EWP group?

Slightly Goofy, I wanted to thank you for that wonderful post about the "Bestest Friends" it really lifted me up and even though I have been known to kill a post or two, I will never worry about this there. Right now I really am enjoying sitting by the pool drinking my lemonade. It was a hot sticky day and this is just a perfect way to end the day. Anyone care to join ISAW Rider and I?

Helenabear, we took our kids to the Columbus Zoo many years ago and it was nice then. I like Jack Hanna and bet he has improved the place even more. I was born and raised south of Columbus so I know the area. I come around there once in awhile as I have a best friend and a sister who live there now. Maybe we can meet for a lunch or something sometime. I am usually over the Reynoldsburg way. I am glad that you liked the 'Bestest Friend" thing but that is the way I operate in the real world. I am a bit older than some on this forum and I have noticed how people flow in and out of your life as you age. Things change and life alters cases. Some people you never see again but others are still around on the fringes and you reconnect from time to time. I have some super friends that have been here for me thru the years and I hope that I have been able to make a difference in their lives. I would not want this thread to become a chore for anyone. When you are out and about on the DIS and you meet someone with a sense of humor and the ability to be as verbose as we all are please invite them to join us. Many hands make light work AND give us fresh insights on this wonderful world of ours.

I found the greatest site the other night while playing with our high powered computer. It had real time videos of most of the Disney rides and attractions. It would have taken me a half hour or more to download on my old Pentium but it just whizzed by on our wonderful Pentium 5. I was able to 'try out' some of the rides I was not sure of and determine whether this poor weak person could survive such excitement. I have added a couple of new rides to my list. Kilanmenjaro here I come!!! Poachers be darned.

Rider, did Willy and Sonjarella meet on the DIS forum? I have a sister who met and married a guy she met on the Internet. Wild world we live in but I think it is better to meet on the Net than in a dark bar where you might not know what you had until the bright light of day hit it!:p

Janet, I am an old married lady and the only feelings that Kass and Don could arouse in me would be purely maternal. (mostly) I never have to share my computer with my DH cause he cannot dial the phone for himself even. He does have one great thing going for him. He thinks I am just beeeeautiful!! I bribe his optometrist and it has worked for nearly 30 years. LOL

Bashful, we have been looking all around for you. I hope you are out having a good time and not still mired in work. We will keep a cold drink ready for you.

Slightly Goofy

Hi Everyone!

How are you all doing, today?

Glad to hear that you had a nice time at the zoo, Helenabear! It sounds great! I haven't been to an actual zoo in so long! I went to the Bronx Zoo several years ago, which was nice. And the Six Flags park which is somewhat near my home has a drive-through safari, which I visited a few years ago. Also, I have only ever been to Ohio once - to visit my friend who was attending Miami University, at the time. Thanks for offering wedding preparation advice, too - I appreciate it! And belated congratulations, again, on your marriage! I have actually been through this once before - 10 years ago - so I'm (unfortunately) somewhat experienced when it comes to wedding planning. Perhaps you might be able to offer me some advice with regard to dealing with "pre-wedding" / "pre-cohabitation" jitters. I have been living alone for the past 5 years and am feeling very anxious about DF moving in (which he will do in October). I've gotten sort of "set in my ways" and used to my personal space (maybe that's an "only child thing", too), and don't want to offend him if I need to spend time by myself or in another room, once he's living with me. Any thoughts, Helenabear or anyone else????? Thanks!

And I'm sure that you have never "killed" a thread, Helenabear! As I said, you're stuck with us - you can't get rid of us that easily (hee hee!)!

SlightlyGoofy - I definitely know what you mean about people and relationships changing over time. I am lucky enough to still have close friends from elementary school, summer camp, high school, college, and even previous work places! I love that they are still in my life and I love to stay in touch by phone, e-mail, or letters (I still like hand writing letters!). But over the past few years, I have noticed my relationships with some of my friends changing - many of them were getting married or having children when I was just divorced, so our lives were very different. But I appreciate the friendships as they are, even though they may not be what they once were (it's taken me a long time to be able to feel that way!), and I'm grateful that those people are still in my life.

I think I know which site you're talking about - it must be "Digital Disney"! I love looking at the videos on that site, too - it's the closest that I have ever gotten to riding Splash Mountain and Rock - N- Rollercoaster (notwithdstanding my plans to ride Splash Mountain with Helenabear - sorry that we were not able to do that, yesterday, it's a shame that they temporarily closed the ride due to thunderstorms when we were there, isn't it? We'll have to go back tomorrow and see if I can work up my courage, once again! I don't know about all of you, but I am going to spend the afternoon floating around the "lazy river" in Typhoon Lagoon!)! It's a really neat web site!

I'm not certain as to whether Willy J. and Sonjarella met on The DIS, or if they knew each other beforehand. Maybe one of the other EWP Ladies knows. Regardless, I think it's great for them! And I sure do miss those "corn posts" of old!

How is that canal coming along, Bashful64, Webmaster CC, and TiggersMom? It will be so neat when it's completed - we'll be able to see the EWP, Fantasmic, and IllumiNations, one right after the other! We may even be able to see all 3 simultaneously! And have the Jacuzzi Brothers (A.K.A. Imagineers) resumed work on our jacuzzi, Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki? Can't wait till it's installed so that we can try it out. We'll have to host a party and invite our other friends from the Community Board to come and join us! At that time, perhaps Janet2K can give us a sneak preview of her EWP Suite documentary!

Hope that all is well with all of you! Have a nice day!:)

Hi Girls...

Sorry I've missed you for a couple of days...

Don't you just love our new Jacuzzi? I've been to the store this morning and got some Chips Ahoy chunk cookies for 65 cents a pack. There's a pack for each one of you in the kitchen...just let Kass know when you want some. And don't be getting any crumbs in the Jacuzzi.

I can tell you a little about Sonja and Willy, as I was in the chat room when they met. They did meet right here on the DIS last year. I think she was attracted to his corn revolution charisma--he was attracted to her charm. The rest is history.

Anyone want to hop on the Disney bus and go to Blizzard Beach with me this afternoon? I've been feeling the need for a little water slide ride.

Hi everyone,

I have finally surfaced from my home office and am ready to come and play. I think this new jacuzzi is just lovely! If you don't mind I think I will just spend the day here in the suite letting Don and Kas fulfill my every whim. I hope that youhave all been well.

IASW I think that the canal is almost finished. I had to abandon my efforts as works was calling my name. I am now ready to pitch in and help finish it off though if I am needed.

Well I hear a cold drink and the jacuzzi calling my name.

Maybe we can all meet for dinner later.

Oh goody - the jacuzzi is ready! I still say we have a jacuzzi party for all of the Community Board folks!

I will come to Blizzard Beach with you, Rafiki, if you don't mind coming to Typhoon Lagoon with me, for a bit. I left SlightlyGoofy and Helenabear floating around in the lazy river there, and perhaps we can pick them up and bring them with us! And maybe we can convince Bashful64 to come along for awhile, too!

That's so neat that Sonja and Willy met right here on The DIS! I love hearing stories like that! Did they just become engaged very recently, or did they become engaged awhile ago and are just telling people about it, now? I am so sad that the "Classic Posts" Board no longer exists......though I did print out the original corn posts, while they were still on line, so I have them in hard copy form and can look at them on days when I need a good laugh!

Speaking of "good laughs", our Suite is so much more fun and happy than what's going on in my "real life" work........my assistant hasn't shown up for work for over 2 weeks......without even calling in! He had basically announced that he was taking a 2 week leave, and though the leave hadn't been formally approved, he just stopped showing up for work and doesn't bother to call anyone to let us know if or when he is planning to come back! My boss was laid off a few weeks ago, and the attorney who works with my group just resigned, today. I have a secretary that spends all day on the phone making personal calls, and "calling in sick" when ever she stays out too late the night before. We have a support person who spends all day trying to undermine the other people in my group, while simultaneously trying to get eveyone to feel sorry for her. There are maybe 3 of us who are actually doing work, and who are carrying the group at this point. UGH! It's one thing after another, in this place!

Anyway...................... off to the water parks!

:)

Ooooh... jacuzzi here I come. It's been a rather busy day for me, so I am just checking in. I am so glad others feel as I do about friendships. It will be nice not to have to try with anyone here.... makes drinking my lemonade so much more relaxing. I am also glad that I cannot kill this thread, that just makes my day!

You know Rider, we waited until our wedding night to spend our first night together. I mean we were stuck in the same hotel room when we were stranded in Pittsburgh during a massive snow storm but that is not the same. I had many roommates through out college and got used to a lot so when my DH and I moved in together, we were happy. We were finally married and it didn't matter. Now he has habits I could kill him for (and vise versa I am sure) but we manage and we are actually quite fine. We spent a good portion of our time together, so we knew how the other was. I am sure you and your DF will be just fine. Honestly I feel that if you have spent any amount of time together you will already know what you are in for and I am sure your DF knows the same. Just now when my DH does something I do not like, I camly tell him and only when I have to tell him for the 50th time do I yell and scream and pull his hair out... I mean firmly tell him I do not like it but I love him dearly! I think if you two are meant to be, it will not be a problem.

Well all I have to run... my pillow is calling :D See you guys tomorrow.

Thanks, Helenabear!:)

I guess I'm just getting a little nervous and stressed - I constantly worry about things for no reason! DF and I have always been very comfortable spending weekends or vacations together, so I really have no good reason to worry.......but I worry anyway!

OK - time to stop worrying and time to start planning tomorrow's adventures! We had so much fun at the water parks today that I think I'll try some resort pool hopping, tomorrow!

Have a good night, Everyone!:)

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I'll catch up on all the above posts this weekend when I get a minute. For now, I just wanted to let you know that I am taking scuba lessons in our Jacuzzi with an instructor by the name of Fabio Licious. He's as dreamy looking as his name sounds, and he looks wonderful in his scuba suit. Well, I'm off. See you all on Saturday!

Janet, you'd better quit inviting men in...my DH is going to get jealous.

Rider, sorry I missed your search for advice on the DF issue yesterday. DH and I moved in together somewhat before we married (you know, that about killed my Catholic mother) and there were some really tense moments at first.

Just make him understand before he moves in that your time alone and time on the DIS means an awful lot to you. Once he gets that, I'm sure everything will be okay. Just work it out before you move in together. That will make things a lot easier for the both of you. Approach it with--"I don't want to mess things up between the two of us...I'm rather set in my ways. I want us to be happy together." And then ask him if there are any requests he has of you before he moves in. You may be surprised to find he has a few of them himself!

By the way, I've invited Buckalew to join us. She has just returned to the DIS from an absence and could use a Jacuzzi. Ya'll welcome her when you see her.

Hi, everyone. Our suite has grown so in the past few days. It's so nice to meet all of our new friends. Surely, we have our own EWP BUILDING by now. It seems I have missed quite a lot--for some reason, I stopped receiving updates to our thread about a week ago, and I have had quite a lot of reading to do this morning to catch up. I sure hope the jaccuzzi is up and running and there's room for one more. I sprained my ankle on Monday when I jumped up trying to reach something over my head. I just know the hot water will make it feel so much better! Maybe I can just rent one of those motorized scooters for a few days. I would hate to miss Fantasmic tonight--and maybe we can just scoot to the front of the lines until I'm up and walking again. I'm going to take advantage of Kas and Don for the next few days, LOL.

I think I will have to join you IASW Rider for the pool hopping. It sounds like a wonderful relaxing thing to do today. I haven't been to a few pools that I 'd love to see, like BW & WL pools. I have been to a few others, but these sounded so nice to me. I am glad I helped to put some fears aside. It really was much easier for me than anyone told me it would be. They all said the first years were full of tough adjustments, but honestly I like being able to spend more time with him and not have to figure out who is where, when... AAACK!

angelina sorry to hear about your ankle... but I am sure the new jacuzzi will really help it a lot. I am sure we can get you a scooter so you don't have to miss a moment of the World. You know out of all the times I've been to MGM, I still haven't seen Fantasmic. That might be a good thing to go watch tonight before the beloved EWP (if the timing is right)

Janet, where do you find these men :D If my DH saw all these wonderful men he'd wonder what I am really doing here all of the time ;) Scuba lessons do sound wonderful though. Maybe if I keep up with them I can do that scuba excursion at The Living Seas I have heard so much about!

Missed you ladies yesterday but could really use the jacuzzi and the services of Don and Kas today, they do do massages, don't they?
CC

Oh my heavens, just look and see what I missed. Now you know that the only thing(s) that could keep me away are my grands. I just cannot say no to them. They are mighty hard to refuse. My 4 year old has refused to give me permission to move permantely to our resort. I have promised that I will shuttle back and forth often. I pointed out that there were advantages to granny being at DW all the time, visits etc. but he contends that is not the same as being able to drop by granny's house and getting a hug and story on demand. Please forgive me for my absenses but I am sure you will understand. It is really the best of both worlds really as no one can live in such perfection without being jaded and lose the magic altogether but no one in their right mind would want to live in the 'real world' all the time either. Too stressful.

So much going on around here. I see Janet has acquired yet another manly man. Wonder what she uses for bait? And those names. My heavens their parents had such abilities to pick the perfect names to match what they would grow into. I just love the 'scenery' around here. And useful they are also. Such a great combination. I just love that in a man. Swoon~~~

Angelina, next time please let one of the guys do your reaching for you. Now if you do decide to get a scooter don't forget to look truly pathetic so people will know that you 'deserve' to be in one. Some seem to get a bit bent out of shape if you look 'healthy' while riding in one. (smile)

Rafiki, something I have used often with DH and my children and now occasionally my grands is "I am in a bad mood, it has nothing to do with you but I need a little time alone cause I do not want you to suffer". Doesn't always work but sometimes? When you marry at an older age it seems that you are both set in your ways a bit and it takes more adjustment but then you are more mature and more able to work through the things. There is a good chance that Rider's DF might wish some time alone or with his friends and interests also. As long as they work together and do what is right for them (and not what others expect) it will be fine. An older friend of mine told me that marriage is like a roller coaster, sometimes all you can do is hang on and scream until things even out. LOL

Rider, just spend as much time together as you can until you marry and it will not be as much of a shock to your systems. You don't really know anyone until you live together. As long as there is love AND respect it will work out. I have been married for almost 30 years and it is ever changing and evolving. When the kids left home it all changed and now that retirement is here (DH is a lot older than I am) it is changing again (grimace) LOL. After reading your description of your working environment I think you up to any organizational challenge and up to dealing with anyone else's little or not so little quirks. You are ready for marriage.

Helena, your husband ONLY has to be told 50 times before he learns something? You lucky gal. I read something once that said - The reason women nag is because men do not listen. How true. (grin)

Bashful, I am ready for dinner any time you are. Do you have any suggestions? I feel up to something new this evening. You pick. As long as it is calorie laden and totally devoid of nutritional attributes I am all for it.

Slightly Goofy

IASW - the canal is coming along nicely, if you think Don and Kas are hot (from the Fla. humidity of course) you should see the construction guys we hired. And congrats on your engagement!

Rafiki3 - baking up something yummy for our afternoon snack, cyber weight is my favourite kind, you can gain and lose in the same day. ;)

Angelina - hope your ankle is better soon

To the rest of the ladies, I am thinking a spa treatment is in order soon, anyone care to join me, this face could use a facial and these shoulders need a massage from too much time in front of this computer. :)
Have a good day all!

Hello everyone!

Wow today was a nice hot day here! I am enjoying my time relaxing and doing nothing! Somehow the nice humidity of Ohio just sucks the energy out of you... but hey, it's great training for trips to WDW. We just had a nice evening. We went over to our new house (okay it was built in 1947 but it is new to us) to take some measurements for our furniture. This way I know what I need to buy for the rooms :D Actually I think I have most of the house covered which is amazing. We will just spread out our current family room arrangement between our new living room and family and maybe just buy a chair or two as well. My only problem I think is that I have to find a way to make sure my babies can look out the front window better... I'll have to work on that. The rest of the rooms are more than covered which is a good thing as we don't want to spend too much money on "unimportant things" while we should be saving up for Disney.

WOW, I am more drained than I thought I was. I had better shut my trap and relax a while more. I think CC's idea for a spa treatment is well over due for me. I certainly loved my aromatherapy treatment from last Oct at the GF Spa. Maybe I can get Jean Paul again. Ooo was he a cutie and he did an excellent job!

Oh Elaine, my friend Webmaster Michelle had a massage from Jean Paul when we were there in April and she loved it. The fact that Jean Paul was gorgeous had nothing whatsoever to do with his magical fingers. ;)

Sorry to be so late SG. Would you care to join me for a late dinner at the Coral Reef? I think I would like to just sit back and watch the fishies swimming lazily by. Might make me feel a little more relaxed after such a hectic day.

Cathy you name the spa and I will be there with you and Helenabear!

IASW my DH and I lived together for 2 years before we got married. It just happened to be the way things worked best for us. I'm sure that you and DF will be fine. I can't wait to hear all about your wedding plans.

Janet where do you find all these gorgeous men. Between them and Cathy's construction workers I am going to stain my eyes! ;) (DH says it's okay as long as I look but don't touch).

Angelina I'm sorry to hear about your ankle. We will have to make sure that Don, Kas and Fabio look after you for the next few days.

Rafiki x 3 I am so happy to see that Buckalew has returned to the DIS. I will be happy to welcome her to the EWP suite should she decide to come and stay with us.

Hello, EWP gang! I thought I’d pop into the Dis while my scuba instructor Fabio Licious refills my scuba tank. I didn’t realize how dangerous scuba diving was. So far I’ve had to be revived at least ninety-nine times (but who’s counting?). I tell ya, Fabio Licious is the best instructor. He never complains when he has to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Gosh, it’s no wonder I love Walt Disney World so much. Well, gotta go. Surf's up! I’ll pop back in again soon. By the way, there's an extra forty-nine sets of scuba tanks, masks, and fins sitting in the "It's A Small World" shrine room. Grab yourself a scuba set and come on down to the Jacuzzi for lessons. It doesn't matter if you can't swim, take my word for it, Fabio is very good with the mouth-to-mouth stuff. Well, I'm off. See ya soon! Bubble… Bubble…Bubble…

Oh, I just found out that there is a Dis meet on August 4th at the GF, which is right next door to our resort. They're meeting in the GF's lobby at 9pm, then they're going outside to watch the Electric Water Pageant. I think we should invite them over to our suite, what do you guys think? Here's the link to their thread: http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71824
