Staying YC CL in May but notice no rooms available in any categories (ie non CL too), what happens if a resort is sold out?

Yep, it happens quite often over there. I've been trying to get a room at YC for the last 3 months. It is a very popular resort for the Flower & Garden Festival and then rolling right into Star Wars Weekends. Try the Boardwalk Inn, it seems they usually have more availability as far as the 3 Epcot resorts are concerned. :)

For the longest time yc show no garden view or standard rooms for my week in june. interestingly enough orbitz.com had them plentiful! I think Disney blocks off groups of rooms/hotels to other vendors. I could have EASILY had a garden view room at YC from orbitz. However once March hit garden view was plentiful at YC. My theory is b/c it is a convention hotel the block off large blocks of rooms until they are sure of their convention numbers...And don't forget there are only 5 CL YC GV rooms so they do go super quick anyway!

Thank you everyone, I haven't stayed at the YC for years and although I'm currently booked I started to worry about overselling as I recall Erika's unfortunate experience of that at the YC :(

Just got some pixie dust!!!! We have a split stay coming up. It was supposed to be 5 days POP 2 days Poly club level. Then, I decided to add an extra day to the Poly. I've been calling daily and checking online for over a month!!! Nothing!! Finally, the Disney travel agent said....no, I can get you in that date!!! Yay! I'm super excited. It's our first time staying club level.

Congrats on getting the Poly :cool1::cool1:. I can't comment on Poly CL specifically as we haven't tried CL there yet, but we have had great CL stays at other resorts. Have a great trip :wizard:.

Hey there Clare!! Oh don't worry! I showed up at BWI CL I 2009 and the couple in front of me was being told resort wide sell out so sorry and they were moved off property!! It can happen anywhere.

This is my 6th straight summer at YC CL (well actually last summer I did not stay CL) and with only 5 YC CL GV rooms I have never had an issue for my room. EVER. In fact the time I MIGHT have an issue I didn't complain as we were bumped to the Vice Presidential Suite instead! :)

After my personal experience I would not book YC CL GV again for a party of 4, because they can't differentiate in their system between the rooms with a king bed and with 2 queens. To me that is very flawed, you can't book 5 families for 5 rooms if some of the rooms only sleep 2 people. So when I go back to YC CL again I will either to standard or water view. Unless it's just my husband and I and a king bed would work fine, then I would book GV again.

Just wanted to share our excitement that the summer discount allowed us to book two nights at the YC in a CL room. This will be our third stay at the YC and will follow us spending four nights in the GFV--a perfect split stay, IMO!

This will be our fifth CL experience, with only WL, AKL and BC left on our bucket list.

We've only stayed CL once and I'm worried that I'm missing some sort of etiquette. When we were at the Poly CL in May we we're encouraged to sample all of the food and Chef Eugene even brought a plate of ribs to our table at one point. We are always in the lounge for evening appetizers and it often becomes almost a meal just because the hot food is also so heavy. All of that to say that after hearing talk about wine and cheese I'm worried that we look like moochers. Can't anyone else relate? Not trying to stir the pot just curious how other people adjust their plans with CL food! TIA :)

Thanks Melissa, I'm in a water view CL room this time :) I did want a garden view but none were available, I'm hoping for a nice view :goodvibes

That is definitely flawed, seems crazy.

Completely in agreement with you! We do a sit down lunch and honestly for dinner one app plate and one fruit/veg plate is plenty dinner for us. Then after dessert time, put a fork in us bc we are done!

Sounds like a flaw that Disney really needs to work on fixing :sad2:.

Congrats on the discount :thumbsup2. I hope you get to try WL CL. That was our first CL stay and it was amazing, and AKL CL is on our list to try :).

There's nothing wrong with trying everything, that's what it's there for :). We always do a TS dinner and aren't always in the lounge during the evening apps and although my DH and both DSs could never make a meal out of the offerings, I could easily do it ;).

WL CL was our first CL also. We were checking in and the castmember asked if we would be interested in upgrading to CL for $50 per day. We didn't even know what CL was! :rolleyes1 Boy were we surprised, and hooked from that moment on!

I don't get how this happened b/c the CL room assigner KNOWS ahead of time the situation. I know that the room overlooking the courtyard is a King room for certain and another room on gazebo side is king. So when the room assigner goes about their task 10 days out how can they not realize there is an issue THEN vs. when you are standing at the desk? Again I have never had an issue but I see your point. I plan to check in with them prior to arrival to ensure I do indeed have the room but again wouldn't the room assigner get a red flag 10 days out and act accordingly then?

The room assigner had us assigned to a GV room with 2 queen beds, but it wasn't on the 5th floor. They couldn't understand why we were unhappy with our room. Maybe the majority of people booking club level rooms don't expect to be on the same floor as the lounge and CL castmembers? I don't know. But we sure weren't happy with it.

We don't eat all that much There compared to what I see others do. Really just try everything. We usually eat a ts at lunch and the apps are more than enough. It's actually a lot of food at least in our opinion

Well maybe they were just trying to cover the situation and making it look NORMAL as with all 5 of my CL stays there GV we were never stuck as a party of 3 with a king bed. So maybe just a nutty fluke that they tried to cover up. In fact there is one of the 3 gazebo rooms I don't care for that I asked not to be placed in and the room assigner told me "you realize there are 3 rooms that don't have a king so chances are u might be in the room you don't like" to which I totally understood....So here is to hoping the trend continues and I am happy but that is exactly what happened to the BWI CL people...party of 5 showed up for a king sized bed on the boardwalk view....

Off topic, but what do you guys think of people being able to book wdw vacation packages with room and dining only, no park tickets. This has been available to AP holders for a while, just wondered what everyone thought?

In all honesty (and at the risk of this not being a very favorable opinion to AP holders/DVC members), I think it's a good option. While the DDP doesn't work for everyone, it does work for some and some love it, but don't need tickets every trip as they might have tickets from a previous stay or maybe want to do a resort only trip. Even though tickets can be saved for a future trip, it can add quite a bit of cost for something that might not be used for possibly a year or two down the road. I know this has been a perk for AP holders (and DVC members staying on points) for quite some time, but I do think it's a nice option for those who don't have an AP and/or aren't DVC members. We are a family of 4 (adults) and we are considering a resort only trip at the end of this year and while we do enjoy having the DDP, I had decided against the DDP and pay OOP for meals as I won't spend $400 on 4 one day park tickets, only to have them sit in a drawer for an undetermined amount of time. This, of course, is just my opinion ;).
