Ex Guide

OK, this is a tough one,but I think you already answered it above. It goes back about two years ago. I made a reservation for my home resort, AKV at about the 11 mo mark, for a 1 BR savanna view at Kidani. I checked in early on line as soon as I was able. I didn't have any preferences. We arrived at the resort about 11 am. We were told that our room was not ready, which is fine. When we were checking in, we were also told that there were other rooms that were available. My husband said no, we would wait for the original room, thinking that the original room would be better in some way. We were given a 1BR on the fourth floor facing Pembe savanna. The tree growth totally blocked view of the animals. To make matters even worse, I later found out that the room adjacent to ours was a "standard" view. I don't understand the thought process that justifies placing loyal, longterm repeat customers in a room that is, quite frankly, subpar. Yes, I know that the resort is totally booked, and that somebody has to stay in the suboptimal rooms. But, guests should be assigned the best view available that satifies the criteria of their reservation at the time they check in. Not only did the room have a bad view, the water was connected incorrectly in the laundry, so, if selected cold water wash, it was hot, and everything was rinsed in hot. There were lots of other small issues with the room. Oh, and the most irritating part of the situation was that the animals were taken in between about 6 am and 9 am, so, we never got to see them when we were sitting on our balcony. From our room, we could see them peeking out of the enclosure behind Pembe savanna. One day, we got to watch them mow the savanna, and almost every day we got to enjoy poop rounds. Of course, I complained, but only got the stock response.

This is s TS thing, not really a DVC thing. Some upgraded rooms ie. view etc are border line. Enough complaints about 1 room, they might switch like BLT but in general being loyal and long term is not a consideration when they book your room.

What's the most points you ever sold, or heard of being sold, on a single sale to an individual? And also, to a corporation?

probably around 150 guides
probably 15 or so from home
probably 100 in SSR
Celebration in telesales so only like 5 or 6, the rest from home I think
There are minimums but they are low. You have to really be bad to get fired. You will go broke before that.

How many guides are there, how many work from home, how many at SSR, how many in Celebration?

Why doesn't DVD let the members know about the sales centers at the different resorts?

What is the average pay treatment for a guide, commissions, bonuses?

How many sales are you expected to make?

Thanks

:earsboy: Bill

I have seen a few members over 2000 and 1 or 2 over 3000
Most guides have never sold a 1000 point contract but there are a few who have

Do the guides really understand the cost structure of DVC purchases and choose to focus on the initial price per point to be deceptive? Or do the guides really just don't get it to begin with?

Do guides really buy the math that 2-3 trips will pay for itself?

Guides focus on sales like any other sales organizations :)
You are taught 7 or 8 years break even although with prices going up its closer to 10 now. Its against policy to sell as an investment, that will get you fired

Has it been harder to sell as the price has increased over the years, or is it just as easy as it was from the beginning?

What are the licensing requirements for Guides? Do Guides have to have a license from each State in order to sell DVC in Hawaii, California, and South Carolina?

Just in the state you live. All resorts have to get registered to sell in each state
