Just remember, you are reading someone elses opinion. It may greatly differ from yours. Just because they didnt like the Poly experience doesnt mean you will too! I stayed in the concierge building before the last rehab. I also read some negative posts before my trip. Well I found no tears in any carpet, nothing noticably worn out, and most of all, no musty smells, and I am extremely sensative to smells. I loved the Poly, If my funds were unlimited, the Poly Concierge would be my NUMBER ONE choice always.
Your choosing to stay at one of Disneys original resorts, it should feel that way when you walk in. Focus on the great, being on a Monorail resort is awesome!. The view from your room will be spectacular, one you will not forget! The rooms are quite comfortable. The pool/beach area is great.
And one of my favorite things was the concierge itself. The food by far was better than any other concierge I have been to yet. The building is small so it doesnt seem over crowded, the people who work there are awesome, go up at night for a snack and to see Wishes, its an awesome view. relax on the hammock on the beach, take some fantastic family photos with the Castle as your back drop. Oyyyy Im making myself miss it more and more!
I will say there were no towel animals, in fact I have not seen one of those in over 2 years and it was at POR, but would I trade the opportunity to stay at the Poly for that? NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!! And I dont want to spoil any surprises you might get, but lets just say they wil more than likely leave you a treat or two!
Also, when you check in you dont have any long lines at the front desk, and they will help you with anything you need, its great!. We always buy to much stuff, the concierge did all but pack it up for me! They came and got my boxes and did the arranging of the shipping.
I do not think you will be disappointed, relax, enjoy being able to stay in a piece of Disney history, I know for me, when I was a kid visiting DW for the first time, as the Poly came into view from the ferry, I was in Awe, and thought that the people who were "staying in the park" were the luckiest people in the world.
