The only school lunch that i liked and would buy was the pizza, every other day i took a pb and j. (yes till this day i can't stand pb and j sandwiches).

I always bought lunch and would never really pack. I played sports/had band before school which would result it me being to lazy to pack in the morning. My Dad didn't know what to pack, so money on my school lunch account was a lot easier.

My favorite were the chicken sandwiches, meatball sandwiches, and chicken pot pie!

I will come over! You can cook for me

:goodvibes Headed out to BZ again tonight for tryouts. Told you we live there.

When you were going to school, what school lunches did you like, and dislike?

Depending on the grade/school I could go home for lunch. (I'm that old) I remember PBJ or soup when I packed. I was a weird kid. Once we hit Jr/Sr high we didn't have to stay for lunch and it was either the pizza place or the little store that sold sandwiches across the street. Our caf wasn't that great.

I took my lunch mostly all the way through high school. I always had a sandwich w/lunchmeat, chips and a fruit of some kind or cookies/sweets. I bought my milk.

But when I did buy:
Elementary school - chicken fried steak w/gravy. Also the rolls were to die for. Sometimes I would buy my dessert. Our ice cream came in packaged bars instead of tubs so we would buy that and graham crackers and make our own ice cream sandwiches. Some of my friends would buy rolls and ice cream and eat those together.

Jr/Sr High - the pizza and chicken fried steak w/gravy were pretty good. That's all I remember wanting to buy.

Back then the weekly menu was always posted in the newspaper so we knew ahead of time what was going to be served that day.

My kids will only eat in the caf on Taco Salad day or Pizza Hut Pizza day.

Did you read about the school where the principal decided you HAD to buy lunch? He thinks the kids are bringing in unhealthy food. ???

Yes Lynne i did see that, and i think its a bit ridiculous.

As a side note after reading all the school threads on the CB, i have come to the conclusion that my sister needs to home school my niece.

I did not eat school lunch much, but liked the turkey pastrami sandwiches. Did not eat creole macaroni, sloppy joes, and many other things.

Having to buy lunch? That is not fair. :sad2:

What is your most favorite meal that your DH, SO, ex boyfriend.... had made for you?

DH making ME dinner??? :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Ok, sorry that might sound rude...but Chris doesn't really cook. But he sure makes the BEST microwave TV dinners I have ever tasted! :wizard:

That is OK though, I don't mind making dinner...

Hehe, Johns idea of cooking is calling for pizza. :rotfl:

He even knows how to cook and is really good at it he just does not cook, however i love to cook so its all good. :goodvibes

DH likes to BBQ in the summer months, but other than the odd brekki or burger tends to avoid cooking.

I love it when Joe makes breakfast burritos in the morning! As for dinner, in the warmer months he usually grills something on the weekends. I'm looking forward to getting a new grill next month. He also uses the smoker and does really good brisket and ribs.

My daughter had done a report on R.R.R.-(recycle, reuse, and reduce). In what was do you, and your family R.R.R.?

Recycle:

We put out a recycle can every other week with the trash (as per the trash company's directions).

Reuse:

I reuse the plastic grocery bags. A few miles up the road the township has recycle bins, they used to have one for the plastic bags, but stopped collecting them a few years ago. :confused3

Reduce:

use different light bulbs

have energy efficient appliances

have a different heat source and though it needs electric, it is much cheaper then using the electric heat.

have a hot water tank that uses kerosene instead of electric.

keep a lot of things unplugged when not using them.

never leave lights on if not in the room, and now that its spring i will open all blinds and use the outside light instead of the electric. (except for days that is cloudy)

Recycle - we recycle all we can now that we have a service that picks it up. We have more in our recycle bins then in our actual trash. Our plastic bags go back to the grocery store for recycling. Sometimes I ask for paper sacks instead of plastic. I use them to put my paper items in so they won't end up all over the neighborhood when the wind blows.

Reuse - we reuse plastic bags in our small trashcans instead of buying new. We reused glass/plastic jars to hold things, big boxes to help carry things, etc.

Reduce - I use fabric grocery bags when I don't ask for paper at the grocery store. We place the regular light bulbs with the more energy efficient ones as they go out. I hope to start a compost pile soon so that will further reduce our trash amount. We're going to have to replace our A/C units this year so we're looking at propane for heating and cooking. Our windows are big so when the days are sunny, most lights are off during the day.

Recycle: Bottles, cans, plastics, and green waste. We have a food recycling program in our city, but found that the local pests kept getting into the container so I stopped it for a while, but may try it again in the next couple of weeks.
Reuse: I've got some really great tote bags that are made of recycled banners that I got from the city works yard. They compact down to nothing and I use both of them all the time, and it cuts down on the amount of plastic bags I bring home. In fact I use them so much that it's cut it back by 75 to 80%.
Reduce: We use Energystar appliances when replacing old ones, our washer uses a 1/4 water of what a normal one would use. I am a light Nazi and am constantly turning off lights. We are on a water meter, and are careful about our water usage, despite the kids being water hogs. Energy efficient light bulbs. And try to keep the amount of chemicals used in the house to a minimum. We don't use pesticides, in fact they are banned in our city for lawns.

I used to use the the reusable sacks for groceries but when i started shopping at Walmart had to stop because the cashiers just didn't seem to know how to pack one, they even tore my Disney one that i had.
