EXCELLENT Alamo rate!

I'm leery of calling Alamo, as I haven't had good luck with calling any car rental agency over the phone for help. Where does the 7011339 coupon originate?

Joann,
What codes are you using? The best I come up with is approx. $200 (tax included) for a mid-size SUV for 8 days. Maybe it's our dates - May 26 thru June 3? :confused3

That coupon is from alamo but you have to use that code and the coupon code together... you can't mix and match. I did by accident (mistyped the 2 & 4 in the "D42C" coupon code but turned out to be a real coupon anyways...

"D42C" is from alamo too but it's for $15.00... however, when I use that code combined with the walmart code, I do much better than with the 701... number.

Good luck!!

Hi I went to the costco site and used the 25 off one I did may 1 to the 11 picking it up at the airport and returning it there. We have vouchers for ME but want a car aswell and it is cheaper doing it from the airport rather than the car care center or the Swan

D24C is an entertainment coupon code that you get from their web-site (not in our book).

Where do you print out the coupon D24C? I have an Entertainment card and went through the website to book it, but for some reason don't see where to print it.

Thanks!

www.entertainment. com, Travel section, rental cars, National & it has direct links to the different on-line only coupons as well as duplicates for several in the book...good luck.

I thought I read somewhere back in this thread that you could mix and match. I got the best rate using the Wal-Mart contract ID 430710 with the BY rate code and the DY8B coupon from the Entertainment book. It accepted it and gave me a great rate. Am I going to have problems when I pick up the car?

Even though others have posted no problems, I'm somewhat apprehensive too.

Worse case scenario, I don't think they'd penalize for the actual codes (IMO, much more of a price factor than the coupon) - but, could deny actual coupon (based on the language printed on them & on web-site).

I just changed my Alamo reservations (10 days minivan $426). I got an email from Travelocity, searched for the minivan I wanted, used the Walmart code (from mousesavers website!) and got a better rate of $386.12. Since I have 4 months left till vacation, I will keep checking....

Using this thread and all available resources I have had no less than 6 reservations using different rent a car companies, rate codes and coupons
(D24C and D42C) for my upcoming trip April 11-April 19. Each reservation has saved me money or gotten me a bigger vehicle. I just reserved from Alamo a minivan Chevy Uplander or Similar. Using the Walmart ID 430710, product code BY and coupon code D24C the quoted price total is $252. Wonderful. I printed out the confirmation and where the coupon credit is applied it read "Air Miles Gift Certificate Us ($50.00)". Past attempts at making similar reservations using D42C always rendered "$15 Alamo weekly coupon in this space". The D24C coupon code came from the entertainment website and was intended to be $25. I'd like to go with it and see what happens, but I am a person who hates surprises especially ones that cost me more money. I could always relegate it in my mind that I will pay $302 and if Alamo doesn't catch the "mistake" then I get it for $252. Anyone experience the same thing today or have any comments on my dilemma. Thanks!!!

mine res. using d24c just sez: discount $25 & on next line...discount coupon accepted.

Of course I used the contract id # (from the website) not walmart (which was the same price BTW) or the one in the enter. book? If you click on the on-line link it should work.

There should be no problem mixing and matching codes however, you have to look at your coupon. If your coupon states that you need to use in conjunction with a certain rate code, than you need to use that rate code. If no specific code is required than you can mix and match as works best for you!!

After reading this thread I am thanking my lucky stars for the deal I got. I booked a midsized SUV back at the beginning of February for the first week of June. I keep looking trying to get a lower rate but the rates are just going higher and higher. I got the SUV for $157 tax included.

Alamo's coupons all have this bit of legalese:

Not valid with any other discount or promotional rate, except an association or contracted discount.

I'm not a lawyer but, I interpret that to mean: you can't mix & match a "dedicated" coupon (ala, entertainment book) with a CODE. However, you may w/a different contract ID discount (walmart, costco, etc.)

To further complicate things, if you book w/entertainment contract ID & a coupon, leaving the code section blank, the site will automatically fill in a code for you (not always the best one either).

However, people who have recently rented insist they've had no problem (?).

well as of this morning the rates are down again for the minivan I am still getting 104 after taxes for the week.

HI!
If anyone is traveling soon using multiple discounts, please let me know how it turns out when you get home.
I have been bragging to my family that I got us a SUV for 19.00 a day and I would hate to get to the counter only to find out I owe more.
I don't see how at the counter when we check in they can deny us this rate. The computer should not be able to except multiple coupons/rate codes/corp codes if they won't be honored.
