Expedition Everest Challenge Trekkers

How about we do a "rolling" WISH meet before the race?

4:45-5:15 Meet in AKL lobby (since it seems a lot are staying there)
5:15-5:30 Bus to AK together
5:30-6:30 Moving meet starting near busses and moving to start corrals

10:30-10:40 Meet outside Everest to all go on a mass ride!

Does this sound reasonable? I'm sure we'll have enough people in WISH shirts that we can find each other. I've never done a Disney race before, so if the veterans think this plan won't work, please speak up!

Carol that sounds like a good plan of the 'rolling' meet. We won't meet up at the AK since we are driving from our resort and I'd be freaking out parking at the AKL and then rushing out to drive to the park. But that is MY pre-race freakout time  I can't remember if I wrote about my ToT drive lat Oct but it amounted to me in the middle of that huge traffic jam for an hour (mind you it was a 10 min drive usually) sitting in the back sit in the fetal position and i do believe Susan said I was whimpering. :lmao:

So for my sanity sake I will meet up at the park but will try to be there about the time you all arrive on the bus :thumbsup2 I of course will be wearing my WISH shirt, looking stylish in my black running skirt (hey with that and compression shorts no one will see a thing while doing the obstacles!). So I'm sure we will find each other. :cool1:

I really like the Everest group ride idea. I didn't do the ToT since I HATE that ride LOL But I really love EE so if we set the time now I'll keep an eye on my watch that night :thumbsup2

I know for the package pick up we are going to be there around when it opens on Friday (10-ish) and we haven't picked the time for the seminar yet but will most likely do the 12 noon on Friday. I would recommend attending it.

I figure the seminar will take us from arriving, each transition in the race and thru the finish. I've now completed 2 WDW 1/2's, 2 DL 1/2's and 1 WDW Full. Susan and I made this DL 1/2's trip all about the expo and seminars and made sure we caught the course review seminar and we both thought it was worth it. Even though I already done the course it was nice hearing them walk us thru it. Telling us what we could expect thru the race. From how the sweepers would work to what mile they had set up a mist tent.

In the course review they should explain in a bit more detail about how we will transition from the 5K to the obstacle course and maybe tell us exactly what the obstacle course will be.

Now don't hold it against me if I'm wrong and the guy lied to me but what he told me at the Expo was it is hurdles we climb over, we climb a net of some sort, balance on a beam and crawl under a net. How high any of these are I have no clue since it was a tad bit loud in the Expo and I didn't have a pen and paper handy. I'm going with a memory that was running down thanks to traveling 1/2 the day. He did say there would be grass under the obstacles. I am hoping in the course review they will clarify what the obstacles are, how they are set up, how high and all that good stuff.

Then I'd like a bit more info on the scavenger hunt. I've never done one and reading that they will 'check my answers' at the finish line scars me :scared1: so if i write the wrong answer do they send me back out to figure it out or am i screwed? I'm relying on my DH teammate to figure out these clues.

I don't want to scare anyone with the obstacle news I listed but if he was right this could be very very interesting. :scared1: ok really the obstacles are only slightly scaring me right now because it's still over 2 weeks away and I figure like Jeanne, I've completed the Marathon I will do what it takes to finish this too even if I have to take a running start and hurdle myself at the hurdle to go over it :lmao:

I'm hoping he lied and it's a kiddie ball pit like Dave suggested. :thumbsup2

MOMtoGKC :rotfl2: over the balancing after the F&W We're hitting Hollywood Studios that day, perhaps that will work in our favor :thumbsup2

Tracy!!!! 1st I'm so glad to have gotten to meet up at DL with you and 2nd I am hoping to wear my camera. I can't guarantee the photos will be good but there will be dark, blurry photos that I can promise :thumbsup2

We arrive Thurs and are at the Coranado and will be there week. If I survive this you can be sure I will wear my for the rest of the vacation :thumbsup2

I am all up for the rolling meet.
I'll be at the lobby!
I will be scared and nervous so bear with me though, I might be laying on the floor catatonic :rotfl:

No worries ChocoKat! You'll be in good company. I will be in the fetal position rocking back and forth muttering to myself about my stupid ideas :thumbsup2

The good thing is your not alone. I might not be much help but at least I will give you a friendly smile on the course  Spot the green and know you are amongst friends :thumbsup2

We're not staying at AKL and like Diane I don't want to get caught in traffic trying to get to the park. We will however look for the green moving mass at the beginning. Group Everest ride is a definite yes! :thumbsup2

I'm figuring since they say the obstacle course is for fun that means nothing too high or difficult. That's my story and I'm sticking to it as that's all that keeps me from worrying about it.:rotfl2: The scavenger hunt stuff is DH's specialty so I've put that squarely on him. ;)

A large group of friends at a unique WDW event - we are all going to have a great time!!

Thanks Diane!!!
You guys are def. making things easier for me :grouphug:

WooHoo!!!
The e-mail is in and it WAS HONOR!!! :rotfl:
Yay I can do the clues!

The next one it is very very obvious :lmao:
I feel much much better :cool1:

So it was HONOR. Ok, I agree, the 3rd question does seem easy.

My wish shirt won't be here before the race - I just ordered it and leave next Friday - I'll still join in with my 11 y/o son tho!

Thanks for sharing your experience with the DL 1/2 seminar. Right now I'm leaning toward not attending but I guess I'll wait and see how I feel after packet pick-up.

I didn't understand clues 1 and 2, but I think I've got clue 3. Hopefully it really is that obvious.

Okay, so clue #2 was HONOR. That makes me feel better that I figured that one out.

As for #3, it sounds to me like they are looking for two animals, the owl and the rabbit. Anyone else think so?

15 more days, people. 15 DAYS!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the nod to Cap'n Jack in the notes about the Compass. Nice to see a little humor, almost makes me stop worrying about the scavenger hunt.

Agreed, the owl *Who-->Hoot* is holding the hares *Hair--->hare* upside down. Poor bunnies :rotfl:
Maybe it is JUST the owl?

I loved the capt Jack joke too. I think we will be just fine.:cheer2:

My son and I will already be at AK that day so we will pick up the meet at around 5:30 in the parking lot/corrals. We'll both be wearing WISH shirts.

I saw the thing about checking our passport for correctness. I have done something vaguely similar and I think what they mean is that they will check to see if you have all the right stamps. You probably won't be given a stamp/sticker unless you have the right answer so it's not a question of having to go back to the clue location. I would assume that the stamp for each clue is different and they want to make sure you have been to each and every individual place. I once did a maze challenge with my kids and when you got to each of the stations there was a stamp pad so you could stamp it on your card. One of my kids couldn't find one of the stations and thought she would be clever and put 2 of the same stamps on her card. We all thought it was so funny because at the end she didn't get a prize. In this case I'm assuming that once you get to the location, you just keep guessing until you get it right or eventually the cast member will practically give you the answer so you can get the stamp and move on to the next location.
It should be a fun event. We've all paid for the medal in our entry fee so I would imagine the only way someone probably wouldn't get one is to just not try at all.

ok, NOW I am excited!!

If we are staying at AKL we still have to take a bus? I am confused. I thought AKL was at AK?

It's close, but there is no walking path. Yes, you will have to take a bus. (AKL guests always have to take a bus to AK):confused3

Great idea for the Meet!:thumbsup2

I won't be meeting everyone til we hit the parking lot/starting corrals as we are at the Poly. (AKL was all booked at the EEC rate by the time I signed on.)

The idea for the Group Everest ride is fantastic!!! I might actually break down and buy the photo of that one...a sea of lime green WISH shirts taking on the Yeti!:woohoo:

Meet Idea sounds great:thumbsup2 If I can talk DH into it (or manage to "bump" into you guys:rolleyes1 ) we'll meet up somewhere along the way... either at AKL after dinner if we go or at AK before the race. I'd love to do the EE group ride.. what a great idea... unfortunately I'll be banned from all rollercoasters this trip:eek: .... still might have to buy that group photo though:yay:
Just ordered my Wish Shirt this week, so it won't get here before we leave...but I'll keep an eye out for the sea of green.
I haven't run in about a month besides my 3 runs right after I got the OK from the DR:scared: with this morning sickness kicking my butt so I'll definitely be at the back of the pack.... I'm just hoping I can finish and not get swept... thought about letting DH do this on his own.. but this was my idea, darn it :rotfl: I want that compas!pirate: GREAT job to everyone that got that 2nd clue:cheer2: that's not even remotely how I was thinking... DH didn't get it either so we might be struggling with the scavenger hunt:scared:
2 weeks from today!!!!!!!:cheer2: :scared1:

Aww now I wish I had a wish shirt too! :thumbsup2

I finally got my time down to 15.5 per mile yesterday, and the training has resumed after my shins splints healed

Bring it ooon! :rotfl:
