Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

Yay! So happy that Jesse was chosen and shown on the big screen!! :yay: It sounds like he had a great time at MK that day!:thumbsup2

Hi! :wave2: I hope that your week is off to a good start. As always, it's been fairly busy around the McBride household.

John went to the neurologist today and his levels were all wacky. :crazy2: One of his med levels was more than twice what it should be. :confused3 Since there haven't been any changes to his medications in a few months, that can only mean that some of his meds are fussing and fighting with one another. (I hope that you undersood those medical terms...you know "fussing and fighting with one another" medical terms. :rotfl:) Anyway, blood work is being done so we can figure out what's going on and what we need to do to straighten things out. I sure hope that they get it done soon...this missing a couple of hours of work here and a a half a day there does not bode well with our budget.

Hunter went on his first official date with his girlfriend this weekend. They attended a costume party and went as a ganster and a flapper. I took a couple of pictures and will post as soon as I get it/them uploaded to photobucket. Lacey was so funny. When I told her that he was going as a ganster, she said "Mom, you're going to let him go as a gangster? I can't believe you're allowing him to do that." I told her that it wasn't a big deal and that she was going as a flapper. It hit her then that I said "gangster" and she was thinking "gangsta". :lmao:

I did a little bit of shopping this weekend. I found a really cute hat for my Mama to wear to Disney because the doctor said that her incision area needed to be shaded from the sun for a year! A Whole Year! I tried the hat on and it was so cute so I bought it. I almost skipped across the yard to give it to her because it was such a good deal (Just $2.20 at Kohl's!) Unfortunately, my head is bigger than Mama's and when she tried it on, it fell down around her ears. Oh well, I guess that I'll have to wear it.

Speaking of Mama's incisions, almost all of the swelling has gone down. Just a little puffiness on the eyelids. There's also very very little bruising. Friday was two weeks since the surgery was performed and you wouldn't even know it if you didn't look closely and if there weren't two incisions above her eyebrows. I'm telling ya'll, the woman is tough!

Oh and I almost forgot, I went to a baby shower Sunday afternoon. We will soon have a brand new baby in the family! John's nephew and his wife are expecting a baby boy right around Thanksgiving. I can hardly wait to see him.

On the Lacey & Jesse homefront, they bought a new car last week. They have been looking for about a month and finally found what they were looking for. It's their first big purchase together so it's an exciting time for them.

Other than that, there's not much going on. I take that back, the work on the house is still ongoing. To add to the outside work, we bought new flooring this weekend and will be putting it down sometime soon. We are gluttons for punishment!

Hoping to get replies done tomorrow as well as an update.

I hope the figure out what is wrong with John's meds and can get them fixed so he is feeling better! :thumbsup2

Yay for Hunter having his first official date :goodvibes I'm sure the pictures will be great. And another yay for Lacey and Jesse getting a new car. What did they get?

Glad to hear Mama is doing well and is healing up nicely. That is crazy that she has to protect the spot where they stitched her up for a full year though! :scared1:

Good luck finishing up the outside of the house and getting the flooring going. :)

Ugh, Lisa! I hate to hear that John's levels were off. That's not good! Hopefully you can get it sorted out. And my DH is in the medical field and I would still use "fighting and fussing" to describe things like that.

Oooh, Hunter has a girlfriend? Are you really ready for that? :scared1:

Congrats to Lacey and Jesse on the new car! I'd get a new car every year if I didn't have to pay for them. :rotfl2:

I'm hoping that the meds get sorted out soon. It is a constant battle we fight.

Hunter's had this girlfriend for a few weeks but this was their first official date together. It doesn't really bother me much that he has a girlfriend because she's a good Christian girl and her dad's a Deputy Sheriff. I'm sure he'll keep Hunter in line. ;)

Oh I'd get a new car every year too if they came with no car notes. :rotfl:

I hope the figure out what is wrong with John's meds and can get them fixed so he is feeling better! :thumbsup2

Lacey & Jesse bought a Dodge Caliber. It's really cute!

I thought an entire year was a long time for Mama to have to keep her incision site shielded from the sun. They said that the incisions could turn a dark color or a bright white if they were exposed to the sun for a long time.

BTDT with meds. Turns out that generic formulations can vary drastically. If John is getting any generics, compare the names on the bottles of the manufacturers and see if there has been a change lately. (Of course, you probably already disposed of the previous bottles, right? The pharmacist should have the info.) John may need to stay with the same manufacturer. I know that the FDA constantly tells us that generics are good and our insurance companies constantly steer us to generics, but generics are NOT the same as brand. They may have the same basic med in them, but due to how they are combined with the fillers and what fillers are used, they may release differently, react differently, and stay in the body differently.

My dh cannot use any generics produced by Sandoz because his brain gets all fuzzy, he feels like he is in a fog. Since we are already dealing with major neurological issues, his brain feeling fuzzy was not a good thing!

I hope you can get things figured out quickly for John.

Yay! So happy that Jesse was chosen and shown on the big screen!! :yay: It sounds like he had a great time at MK that day!:thumbsup2

We were having a great time!

All caught up again! I love the pics of your hubby with Tiana! They are priceless. I have to admit, your Hannibal pic is pretty funny! I admire your courage in posting it! LOL! You are a good sport, and your family seems like a great group to go to Disney with. :)

I knew that I just had to post the Hannibal Lector picture. It was too funny not to.

I've been gone (to WDW!) for the week so I had to go back and read about 7 pages!
I also LOL'd at your Hannibal picture and the comment about retrieving Jesus from the locker!

I love that John had to meet Tiana! My DH would probably go for Jasmine! I remember at the princess breakfasts we've had, all the men seemed happy to see her and watched her make her way around the room! :confused3

Welcome home! Hope the Disney blues aren't hitting you too hard.

I can just see your hubby watching Jasmine make her rounds. John also has a thing for Pocahontas. Must be the skimpy costumes. ;)

So- this is the first TR of yours that I've read... this is also the first time I've commented because I started so late! A few things-
Your daughter & son in law remind me of me and my husband... except I was the one who hadn't really experienced the Disney magic until I went with his family in 06.
Also, I'm SUPER sorry your cruise didn't go so well. We chose to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon and we stopped at Nassau and did a "pirate tour"... we went to the Queen's staircase, a pirate museum and the forts at the top of the hill- I would almost guarantee we went to the same fort you did.. but we also went to Fort Charolette... the only reason I remember that is because I have the pamphlet from it in our honeymoon collage.
You should try a different cruise line-- honestly, there are rude people everywhere you go... but if you go on a different cruise line, they will generally be either couples or older people (they say cruises are mainly for honeymooers and retireees and that was 80% of the population on our RC cruise). Maybe try a different cruise line-- I'm sorry to say that, but with less kids on the boat, the atmosphere is probably a lot different.
Also, I love that you got/get to experience Disney through the eyes of a "newbie" it's always more magical that way!:wizard:
Love all the pictures!:woohoo: Can't wait to read more!

I'm so very glad that you've commented! Great to "see" you!

After having some time to think about it, we've decided that we will go on another cruise in the future. We knew that we were dealing with John's med changes and that attributed to our "let down by the cruise" feeling.

I hope that you'll continue to post your thoughts!

:wave2:

Hi Lisa!

It has a been a couple of long, busy weeks and I got behind on your TR, but I had fun catching up this morning!!!

Thanks for your description of the Family Guy episode. My boys watch it WAY.TOO.MUCH, I'll have to ask them to let me know when this one airs. The Simpsons also has an episode that parodies Disney and whenever my family watches it we say "How does this show not get sued?"

Good parade pictures! In some of the parade shots it doesn't look too rainy, but you can actually see the rain drops on Brer Fox's face.

The pictures of John and Tiana are priceless! I hear that she is the perfect princess full of Southern hospitality.

Thank you so much for sharing ALL your pictures of BTM, at your expense, but for our amusement.

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

It has been a long time since we have gone into the Laugh Floor. How did people submit jokes before everyone had cell phones? Did you write them down on a slip of paper? I seem to remember that. That is awesome that Hunter's joke got picked and Jesse was featured on screen.

Finally- that Big Thunder Mountain poster is awesome. That is my favorite ride in MK, and I think I need to snap a photo of that sign myself next time I am there.

The Brer Fox picture is one of my favorites. He came right up to us and I was surprised that the picture turned out so well.

The pictures of myself on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad could have easily been deleted but I knew that I had to share them with my Dis family even if I knew ya'll would laugh like heck at them.

You know, now that I think about it, I don't remember how you sent in your jokes to the Laugh Floor when it first opened.

Yay. I am so happy Jesse got to be on the big screen. It sounds like he is really having a good time on his first day.

He was having a great day and kept telling us thank you over and over again.

Also forgot to say I hope you get to stay at POR. I LOVE it there!!
Ask for one of these buildings in Alligator Bayou, 14-15-16-17-18
A stones throw from the main building /dining/main bus stop.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Our plans are coming up.

We stayed at the Alligator Bayou one year and the "we live there" feeling was strong, especially with DH. Not that we live in an actual Bayou, but Lower Alabama has some of the same feel, and we're just as close to Louisianna as we are to Disney (closer actually) so . . .as nicely themed as it is, it was to familiar.

But it is smaller for Mama. That being mentioned, my Mom, who was 77 when she went with us, loved CBR. And for the most part, kept up in the parks, though she always took a mid-day break, while the rest of us were still in the parks.

Always good to see a newbie have a great time.

That's exactly the way I think we would feel. POR looks like a beautiful resort though.

Mama absolutely loves the CBR and talks about how pretty it is all the time.

That's awesome that Jesse got picked and Hunter's joke was used!! What a special experience!

That is one of my son's favorite attractions. I always hope they put us in the front, because he laughs so hard and loud I feel sorry for the people in front of us. But at the same time it's great to see how much he gets immersed in the show.

I don't know about everybody else but I love going to attractions and seeing kids get so tickled by the attraction itself. To me, it adds to my experience and it makes me smile to see them enjoying themselves.

I enjoyed the Laugh floor. It's one of those things that is really fun for kids!

Boo to the O'Hana not having a ressie for 5! :snooty: We haven't done Kona or O'Hana yet. One day… ONE day!

I think we're going to skip Ohana next year. One of Jesse's requests was to eat at Kona again so I think we'll all eat there together next trip.

How fun Jesse got to be on the screen a few times and Hunters joke got picked! My friend has the system down pat so well she always has her joke picked. The more Disney you make your joke the more likely it is to be chosen. Sounds like Jesse had a great first day at the Magic Kingdom! He must have been sold on Disney after that first day with you all!

Jesse kept texting in jokes but his was never chosen. He didn't ever give up though. He tried and tried.

Hi Lisa! Wow, I hope they can figure out John's medicine issue!! Poor guy! Hunter has a girlfriend??!!! How cute!!! Can't wait to see the pictures of Hunter dressed as a "gangsta" :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: Glad to hear mama is doing so well!!! Congrats to Lacey & Jesse on their new car!! I love getting a new car!!! We need one SO bad!!! But we can't until this one is paid off, which will be in another year! We need something bigger!!! Maybe a minivan, eventhough I always said I would never buy a minivan!! :rotfl: We'll see!!! Can't wait for an update!!! Have a good day!! :)

That's exactly what John and I were talking about last night. One of his meds is generic and his other neurologist would NEVER let him take generics. It's an extended release and we are wondering if it's not releasing the same as the name brand drug.

No no no....brain feeling fuzzy is definitely NOT a good thing!

Yep, he has a girlfriend and I think she's a keeper. :thumbsup2

I couldn't figure out why Lacey thought that a ganster was so bad.

I never thought that I'd want a larger vehicle either but once you start getting car seats, diaper bags, etc in a car, the minivans start looking really really nice.

Dodge Calibers are nice! I've gotten one two different times when renting cars, and did enjoy driving it. Good for them!

It's good that you approve of Hunter's girlfriend. :thumbsup2

On our visit this past April, our 4 year old daughter got chosen to play the part of Boo. Unfortunately, she decided to be shy and spent the entire time on camera huddled up against my wife, at which point the host mentioned something about it being "the pits" because that's exactly where she was smashed up trying to hide.

Where are the magic spots in that show that almost guarantee camera time?

Awww that's too cute! I love those sorts of moments at Disney.

I was told by a castmember that the "hot spots" in the Laugh Floor are near the end of a row/center aisle and in front of the lamps on each row. Those are the seats that have the cameras and lights and, if the castmembers need to, they can easily get to the guests with a microphone.

Yay for Hunter's joke being used and for Jesse being on the screen!

And retrieving Jesus from the locker made me laugh too! :rotfl:

Jesse was so happy that he got chosen!

That could almost be the basis for a country song, couldn't it?

Yeeeee hawwww, retrieving Jesus from the Locker! :dancer:

LOVED the Laugh Floor on our last visit!! It really helps to have a great group of people who "get it" and really go along with the show and prompts. Of course, when they don't "get it" sometimes that can be rather hysterical as well.
Finally started a TR of my own and hoping you will come on over to check it out.

I agree. It's so much more fun when everybody "gets it" and play their character well. Hopping over to your trip report now!

I love the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor! Yay for Jesse and Hunter getting to be in the show!!

We love it too!

Although I'm not a big fan of the Laugh Comedy, I'm glad you guys got in there and Hunter's joke was picked. And even better that Jesse was part of the show. He sure was getting the "full treatment" of pixie dust and the magic of DW!

Kathy, you had to know that John was going to visit his woman, Roz. Can't miss her!

I didn't know there were specific spots to sit at in the Laugh Floor to get on camera! Where are those spots?

You are the bravest lady EVER! Funniest too!:rotfl2: Nice picture!:lmao:

I knew John couldn't stay away from Roz! She quite the sexy one.

Brave....stupid.....crazy.....or just an idiot!:rotfl2:

I think Keith is wanting to head back for Thanksgiving as well!! I need to get some reservations made! :rolleyes1 I will PM directions plus a scenic route we really like if you have the desire! Those political debates annoy me to no end. I keep "yelling" at the tv to "BE NICE"!!! :rotfl:

I love Monster's Inc and hooray for Jesse getting chosen even if he wasn't "that guy"!!! Ohana!!!! Two weeks from last night we will be there!!! :goodvibes

I haven't made any reservations yet because we are still unsure who all is going to go. I'm trying to talk my Mama and sister into going with us.

Whenever you get a chance, send those directions to me.

So glad to hear that Monsters Inc was a success! I really love that show.

Too bad there wasn't an Ohana ressie available for all of you, but Kona sounds like a nice compromise for Lacey and Jesse. Can't wait to hear about it!

We love the Laugh Floor too!

Jesse sure is getting some magic this trip!! pixiedust:

Sounds like y'all are having such a great time. :)

Monsters Inc., Laugh Floor, huh? Never been, I think the rest of my family has, but I haven't. How did that happen?!? :confused3 :rotfl:

Can't wait to see what y'all think of Kona, it's one of my favs. :thumbsup2

Oh you need to go to the Laugh Floor! It's a really cute show!

Jesse enjoyed Kona so much that he requested an ADR there in 2013.

It looks like you were having a lot of luck with your wait times. Even getting a good spot in the rain for the parade.

John looks so happy talking to Tiana! We have never gotten her. Her line was always to long when we came across her.

OK you cheered me up with your BTM pictures too. The one with the straps wrapped around it looks like your in pain!

That's great Jesse got picked to be part of Monsters Inc. For some reason we skipped it the 2 previous trips but we caught it this time. I forgot how much I liked it.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

John had such a great time visiting with Tiana. She was really playing her part well and John was going all Southern gentleman on her. :rotfl:

The straps around my neck didn't hurt but you can tell by my scrunched up look that they were definitely stretched to the max.

Hi,
I work third shift and just spent the majority reading about your trip. It sounds like you guys had a fun time. I'm sorry the cruise wasn't all you wanted it t be. I have been debating taking one with my family.
I'm sorry about the passing of your aunts as well. I agree with you about funerals, isn't it funny how many people show up for those? Half the time the family has never seen some of the people before.
I can't wait to read more.

Welcome! I'm so glad to have you here!

It's so odd that some of the "family" will show up for a funeral but are never there during other times.

It just sounds so funny when you say "we retrieved Jesus from the locker". :goodvibes

It does sound funny doesn't it? I figured Jesus forgave us for scrunching him up in a locker all day. :littleangel:

Dodge Calibers are nice! I've gotten one two different times when renting cars, and did enjoy driving it. Good for them!

It's good that you approve of Hunter's girlfriend. :thumbsup2

I don't know anything about cars but none of us have ever owned a Dodge but I've heard they hold us well. I sure hope so because we drive our cars until the wheels fall off.

Thanks for the info about the "hot spots" on Monsters Inc Laugh Floor.

Ah man, I what a big mess with the meds. Hope it gets sorted out soon!

Hunter has a girlfriend?! That is so cute!

I don't know if it's because English is my second language, but I don't understand the difference between gangster and gangsta? And what's a flapper? :confused3

Yep, he's has a girlfriend! Let's see if I can help with the gangster/gangsta and flapper.

This is gangster:

a flapper was a style back in the 1920s:

Who knew a knee brace could be so entertaining? And a severe case of the giggles!

As I said in my last update, we were all feeling hot and sweaty so we had made a trip back to the Caribbean Beach to freshen up and change our clothes before going to dinner. John mentioned that his knee was bothering him a bit so he put on his knee brace to see if it would help any. Then, we headed out to the Jamaica bus stop where we waited just a few minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus.

Our plan was to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then take the monorail over to the Polynesian. I could believe that we weren’t running late. John is slow as Christmas when it comes to getting ready. I’m serious, he’s worse than a woman. Anyway, we made it to the Magic Kingdom and over to the monorail in plenty of time. I took these pictures while we were waiting on the monorail to come:

DSCF2855.jpg

DSCF2857.jpg

The walkway that leads to nowhere:

DSCF2858.jpg

The monorail pulled up, we hopped on, made the loop to the Polynesian and then parted ways. Lacey and Jesse went to their ADR at Kona and the rest of us went to Ohana. We were greeted by an older gentleman who asked if we had dined there before and we told him that we had. He welcomed us back and then asked if we wanted bread. When we told him that the bread was Hunter’s favorite part of the meal, he asked if we wanted two loaves. I asked if that was okay and he said “absolutely, I can give you all you want. What are they going to do to me? I’m old, retired and a Veteran. They can’t say anything without looking bad.” I liked this attitude. :p

Now, I know for a gosh darn fact that I took pictures of our food at Ohana. I don’t know what happened to them. I have pictures of myself looking like a complete and utter fool on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but I have none of our dinner at Ohana. What the? :confused3

Our server came over and took our drink orders, told us how dinner would work and then went to get our drinks. In the meantime, our salad came out. John and I dug in and it was just as delicious as we remembered it to be. Our drinks came and our server told us that we would receive our platters of noodles, wings, vegetables and potstickers in just a bit.

Next thing we knew, another server came around with the big skewers and asked if we wanted some meat. We thought it was a bit odd that they were giving us meat and the other items hadn’t come out yet. It was also strange since this wasn’t even our server but we told her yes.

A few minutes later, our server came and asked where the meat came from and we pointed out the other server to her. She said that she didn’t know why they had brought the meat to us because that wasn’t even the other server’s section and we didn’t have our other platters yet. She told us that she’d be back in a minute with our other food. As soon as she was out of our vision, here came the other server with more meat. She was just putting the last bit of meat on John’s plate as our server came back around. I could tell that she was ticked off but she just smiled and whispered something to the other server who left.

The rest of our platters of food came out and it all looked very appetizing. We had potstickers, sings, noodles, veggies and several types of dipping sauces. Our server then came back with more skewers of meat. She apologized for the other server and said that she was one who sometimes helped out other servers but she wasn’t assigned to that section that night. John and I said it was no big deal but that we had thought it seemed a little odd that she would come to our table when it wasn’t even her table. We wondered if the “odd” server kept coming over so that she could suggest to our “regular” server that they split the tip because she had helped.

Anyway, we all ate our delicious meal. Hunter isn’t a big fan of the food there but he had more than enough to fill him up. During the dinner service, they asked if anyone was celebrating a birthday and asked them all to come up. Since we were still celebrating Hunter’s 15th birthday, we told him to go ahead and go up. It didn’t matter that his actual birthday was earlier in the trip. Hunter in his lei:

DSCF2860.jpg

The entertainer had the entire restaurant sing Happy Birthday to the group of people who had gathered around and then taught them a dance. I’m always surprised when my kids are subdued during anything like that since they have no problem busting a move anywhere else in public.

After the birthdays were celebrated, they had anniversary and newlyweds come up so that the entertainer could play a song for them all to dance to. In the meantime, our dessert came out and it was fantastic! I’m not a fan of bread pudding because, usually, it’s soggy and mushy and that’s a combination we do not like. But this bread pudding was mushy but firm and overwhelmingly tasty.

As we were enjoying our dessert, Lacey sent a text saying that they were about to finish up their meal as well. They were going to look around in the shops while they waited on us. John ate the last bit of bread pudding, we paid for our meal and gave the tip directly to our server.

We met up with Lacey and Jesse and then window shopped for a while. The art gallery at the Polynesian has some stunning artwork and glasswork but it was nothing that I could afford. I probably couldn’t even afford the easel that some of the artwork was displayed on. I’m talking thousands and thousands of dollars worth of artwork. :artist: It’s a “keep your hands in your pockets at all times” kind of place.

We meandered out of the resort and wondered what to do next. Since Jesse and Lacey hadn’t been to Downtown Disney yet, we figured why not catch a bus there and walk off our meal. We walked over to the bus stop and waited for the Downtown Disney bus and it hit me that I needed to go tinkle. I told them to catch a bus if it came and I’d meet them at Downtown Disney. Then, I power walked back to the resort to find a bathroom. And, power walked back to the bus stop to find the family still waiting on the bus. We waited and waited and waited some more.

After about 30 minutes, Hunter decided to entertain us by using his Daddy’s knee brace as a neck brace. He was acting all silly and making all sorts of crazy faces and John started giggling and couldn’t stop. He laughed so hard that he had tears rolling down his face:

Who knew that a knee brace would be so entertaining? I don’t know why it struck us so funny but it did and it was just what we needed to pass the time while we waited on the bus. After about 45 minutes, a Downtown Disney bus pulled up and we were off. We decided to get off at the bus stop near Planet Hollywood and walk down to the Vinylmation store since Jesse had recently gotten into the Vinylmations. First, I had to take a picture of Ace Ventura’s Jeep:

We made it to the Vinylmation store and while everyone else was looking around, I snapped a few pictures:

It was getting a little late by the time we left the Vinylmation store and some of the stores were closing up shop for the night. We strolled through Downtown Disney and back to the Marketplace just because. No real reason other than to just spend some time together. After all, it had been a few months since we had seen Lacey and Jesse. We caught the bus at the Marketplace stop and, miraculously, there was no driver switch when we got to the Pleasure Island stop. Before long, we were back at the resort and discussing what we were going to do the next day, our Hollywood Studios day.

**Up next: They did the dash. The Toy Story Dash! They did the dash! (Sung to the tune of Monster Mash because it’s almost Halloween.)

Lacey didn't have her Disney brain going. I hear Gangster and think Ganster side on the movie ride. :thumbsup2

Hi again Lisa! Love the update!!! I'm with Hunter, I don't like the food at Ohana either! Loved the atmosphere though! I love the Poly! Wish I could stay there one day! But what is with their buses??? I have always waited forever for a bus there!! :confused3 Maybe most people take the monorail, so they buses don't come as often?! Who knows?! Still love the resort though!! We eat breakfast at Kona every trip! So good!!! And DH loves to stop to get some sushi at their sushi bar! YUCK!!! :crazy2: Glad you all are getting to spend so much time together! :grouphug:

I don't know if you have missed me, but I have been MIA.
Sorry to hear about all the goings on in your family but glad to hear that your Mom's surgery went well.
We would love to eat at Ohana's but I have at least one (maybe three) family members with a shellfish allergy!! They would not be able to bring it to the table at all. So, no dinner for us, but we are going to go for breakfast next fall!!
