Golly, I don't know. Both of my kids wanted to go to school. Maybe tell him about all the new friends he'll make, all the fun stuff he'll get to do.

My son will be starting school soon. So, any tips on making him excited in going?

Sorry can't help, i hated school from the time i started, that is one of the reason i never went to college.

We had gone to a camp this morning for new incoming Pre-K, and kindergarteners, and at the start he was not a happy camper, but he liked it more at the end. I think when it comes to me having to drop him off at school, it might be a toughy, but we will see what happens.

What are 3 fancier/pricier main or side dishes that you enjoy eatting at home or at a restaurant?

I would choose crab cakes, soft shell crab sushi, and a really good piece of steak. And if I were to choose dessert, tiramisu and a chocolate souffle.

Lobster, Crab Cakes, ? (i would go to a restaurant, so that John could get a steak he doesn't like sea food.)

Crab cakes! We haven't done that in a while. Thanks for the idea. Crab legs. Does fruit cake count? I only make it for Christmas and its very expensive to make. It's a family recipe and it's very yummy. DH wishes I'd make it year round.

I would also like to try a top of the notch lobster po boy sandwich. I like mayo to keep my sandwiches moist, but with alot of lobster added in.

Steak/seafood

I don't know about side dishes. We really don't eat at fancy restaurants. Most of the places have salads or baked potatos as a side beside regular vegetables.

When we go to Vegas in September, I hope to eat at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill.

Going to my cousin's house for her daugther's birthday dinner. We always bring over food/desserts... I want to bring new dishes, so need ideas, and recipes. Please share. What do you usually bring over when invited for a dinner party/dinner....that is homemade.

For something sweet Gooey Butter Cookies based on St. Louis' famous gooey butter cake, are ALWAYS a hit. 1/2 C (1 stick) butter, 1/4 tsp vanilla, 1 egg, 1 (8 oz) cream cheese, 1 (18.25 oz) box butter recipe (yellow cake mix=Duncan Hines), non-stick spray, powdered sugar for dipping, beat butter, vanilla, egg and cream cheese until light and fluffy, mix in dry cake mix, cover and chill for 30 mins., preheat oven to 350 degrees, lightly coat cooking sheet w cooking spray, drop dough by teaspoonfuls in bowl of powedered sugar, roll into balls, bake 12 mins. or until golden brown. Yields 4 Dz.
OR
a cheese ball w crackers, 2 cream cheese, 2 C shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 C. mayo, 1/2 C. parmesan cheese and pepper to taste, mix above together until smooth, and add: 3 green onions chopped, form into ball, center on plate and surround with crackers or wheat thins.

Good luck and enjoy the dinner!

Thank you. Do these cookies come out flat once they are done being cooked? I need help in finding cookie recipes that do not flatten, especially for peanut butter cookies.

I have never had a cheese ball before. Not much of a cheese person unless it is on pizza, and other things-preferrably melted, or in the stores, but can't remember doing to a party with one.

Patsy, Yes they do flatten out somewhat, but not completely, and I sprinkle a little more powdered sugar on them if need be. Each time I make them they turn out a little bit different, but they're always devoured by everyone, the first thing to go.

I was listening to a friendly debate on the radio yesterday morning - If you could only pick between one or the other, would you rather have a sweltering hot summer or a zub-zero winter?

I chose the hot summer; the summer is 'alive' and green, and I can always get cooled off. Winter makes me depressed and I can't ever get warm.

I would take the hot summer over the cold winter any day. We have a/c and sometimes i need to steep outside cause i get too cold, in the winter i can never seem to get warm.

I would probably pick summer. I hate to sweat but you can always step inside into the A/C or go for a swim. But the landscape can be just as dreary in the middle of the summer as in the middle of the winter. Cloudless, blinding blue skies with brown grass that crunches under your feet. Cracks in the ground an inch or so wide and several feet deep. No wind and humidity to where you feel you are breathing water.

Today is nice though. Even though it's hitting over 100 for the 20th day in a row (I believe that's it), the wind is blowing and there is a cloud or two in the sky. I can take the summer heat as long as I have clouds to look at and a light breeze.

And I can't forget the large trees that provide us shade!

I would choose the heat. You can stay indoors to keep cool, and since I live in a tropical area, and have never experienced a white winters season, I don't think I could even come close to really cold temps.

I'm going to a Bridal Show this afternoon, after brunch, with my best friend who is getting married next year for the first time. I'm already wondering what on earth I will get her/them for a wedding gift. At our age we're already established in our lives with jobs and houses, etc. She's lived with him for years and already live like they're a married couple. The wedding will be a big ta-do for their parents sake. What are some ideas I can get her/them? I have no clues.
