Exchanging for another resort???

For those of you who have exchanged your pts for a week at an Interval International accommodation, how many pts did it cost you and for what resort? Do you really have to give them three "geographic locations" for the same week? How did that work out for you? How far in advance did you book? I appreciate any and all help. These boards are great!

Your question is too broad to answer fully but let me give you some basics. You should anticipate giving up somewhere between adventure and magic points at OKW for the same size unit as you request or accept. Occasionally HH aventure will be an option and therefore less points. Likely the only time you'll give up less points than the unit size you receive is if you have an ongoing search and get a larger unit than requested. Of course the other banking, borrowing and home resort priorities apply which can put one in the position of giving up more points than might otherwise be required.

II's rule is that you must give them 3 choices. That could be 3 resorts or 3 weeks. Nothing says you must give them 3 locations at the same time. You could even set things up where they could only possibly match one choice for the main time you're requesting, if that's what you desire. If you need to know how to do this, let me know. Also, II will frequently waive the 3 required rule for searches far out or out of high season though I don't know if DVC MS will skip over it.

If you're looking at exchanging, make sure you find out about the resorts you're requesting. Do they have a full kitchen, is there AC, what are the start days for checkin and the like. Also realize that most resorts are a trade down for DVC, especially for the WDW resorts. There are only about 10% of the II resorts on the DVC list I'd consider an equal exchange and a large portion of those are Marriott's. Given the internal Marriott trading priority, that makes them difficult to get at peak times.
