EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

We arrived late at the BC CL one year with a party of 5 (my mother came with us) and they didn't have any daybed rooms left. So they brought her a roll-away and then we moved rooms the next day. It was a pain to move but at least we had the daybed for the rest of the week.

Thanks for the updates. If it wasn't for this thread I would have never known BC didn't have all daybeds, or at least guarantee them for a party of 5. I booked so late so it was too late to change. At least I am prepared because if we checked in with 5 people and only had 2 queens, I would have been really pissed. I honestly can't believe they even do it because when hotel chains post they can hold 5 people in a room, it never means possibly rolling a bed in. I am surprised Disney does this.

But now I am zen and ready for what comes my way :thumbsup2

I'm LOL'ing at your dumpster view because that's what we had last spring break! No daybed, and a dumpster! ;) By the time we moved over to the Atrium Club we felt like we'd walked straight into heaven. When we went back to the YC last summer we splurged for water view mainly because we knew we couldn't relive that spring break trip again. LOL
Trip report! YES! Gotta get that going! This week is crazy busy!

Love that Atrium Club Bay Lake View!

Hello Everyone!

We are planning our annual Disney Vacation for September, we have always stayed at the Contemporary Club Level and we've never had any issues, but this year for some reason the week we are in town the entire hotel is booked up.. No club level for us.. I don't mind trying a new place, but my son and I have celiac's disease and the CR was so helpful in planning and getting food that we could both eat in the lounge. They made special waffles and eggs and a fruit plate every day.. it was amazing..

So now, we are trying to decide which pampering of food will be better for us at either the Poly or the Grand Floridian. My son is 13 and will try a lot of things, but we are so used to our comfort zone that we are worried that if we go to one place over another we won't be happy and have a bad experience.
Its his birthday and mine too that week so we need good vibes.

Thanks in advance..

Our teen boys far prefer Poly over GF because of the whole tropical, laid back theme. The Poly lounge has a far more casual vibe and they love it.

On the other hand, I agree that GF is far more likely to accommodate. And the RPC lounge is so quiet and relaxing. If you asked my husband, he would say the casual vibe in the Poly lounge is a negative, not a positive!

I'd pick BW in a heartbeat because of the awesome CL, but the pool just isn't as great as BC/YC. Maybe I should do a few nights BW for the view/great CL, and then a few nights BC CL, sacrificing the view for the pool? Although we a professional split stayers, I had actually hoped to do fewer moves this trip, but I would really like to get back to BW maybe one more time this year because Lorenzo just told us that he's thinking of retiring next year and I'm not sure we'd be back before that would happen. :(

I agree, we love BWI CL but the pool situation is crap in my opinion. Really nothing can compare to Stormalong Bay. If you want a pretty view I recommend water view at YC CL. You'll be guaranteed a full size balcony, the views are awesome, and the pool atmosphere is the best.

This is a great suggestion. We've stayed at YC and really enjoyed it, but not yet CL. After our upcoming WL stay, we'll have stayed CL at every deluxe resort except for YC. If they renovated that lounge and I convinced our oldest that the YC lounge isn't for "old people," I'd book it! (Erika, any photos of the YC lounge with your teenagers in it, so that I can prove this?) And at BWI the Boardwalk view is not guaranteed with a CL reservation unless you book deluxe (but then your room could be either on the 3rd or 4th floor.) So that's always a factor in the mix for us. A split is another great idea and we do those all the time, too.

P.S. I think my favorite BWI CL stay was when the clown pool was closed for renovations. We booked BWI standard CL. We had a perfect standard CL room very close to the lounge with a beautiful boardwalk view AND they transported BWI guests over to Stormalong Bay via golf cart during our stay! The CMs at BWI were apologizing for the pool closure, but we said no need for apologies because it really was the best of everything!

YC CL is a no go no way until they renovate. (And hopefully they'll renovate their staff while they're renovating the rooms. :crazy2:)

We have arrived at the YC and BC several times and been put in a room that only accommodated 4. Sometimes, we have been given a rollaway, sometimes we have been moved. It's very weird that the assigners don't look more carefully at the party size before deciding on which room to place a family in.

Ha! That would be a great stay--benefits of BW CL but with YC/BC pool! And I know about the BW views, but I think we're fine with either (though prefer Boardwalk, of course.) The views with BW are WAY prettier than the YC/BC views! I do wish it were a guaranteed booking category at the BW for CL--it's weird that it's not!

Here's Connor in the YC CL lounge - May 2013 for Star Wars Weekends and his Birthday

we had a ton of cute towel animals that week too:

and of course the now infamous birthday surprise from the YC manager :D I will NEVER get over that!

If you ask either of my boys they would say YC CL is one of their favorites.

I have heard they will renovate next winter. But I haven't heard a date set. Have you? I really don't think their lounge is a huge problem. Not like the old BC lounge was. I find the hallways in much worse shape than anything.

I agree regarding views - BC/YC is so pretty! Maybe it's good for our family that BWI CL doesn't allow us to book GV or BW view. As much as I love the BW view, my husband far prefers the GV. Nice that BWI settles that for us (although I still request BW view!)

Great photos Erika! That's exactly what I need - and Connor looks quite happy! I even noted a few teens in the background! And that view from your balcony is amazing.

I haven't--but I also haven't really been paying too much attention either. We really have had some not very good experiences twice at the YC CL, making it our least-favorite CL resort. We still love the resort, and prior to the rehab, preferred staying at YC over BC (non CL), but we've kind of sworn it off for the time being. We just haven't had a good experience with our rooms (I'm not picky, but I do expect my room to be in good condition without rusty door knobs and drains, without mildew in the shower, and good housekeeping) and we've had very less-than-enthusiastic experiences with the CL staff. I have a big long thread about it somewhere in this thread from this past summer after two consecutive non-stellar stays.

Add us to the list Erika! We will be at Stone Harbor Club in 2 LV/PV CL rooms :) 8/13-8/19

I'm sure you remember my debacle checking-in a few years ago and being told the only GV room they had left was a king bed so they put us down on the 3rd floor. But they made up for it with mega pixie dust, so I rarely complain about it. Still I always advise people if a daybed is a must and it will literally ruin your trip not to have one then don't book YC/BC.... pick a monorail resort.

I love the BC so much that I'm willing to risk the rollaway and no balcony. We're staying at the CR the first part of our trip, the last two will be at BC to get our Stormalong Bay fix. I think I'd be more unhappy with the rollaway/no balcony if it were going to be a long stay. I can put up with anything for a night or two. We've got our fingers crossed that we'll get a decent room this time, but it won't wreck our vacation if we don't get all of our wants.

I agree about the rooms, they need a gutting. Especially the bathrooms.

The collective list of DISers staying on club level has turned into an interesting survey result.

I thought I'd added my dates, but I haven't! We switched from WL CL to Poly CL...the deal was just too good to pass up. We're going to be at Poly CL from September 30-October 5! So excited to take our family to Florida for the first time!!

Got it :D It definitely is a good time to book the Poly, enjoy that rate! :D

I totally agree....We are only a family of 4, but our 2 kids are older/bigger now and we really, really need the daybed if we're going to sleep at all during our trip. I'm holding out hope that maybe they added daybeds during the refurb to the rooms that were configured in such a way that they could fit. We are a family that LOVES good views from our room, but I sacrificed the view and booked a Standard CL room because I think we'll have a better chance of getting a daybed, which was my #1 request.

I doubt they could add daybeds to all the rooms due to the dormers. Here is the room we were given last March, if you notice in the corner the way the walls come in there's no way a desk could be there in order to allow a daybed across from it:
