Do you have a neighbor(s) that you trade favors with? Like watch/feed their dogs when their gone for the day or vacation, pick up mail/newspaper, etc?

We have our next door neighbors that we do this with. In fact, I'm letting their dogs out today a couple of times while they are gone. They watch our place while we're gone too. We also have a couple of other neighbors that we can rely on if the ones next door aren't available.

As far as cleaning, I pick up daily, vacumn and clean bathrooms on Friday. It's just a good day for me to do that. When the kids were little, I had a schedule like clean/scour kitchen on Monday, dust on Tuesday, vacumn on Wednesday, etc. I had to have a little organization to my life or I would have went crazy! :crazy2:

The neighbors to our right have watched our dogs for the weekend, and we've cut their grass when the DH got hurt and couldn't do it for a couple weeks. The neighbor to the left, is elderly, and isn't home much anymore these days. We pick up her papers out of her driveway and keep an eye on her house. Her children are getting her used to an assisted care facility. DH trim her yard and mows it sometimes when they're not around.

My sister lives right across the road, so she gets our mail when we go on vacation. John used to do the yard work and fix things in the house for her, until her boyfriend moved in.

Sometimes if the other neighbors grass gets too high John will mow it, and he will plow the driveways if we get a lot of snow. They send us a Walmart gift card (these are not permanent neighbors).

Usually someone is always at home, but if not then my uncle or our family friend would come over to feed our pets. We usually help my uncle out when he, and my aunty are away since they live right down the road.

My daughter's club will be hosting a bake sale table, and all of the parents are being asked to provide a soda box full of assorted baked items. I have things in mind, but wanted to hear everyones suggestions, and maybe....if any of you have any yummy good recipes, I could maybe make those. So feel free to post any recipes that would work well as well.

What would you make, and what items would be your top five to buy?

Cup cakes

Chocolate chip cookies

Banana bread

Rice Krispie treats

cupcakes
brownies
pumpkin bread
rice crispie treats
poor man turtles (small square pretzels, rollos, pecans)

Thank you for the suggestions. These are all items, I am planning on baking, had seen others suggest about while reading about bake sales.... we had actually done one at the starting of last year and there was a nice turn out of all kinds of things.

The only thing I could think to add to the others lists are Sugar/Spice Pecans but they might be too expensive to make.

I usually make chocolate dipped pretzel rods with sprinkles and use the school/team colors.

I saw really cute cupcakes...If I knew how to post a pic quickly I would! They're rounded, and iced and then covered in one color of sprinkles. Then they put one of the flat round lollipops-same color as sprinkles sticking out and then a candy leaf (looked like the jelly mint kind) so it looked like a little flower. They showed them in all different, bright colors.

pennst8r, what type of chocolate do you use when you make your pretzel rods? Do you add anything to your chocolate, and how do you get it from sweating, and having the chocolate stick onto the packaging?

Tomorrow is my sons first day of kindergarten. My baby will be gone :( all day at school along with my daughter. He is my last, and I will not have anymore kids, but sometimes wish I could.

Do you ever wish that you could have more kids, or adopt?

 I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Patsy.

I'm not sure if we'll be adding any additional kiddos to the family, but I've always thought of adoption as an option to consider.

It will be okay Patsy.

I just sent youngest DD off on her first day as well; but she is a Junior in high school this year. :scared1: I think I'm beyond wanting anymore kids. We're already thinking of getting them all out and perhaps in a few years we'll have grandchildren.

I buy the chocolate wafers they sell to use in the mol which I don't think is real choc ;) I can find them most places, including Walmart, craft stores and even a few grocery stores. I don't add anything to it, just melt it and dip the pretzel rods, spooning the chocolate so it's at least half way up the rod. I put waxed paper on a cookie sheet and put some sprinkles on it so when you lay the coated pretzel down that side has sprinkles, too. Then I sprinkle the sprinkles :goodvibes on them. I put them in the fridge until they set. Then I put them into bags....Wilton brand sells long thin bags for pretzels that aren't expensive, but you can wrap them in Saran wrap, too. Maybe let them out of the fridge a few minutes before you wrap them to avoid sweating? I color coordinate. For our school I'll use white choc wafers and blue sprinkles.

another quick yummy bar cookie:

Get the refrigerated rolls of Choc chip cookie dough. I use 2 large ones for a 9x13" pan, but you can make it smaller I'm sure. Cut up candy bars--I usually use a bag of mini MilkyWays because I like to have it completely covered with the candy, but you can make it with as much or little as you like.

Bake the pan of cookies. When they're done, take them out and put the cut up candy on top, and put it back into the oven for just a few minutes more until the candy melts a bit. Take it out and cool completely. Cut into squares.

They're easier to eat if they're at room temp, but they get really gooey if you let them get too warm. I've kept them in the fridge until I take them places.

Are you able to get fruits, juices, or other products that has the island flavor such as papaya, mango, guava, passion fruit, pineapple.... and if any, what flavors/products do you enjoy?

Thank you for this recipe, sounds yummy!

Thank you both. Seperation was not as hard as I thought, and he had a big smile, and wave for me as he saw me waiting for him at the bus stop. I think it was harder for me, then him.

Tried this...I must be doing something wrong, or wonder if it has anything to do with the humidity since our chocolate dipped strawberries also sweat. Will have to search for those bags since we do not have any stores here that carry them.

Yes we get the fruits and juices. I have only tried pineapple.
