 point add on, could every be resold, if this is the case, some day, before 2042??

How do you customize the text under your username?

Click on profile at the bottom of this box. Click on user CP at the top. Then click on edit profile. From there you can change the text under you name. If that fails, take Shan's avice and head to the tech. board.

I think you have to have at least 75 posts to be able to customize it.;)

Let me add that the 11-month window works only for the total number of points at that resort. You can't combine your regular points at one resort with add-on points at a different resort to get the 11-month window for all the points at both resorts The 11/7 month windows apply to the points belonging to those points' home resort and non-home resorts.

Example: You purchase 150 SSR points and 25 BCV Add-on points. This gives you 150 home points at SSR, and 25 home points at BCV

So at SSR you have 150 points you can use for 11-month reservations, and 25 points for 7-month reservations. At BCV you have 25 points you can use at 11-month reservations, and 150 points you can use at 7-month reservations.

If the points are the same use year, they are combined for banking purposes. In this example that would be 175 points. For example, you're in your 50% banking window and you have 50 of your SSR points and all 25 of your BCV points. You may bank all 75 points since that's less than 50% of your combined total of 175 (150+25). It's not 50% of the original 150 points and 50% of the 25 point add-on like you might think, but actually 50% of the combination.
