EWP group?

Wow, it has been so very hot. I spent most of the morning hanging out at Ice Station Cool. Can't get enough of the Watermelon but I do enjoy watching people sample the Beverly. LOL I got caught in a snowball fight there one time and have noticed that they have had attendents the last few times I have been there.

I am grateful that our swimming pool is an indoor one. I am staying right here until it cools off a bit and then I am going to head over to Marketplace to enjoy the breezes over the lakes there. It is such an interesting place especially in the evenings. Ghiraldaldi's will be my dining place this evening. Must have a balanced meal so I will have a scoop of vanilla, chocolate and raspberry. (grin)

Rider, I was so hoping that you were doing better. Poison ivy can be miserable. I have several friends who swear by the bleach and I cannot see where it would hurt. It IS to be diluted though, not full strength. Has your sinus infection cleared up?

I am glad that you reinforced my intention to not go see the new Planet of the Apes. I am going to Jurassic Park though. I love special effects so I go the movie theater for those kinds of movies and rent the rest when they hit the video market. Living on a retirement income has made me even more thrifty than I was before and believe me that is going some! Fortunately I rather enjoy bargain hunting, it is an adventure. My DH thinks I am crazy. Probably so. (smile)

Cathy, can you work for Dreams and work from home from anywhere in the US? If so, it is a dream job indeed. I would love to be able to earn some money while working from home. I do the secret shopper thing but am not too happy with the assignments I have been given. They add more requirements after I sign up and it takes so long that you end up making very little. Maybe if I lived near a bigger town it would be more lucrative. It must be so rewarding to help people plan a dream Disney vacation. It is a special kind of person who appreciates Disney and all it entails.

I had better check the ice box for some of my special tea that I requested and head on down to the pool to see what those lovely young men are up to. I might find Janet while I am down there. She might be out shopping for more 'help' for our suite?

Slightly Goofy and Really Hot

Hi all, just popping in from the heat outside. It sure is hot here!!! Although I missed your suggestion for the Luau last night Wendy, how about going to the late show tonight? I think it would be a wonderful way to end today. Anyone care to join? Oh and thank you Wendy for sharing those wonderful insights into your life... and I am glad to know it isn't "just you"

Shannon, I wanted to thank you as well for sharing about yourself. Some find it easy and some find it hard. I personally don't mind too much since I figure that's about all we have to go on here... words. I wish I could say I have met some of the wonderful people on the DIS in person, but alas, the imaginiation will have to do me some good ;)

I know it sounds odd Lisa, but I watched my friend wash her hands in bleach after touching the poison ivy and she didn't get a spot on her hands. Try it, and hopefully it works. Hey the smell of the bleach might help your sinus infection too :) Also apparently if you take it and spray it outside, it will kill the poison ivy you have in your back yard. I cannot vouch that this works, only my friend said it, but she is a pretty reliable source.

I too was wondering where Janet was... maybe she is interviewing some new men for our suite :D I wonder when she shall return....

Linda, I think you have a good idea to go over to that evil evil place at the Market place. I make some wonderful brownies that would go great with icecream... and surprise they are made with Ghiradelli chocolate powder. They are yummy... I may have to go make some right now!

Well my knee is feeling a little better. The bruise looks nasty now, but it should be fine soon. I was just told at work today that we would be getting MORE work. My supervisor is wonderful but I feel like I am behind as it is. Oh well, it makes heading out to El Rio Del Tiempo all the more wonderful after work. I did pass by the Ice Station as well. So was that you Linda making the snowballs? What fun to play with in August in Florida. Well I think I am going to take a nice dip in the pool and listen to the beautiful underground water there. I may take my scuba gear as well since I have had such luck with our diving instructors. That way I can listen to the music for as long as I want. See you all soon! Bubble... bubble... bubble...

Good afternoon Helena

I am so glad that you could drop in while I was 'in house". I am glad you are not mad at the snowball I tossed your way. It seemed like a good day for such foolishness. This place just brings out the kid in me.

You will just have to log on while you are here visiting and get a bit of work done in between the parades and fireworks so you won't have to do all that work when you get back. Come to think of it I bet we have a few people who could probably help you out with some of the work. Many hands make light work you know. I volunteer to do the typing.

You should make up some exotic excuse for the bruise on your knee. Maybe some pity will get your workload eased. I have been doing dumb stuff today, washing the car, yardwork and cooking, cleaning etc. I am sure glad I do not work. I don't have time. If I had a magic wand I would turn my husband into a bologna loving man. Now tell me, isn't it unreasonable to want pork chops and all the trimmings in this heat? LOL

I would love to be a fly on the wall to see Janet's interview techniques. I am sure that it would be most interesting. (grin)

Good evening everyone, Just checked in here for a quick moment. It's been a busy day here. We went to garage sales all day with MIL and SIL, it was fun. MIL was driving, what an experience for us, she said she's going home to tell FIL that she had a driving lesson today. My two younger children are sleeping at friends, too bad the two older one's are still home, could have had some romantic time with DH, oh well. At least i'll get more computer time. I really need a soak in the jacuzzi then i'll join you at the Laua. Wendy aka jstmee

Jstmee, a little advice from an older woman who has been in the trenches. Next time you want some alone time with your DH just announce to your children (works better with older ones) that it is clean up the house time. Theywill immediately get extremely tired and retire to their rooms for the night. LOL I used to hide the Christmas presents with the cleaning supplies as I knew no one but myself ever went there. Must have gotten this devious mind from my mom who used to put the books she wanted us to read on the top shelf and the others on the bottom. (great big old grin)

How wonderful for you and your kids to spend time with the in laws. I just love family time. Wish I had more of it. My DIL is not interested in me. Not personal, she didn't like any of her other mil's either. I have plenty of other young people in my life but it just isn't the same. Pity party over, time to go enjoy some magic. I want to go over and enjoy Spaceship Earth and then later I am going to have a late lunch at the little Cantina and get a table seat for TON. I just cannot watch that parade enough. It gives me goosebumps.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today.

Hi all, just popping in for lunch today... I think I will just eat cookies that I keep stealing from the concierge lounge.... bad me. Actually today is kind of more laid back as the supervisor is out today at some sort of training class. But I know tomorrow I will be hit with another project to work on. Oh well... as long as they want to give me work that's fine because at least I know that I should have a job to come to ;) Well I should get back to work but I had to pop in to say hi!

SG, you are brilliant!!!! And had me ROFLMAO!!!!!!

I'm thinking those white chocolate macadamia nut cookies would hit the spot too Elaine, and Kas, be a dear and bring more iced tea please. :smooth:
CC

Hi everyone!

How are you all doing today?

IASW I hope that you are feeling better today.

SG you are too funny! I now have a new place to hide all of my CHristmas presents thanks to you.

Hi Elaine...aren't those cookies addictive!

Hi Cathy! I hope you don't mind if I join you for a glass of iced tea.

Hi wendy and welcome tot he EWP. I hope you enjoy it here.

BTW has anyone seen Janet since she left for those scuba lessons a few days ago?!?

Hi Everyone!

Thanks again for all of your kind words! I think that my headaches are beginning to subside and DF says that my arm looks better (although it still looks like a big mess, to me!)!

Anyway, I've been trying to keep my mind off of itching by boating around the Seven Seas Lagoon in a little motorboat - very relaxing! Also, a nice way to catch some breezes on a HOT day, such as this one! Also spent some time on the white sand beach outside our resort - I'm so glad that they have those cabana chairs set up - it was a nice place for an afternoon nap! After a great evening of ToN and IllumiNations with SlightlyGoofy and Company, I am ready for a soak in the tub, some of those cookies which Webmaster CC suggested, and a good night of sleep!

Hope that your knee is feeling much better, Helenabear! And hope that you don't have too much work piled on, tomorrow - remember, we have our group outing to Fort Wilderness and the Hoop Dee Doo Review, tomorrow night, so you have to be well rested!

I think that we may have lost Janet2K, temporarily, Bashful64! Last I heard, she embarked on a special Disney Scuba Cruise, as Fabio Licious has licensed her as his Assistant Instructor! I'm sure that she will be rejoining us, upon her return......and may even bring some interesting sailors / cruise personnel to join our "staff"!

Have a great night, everyone! :)

Hi all!

I hope you are all having a good evening. I was lucky with work today, I didn't get the new project that I thought I would. So life is good there and I am all rested for the Ft. Wilderness treck. I think I might join Lisa on her boating right now. That sounds like a good idea right now. You know, I've been scuba diving and I haven't seen Janet there. I wonder where she could be. I hate to say 'hi' and run but I need to get a few things done tonight before having fun with you all at the Ft. Wilderness. Let me grab some peanutbutter cookies first.... munch....

Helenabear and everyone else - Life is far too interesting to be spent in this suite all the time. The purpose of this suite is to give us a quiet relaxing place to hang out in when 'real life' becomes too much or when we want to get together to plan another DW adventure. I have to admit that it is tempting to spend more time in here as everything is just so wonderful. Did you see our newest CM? His name is Bo Dacious. He is an expert life guard and is here to watch over us when we are engaged in dangerous water activities. I heard that his hobby is flower arranging so he will be able to add to the atmosphere in more than one way. (grin)

I was over at Pinocchio's today and I swear I saw Rider on IASW. She was grinning from ear to ear. The dolls looked happeir than I had seen them in some time also. Truly the Happiest Place on Earth.

I am going over to see "Tarzan Rocks' and "Lion King" this evening. I enjoy all the energy of the performers. Since I am driving over I will be able to enjoy a leisurely dinner at RainForest before returning to the suite in time for the fireworks over the lagoon. Please come along and keep me company?

Slightly Goofy

Now that I am done with my dinner... can you believe I forgot I was making rice until my DH told me it was done... oops... now I will sit back with my frozen lemonade and enjoy the evening. You know I was reading a really good book today. It is called Partners In Pleasure by Dr. Paul Pearshall... now I will say it is not about pleasure in the sexual term, but it is how to keep a happy marriage... Hawaiian style. It felt very fitting to read in a place like this and I completely have to agree with what he is saying. The summary of what he is trying to talk about is that in any relationship (whether married or not) we have to go under the "we" thought instead of the "me" thought. Like some people say that 1+1=2, but for the Hawaiian thought process 1+1=1. Like instead of taking rocks, you get two when you add one with the one, you should take two parts of water and when they mix it is still two parts of water. I couldn't feel more happy sitting here reading that book surrounded by this atmosphere... there could be no better place than to read this here and now.

I am so happy that it is finally cooling off here today, but then again it is supposed to be hot again tomorrow. So now that I have finished another chapter, I think I will go boating for a while if they still let me as that is one of the best things out there to do. I hope everyone has a great evening and remember when you are cooking so that you don't do what I did and leave the world behind the moment I came here. Aloha!

Helena, if you would please give me the info on how to get my DH to read let alone understand or agree with this book I would appreciate it. LOL

I believe that the secret to a happy relationship, marriage, friendship or whatever, is respect. If people have respect for each other and their feelings things will work out. I couldn't make a lot out of that idea though as it would not fill a book. JMHO

I took a group of older friends out for lunch today. We had a fun day except that one lady locked herself out of her house and I had to threaten her to keep her from finding a ladder and climbing up the back of her house to get in. She is 84. On my way to drive her to her daughter's home to get another key she found her key in her purse even though we had looked several times before. I need a little excitement from time to time so I can appreciate the nice boring times. (grin)

I have to do yardwork and clean the house tomorrow. It is supposed to be near 100 so look for me tomorrow evening. I will be hunting down one of those nice frozen drinks that Don is famous for and hunting for the nearest a/c vent.

Slightly Goofy

Glad to hear my cyber bestest friends are well or doing better. And SG glad you stopped your feisty friend from using the ladder!

Now on to Bo....... I think tomorrow out to be a pool day, the new one at the Grand or AKL, which is your pleasure? Althought the Grand has these lovely cabanas where we can post to the DIS and of course Bo would be at our service as well as being our personal life guard. :smooth:
Anyone game? :)
CC

Dear Cathy

If I say I am game, will you shoot me? (grin) Either pool is fine with me but why limit ourselves to just one?

Slightly Goofy

shoot me lol
This is such a "feel good" place to be.!!! I sure needed to read all of these wonderful posts today. hee hee especially about respecting people, i.e. spouse and the 1+1=1 very nice anology!!!

IASW I sure hope you're poison ivey goes away soon. Sounds like your over the worst of the sinus infection.

I will join any swimmers for a romp in any pool, just let me know which one. I definately can't wait for the Hoop dee doo Review, I've been waiting for that one for a long time now. I will have to use my time traveller again since I have to go down to Connecticut with DH to pick up his company car tomorrow. I am so tempted to use one of his free airline tickets to take a quick Disney trip just for my self this weekend. We are going 9/22-10/3, but he travels a lot and he'll only be home until next Thursday. I figure, I could fly down Saturday through Wednesday............. I could use priceline for hotel and car....maybe just stop in at the travel center.OK TRUTH, who thinks I'm crazy Remember, I'll leave him with 4 children..... Oh yes, and did I mention, I don't have much money either.?? Slimfast?? Will that do?

For now, I'll wait for Bo Licious, I booked a massage with him, then I'll join you all at the pool. Have a lovely evening. Jstmee

Any pool is fine with me, Webmaster CC! Going swimming is definitely the thing to do, today - it's supposed to be 115 degrees, with the heat index, here today! Unbelievable!

Thank you for introducing us to our dedicated lifeguard, Bo Dacious, Slightly Goofy! He's already fitting in nicely with our EWP personal staff! Please be careful if you're doing yard work in this heat, today.....and PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR POISON IVY!!!!!! (I am still miserable - may go back to the doctor in a day or 2. It seems to be improving - I'm trying not to put anything on it, now - but it's healing so sloooooowly!)

That sounds like a really interesting book that you're reading, Helenabear! Maybe I will read it, too! I agree with SlightlyGoofy - that respect is the most important aspect of a successful relationship - respect and trust and the ability to be true to one's partner and also to oneself. I think it's very important to really be able to be yourself with the person you're with and know that you love one another for who you each really are.

And I also occasionally forget that I have left something boiling on the stove.....particularly when I am engrossed in The DIS - don't worry - we all do it, sometimes!

Jstmee - I'm right there with you - I have fantasized about hopping down to WDW for a weekend, on the spur of the moment, too! I wish that it was that easy! I keep trying to justify it to myself - "how expensive could it be?".......Oh well - I'll have to force myself to wait until June! Fortunately, your WDW trip is coming up very soon!

SlightlyGoofy - OK - you caught me - that WAS me, sneaking in a ride on IASW! Even though I know that I should be resting out this stupid sinus infection, I couldn't resist a quick trip on the "happiest cruise that ever sailed".......as well as a Pinocchio's cheeseburger (I have always maintained that no cheeseburger ever tastes as good as having one at Pinocchio's Village Haus while sitting at one of the tables which overlooks IASW!)!

Well, time to return to the "real world" and work, for awhile......but I'll be back in time for our afternoon swimfest! Have a great day, Everyone! :)

Jstmee, you can get free air tickets? OK, rooms are just $49. Get a friend who wants to go and is willing to pay for the room in trade for your expertise in guiding her around. If you have AP's that covers the admissions. If food is the only time stopping you I have the cure for that also. Eat 2 meals a day in the room and only eat one meal in the parks. If you chose carefully you could probably eat for around $10-15 a day. I take a microwave with me and acatually cook 2 meals in the room. Not really so much t o save money but just to have a relaxing meal without crowded food courts or travelling all over to find food after the parks close. With 4 children you deserve a break for yourself. It would really be doing your family a favor. It would give dad some time to bond with his children (not to mention a new respect for what you do on a daily basis) and your children would realize what all you do for them when you are not there to do it!!! I say you should go for it. (grin)

Rider, I have asthma so I have to take it easy when doing yardwork. I go out and work for 30 minutes and t hen come in a rest for 30 and so on. Of course when I am inside 'resting' I am doing laundry, cooking, cleaning etc. etc. I have a retired husband to dust around. Sigh. Even more fun is the days that my lupus is acting up. Then I feel like the tin man and need some WD40 to keep moving. I was on a site last night checking out poison ivy. My dear friend told me to tell you her hint. I do not reccomend it though. She says she burns her poison ivy spots as she can treat a burn but not the ivy. Ugh!! Like cutting your finger off because of a hang nail IMHO.

CC, you done good organizing that pool tour. I had never really checked out many of them before. I had always thought that the Port Orleans dragon was the tops but you showed me new heights in beauty and fun. We are so lucky to have someone with your expertise and fun loving nature here to guide us to new experiences. Thank you.

Slightly Goofy

SlightlyGoofy - how are you able to travel with a microwave??!! Do you take it on the plane with you?! Nifty! Thank you for researching the wonderful world of poison ivy, on my behalf. I have also been doing some on-line research - I learned lots of interesting things, too! There are some things that I always assumed about poison ivy, which are not true, such as the fact that it is not contagious and can only be "caught" from the plant itself. Also, that it does not "spread" due to scratching or contact, but rather because it was there all along but was just "dormant"! Anyway, enough of that yucky topic! Thanks for thinking of me, though! :) Hope that you are accomplishing everything that you need to get done, but are taking it at least somewhat easy in this heat!

I'm loving this pool hopping, too, Webmaster CC! Let's try Stormalong Bay, next - I've never been there before!

Rider, I drive to Florida. DH will not fly besides I like having our car so I can drive around instead of waiting for buses and such. I have a handicap card so I can park up front. I can walk but cannot stand in line for long periods of time. You would be surprised at what I can whomp up with my microwave. It is very restful to sit for a quiet breakfast before we hit the parks or when we return to the room and enjoy a nice pasta meal or something. I keep everything neat and organized and put the microwave on the luggage rack in the closet along with my 'kitchen' box. I gave up renting a fridge as the price was high and so was the temperature it kept the food. A small cooler handles everything we need easily. The maids always compliment me on how neat the room is and how easy it is for them to clean.

I did not learn much about poison ivy for you that you did not already know. I have known of people who inhaled the smoke from ivy being burned and had dire consequences. We had a bit of the terrible stuff at one time but it is long since gone. I hope you are much better today. It rained a tiny bit and I went out and pulled weeds then. Rather get wet than get overheated. It is supposed to rain more tonight and trivia has been cancelled for the night so I will have some free time to enjoy our suite and plan our next adventure. I think one of the tours would be great. I just read about a Christmas decoration tour. Sob. We will be gone before it starts. Can't do it all no matter how much I try.
