I need to ask all the experts out there, I have a dilemna concerning my exercise clippie and I am not sure what to do. I have been faithfully exercising for over 5 months now, but on Christmas I started some medical issues and the other day I was told that I could have an ovarian cyst. Given this and the pain that I have been having on and off, I am not able to exercise like I was. I don't want to have to give up my clippie because I have worked so hard for it, yet I can't keep going right now either. So my question is can I take a break and pick up where I left off or do I have to surrender the clippie and start over again when I am able to exercise again?

I say do whatever keeps you motivated to exercise. If keeping the 5 pound clippie is going to make getting back into exercise easier when you are ready to start again, then keep it. If it will make you more motivated to get back into it to build up the clippie again then don't. Everyone has different things that motivate them, so I say do the one that keeps your spirits higher!

Sorry to hear you are having medical problems. Here is so hugs and pixie dust to get you to a fast and speedy recovery.

How about just some easy yoga type stretching 3 days a week to keep your clippies going? Don't do any that would involve hurting your stomach, but maybe just do some for the legs to keep them stretched and lean. Maybe the doctor could recommend something that wouldn't hurt that area?

I love Melanie's idea! If you can do light stretching or SOMETHING for your body then I say keep the clippie.

There are no "Clippie Police" around here that I know of....:teeth: I see the clippies as a way to motivate myself. You do what works for you! Let your conscience guide you.

I hope you're feeling better soon! Here's a gentle  and some :wizard: to help you feel better!

Hang in there! :sunny:

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing medical problems    to you. I think that if you really can't do any type of exercising, even light stretching, then you should just take a break. When you are well enough to continue then just carry on from where you left off. You are obviously really motivated to exercise and I think that it would be unfair if you lost your clippie due to ill health.

I think we said in the past that if you couldn't exercise due to a legitimate *Medical* reason, you could keep your clippie as long as you start back up again as soon as you are able. If you were using a "medical reason" as an excuse just so you don't have to do it, you lose your clippie and start over.

Debbi,
You worked very hard for that clippie.. you earned it, and you should show it off! I know you will be right back at it once you are given the "all clear". so proudly wear that clippie! Keeping you in my thoughts...

Thanks everyone. I am trying to stay active, as much as I can. I did a light workout last Monday and then I did the equivilent of a workout by undecorating my house on NY Day! LOL. I made it to the gym today and although I couldn't get in the same intensity of my usual workout I did manage to get 45 min of moderate cardio in. So I guess I am plugging away, slowly but surely.

I'm in the same boat you are. I did something to my hip and kept trying to exercise through the pain, but it wasn't getting any better. I finally had to stop for a while. It's feeling much better now and I'm ready to start up again. I just wish I knew how I hurt it in the first place so I could keep from doing that again.

Time to press the Pause button, Debbi. We truly can't help when our bodies NEED us to stop exercising. I haven't been able to exercise for a while either. I messed up my back somehow (probably ruptured a disc) and have terrible numbness down my right leg and through my foot -- not exactly a good time for the elliptical. ;)

Take care of yourself and you can start adding to your clippie when you can resume your exercise routine! :wizard: and  to you!
