Excuse me, could someone tell me where this should be posted?

Kath, I am honestly not trying to cause trouble here, but everywhere I have read and even on www.wdwinfo, the Downtown Disney Resorts are listed as on Disney property
Located on property at the Walt Disney World ® Resort, the seven hotels of the Downtown Disney Resort area offer something for every visitor, and every budget. Just a short walk from all the fun and excitement of the Downtown Disney Marketplace, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney West Side, there's no limit to the fun your family will experience at these fantastic resorts.

So now I am confused myself since I always thought they were on property too which is why you are allowed to participate in some of the same things that other Disney resorts & the Swan/Dolphin allow. I realize this is a moot point and I really am more curious if we are all being misinformed or not right now about their location.

And I am sorry for taking this off topic a bit by asking if they technically are onsite or not, so please forgive me for that :)

With the huge volume of posts and threads here on the DIS, it would be complete CHAOS if there were no posting guidelines. There are thousands of unmoderated sites out there on the web where you can run rampant and say and do as you wish. Perhaps I have far more insight on this topic, being a moderator myself, but I commend those who work here on the DIS reading thousands of posts each and every day and making decisions on a 24/7 basis. As Disneymad stated above, feel free to report posts that you feel require moderator attention, but don't expect to be in control of the outcome.

Or you can always go start your own board.....:teeth:

They are on Disney property. Maybe the person who moved it just
did not know that fact. They arent Disney owned, but are on Disney property.

I don't think that mod was a mod when she started that thread.

Helenabear, can those hotels use the transportation system Disney offers? Guests staying at the Swan/Dolphin can.

I believe the Disney Resorts board is designed to discuss Resorts that are deemed to be owned, built or run by Disney. The Swan/Dolphin are right in the Boardwalk Resorts area and are closely aligned with Disney as far as contracting for Disney transportation, etc.

Downtown Disney hotels are not considered to be "Disney Resorts". You can take a Marriott and lease it some land adjacent to Downtown Disney, but that does not make it a "Disney Resort".

In any event, the line has to be drawn somewhere. That is up to those in charge of the Resorts Board and I certainly have no problem abiding by the DIS guidelines that they choose to draw up.

What's being overlooked is that there are informed responses to the thread over at the Orlando Hotels/Attractions board.

Perhaps the OP should take a look. It appears that she's getting the info that she's interested in.

Actually, this is not my battle you guys can do it any way you want. I am just saying I can understand why she was upset. These hotels are PRINTED and listed on the official Walt Disney Resort map Transportaion guide map I have. In other worlds Disney put these hotels on the official Walt Disney World Resort
transportation guide/map.

I think these hotels use their own busing system. Though it is my understanding thatanyone with a park hopper can use the Disney Resort buses to hop around Disney World once they get there.

Thanks for that info darrose. I would assume then that they are since they are "Official WDW Resort Hotels" That's really all I was curious about since I help friends plan trips and have claimed that they were on property but not WDW run hotels. I wanted to make sure I was not misinforming my friends. I know not all the perks are the same but they do share some (like E-nights last I knew) and things like that matter more to my friends sometimes than who run them.

Sorry for being a tad off topic but as I said I didn't want to give out wrong info. And sorry I completely ignored what this whole thread was supposed to be about. I'll slither away quietly now ;)

Well I can certainly tell you it doesn't belong on the CB.....

sheesh people......

Boosmom: I think they want people to report post to a mod when they are upset about a topic that nots supposed to be on a board.

just my opinion: Though they are on Disney property, I do not think of them the same way as I do the other Disney resorts.
I don't know how else to say this so please dont slam me oh who cares go ahead if you want to slam me but to me they dont feel like disney, if you know what i mean? I think the question does belong separate from the other disney resorts.
:D :D

No slams from me:). I adore Disney resorts especially because of the easy transportation!!!!

Elaine, I'm confused myself. I suppose this is why I don't moderate resorts :teeth:

I will clarify how I make some of my moderating decisions on the Resorts Board.

If someone asks about about a DTD hotel I don't consider it a Disney Resort. They are 'Good Neighbour' Hotels. Until they get "Walt Disney World" in their name, they will continue to be considered Good Neighbour hotels.

Now then, about the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. Many people here know that Disney don't own those hotels, but unless you've researched it somewhat, on the surface they DO appear to be Disney Resorts because they are stuck right in the middle of 2 parks. Hence, and exception is made and they live on the Resorts Board.

It's what Resorts are deemed to be Disney Resorts by us, the Webmasters and the Moderators of the Resort Board, but it really is just common sense.

I love threads like this!! Someone asked a question, opionions were tossed about, and then the official word comes in. Thanks so much responding so quickly and so nicely.:)

And I thought that was just me today  ;) Glad to know I am in very good company there :)

And I am glad to know that the question at hand seems to have been resolved in the midst of my confusion :)

You guys better be good or this might get locked for being off topic. BTW Beth I know perfectly well what you are trying to say.

I responded to it, but only because of this thread. If this thread hadn't been posted I never would have gone over there to look.:D
