EWP group?

Wow, so much is going on since I left. A jacuzzi!! I had not thought of that one. What a wonderful idea. I just love the way that our rooms surround the community area and then the the deck surrounds the whole suite. You get such great views all around the property that way. The private elevator sure keeps the wait down to get to our private kingdom. I was talking to the concierge today and he said, if we don't mind, he would assign one of the indoor pools and exercise rooms for our exclusive use. He felt that with the large amount of people we had in this suite it would work better for everyone concerned. I fear we will have to get poor Don some help though as we are just too much for any one man!:earsgirl:

I am a bit worried about so many Leos in one place. We have a tendency to rule the roost but I have a feeling that the rest of you will keep us in line. Happy birthday to you all. Why not have a birthday party for all of us this weekend? Just what we need, an excuse to celebrate!!

Janet, I love the buttons saying "EWP Groupie" Sounds so good rolling off the tongue. You are a poet, did ja know it? Bet your feet are Longfellows. LOL

Rider, you are our tour guide for this evening. I love the agenda. Some of my favorite stuff. Do you have your agenda for your honeymoon all planned out yet? I bet you do and I bet it is a doozy.

Angelina, front row seats? Wonderful. We were all the way in back. It was not bad t hough as we had some interesting people in front of us. They must have been DISers cause they knew everything about DW and were exponding at great length. I enjoyed listening to them almost as much as I enjoyed the show. BTW that was one of the most expensive meals we had at DW that trip cause we got in late and had not eaten all day and were sorely tempted by all the vendors over and over again. LOL

Have a great eveing ladies and I will try t o keep up with all of you, Slightly Goofy

Wow all that dancing and partying wore me right out.....I just woke up. What's everyone doing for luch today? Anyone mind if I tag along?

Hi, My shoes are off, my legs are up and my four children are outside doing their chores. My identical boy twins turned 13 yesterday, so I'm recuperating from their sleepover. I also have a 9 year old girl and 8 year old boy......also boy 20 and granddaughter 11 month old girl, they live in Germany. (I am too young for this, LOL) Only 63 more days until Disney--yes I must remember to call to reserve at Cindy's.

I am a SAHM and volunteering at school, etc. keeps be busier than working. I can feel the warm breeze and am enjoying a nice cold lemonade. Ahh.

Welcome, Jstmee! Glad that you're here to join the fun!

Looking forward to using all of our private facilities, SlightlyGoofy! You're right - maybe we should make sure that Don gets some help. I think I heard that they were sending another private conceirge by the name of Kas A. Nova over to the suite, this evening! We have not yet plotted out the "official honeymoon schedule", though there are a few things which I know we can't miss - among them SpectroMagic! Unfortunately, I was never able to see MSEP "live" - only in pictures and on TV, and I have the soundtrack. It (along with SpectroMagic, now) only seemed to run 2 nights a week during the past 3 times that I was at WDW, and those 2 nights always turned out to be either our last night there, or the one day of the week when we weren't there! (By the way, I know that I've said this before, but did you all know that the EWP was actually the "prototype" for the original MSEP at DL? The EWP came first, in 1971, at WDW. It was designed to signal the beginning of the Luau at the Poly each evening - and that's why it still passes by the Poly first on its route, every night. It also used the "Baroque Hoedown" music before it was adapted for MSEP at DL. So, one could say that the EWP is actually the "grandparent" of SpectroMagic!) We really need to see SpectroMagic next year! We did get to see the floats up close and even look inside them, on the Backstage Magic Tour last month, though! We also saw a demonstration of how each of the types of lights that are used in the parade work, on the Tour. It was really interesting.

Angelina - When we saw Fantasmic last month, there was a couple with a 2 year old daughter sitting next to us......and the little girl fell asleep before the end of the show and slept right through the "explosive" finale! You are very brave to sit in the front row - I have an irrational fear of loud noises and always sit toward the back, as a result! I like your idea about waiting for the fireworks and the EWP out at the dock with a pina colada - mind if we come along, later?

Bashful - Sorry that we missed you for lunch, but why don't you pick a restaurant and we'll get a group together for dinner!

Have a nice evening! :)

Hi, jstme, it's so nice to meet you. I'm another sahm of 3 years, and I agree, I work harder now than I did when I held a "paying" job. As for Fantasmic, Rider, being so close to the characters when they passed by on the riverboat was terrific. I don't remember that it was nearly as scary and loud as I feared it would be.

I would love for everyone to join me this evening for drinks on the dock in between the EWP and fireworks at 10:00. See you there.

Hi Amy, This is such a friendly place. Makes you feel sooo welcome. I can't wait to have breakfast with Prince Charming tomorrow. As for tonight, my DH and I will be dining at the Flying Fish, then enjoying a romantic stroll. Heee we are actually going across to Canada for a seafood dinner then a movie..... But I will be dreaming of Disney.:bounce:

Angelina - I'll be there with my illuminated bracelet on!

Jstmee - Have a nice evening at the Flying Fish.....and in Canada!

Whew, may I please pull up a big comfy chair and a footrest. If one of you younger ladies would please bring me an iced tea, no sugar, I would bless you name. I know what Snow White felt like even though I was only surrounded by 2 small people. I am going to figure out a way to harness that energy and I will never have to pay another utility bill!!! I had to make a short trip back home to tend to some business and get a grandkid fix. Love those little rascals.

OK, Rider. Fess up. You have got to be the person who names things at WDW. (Haunted Mansion graveyard?) You take words and spin magic with them. Cass A. Nova. My lands, you sure know how to pick them. I feel like swooning already and I have not even met him yet.

The MSEP was the very first parade we saw with our children on our first trip. Even our jaded, much traveled children were in awe over that one. I can still hear the music all these years past. I was young enough to sit on a curb in those days. I can still sit on the curb, I just cannot get up. LOL Rider, thank you so much for the background info on the parades. It makes thing so much more enjoyable to know the 'back stories'.

jstmee, I love your name. It says a lot about your sense of humor. You will fit right in here. Welcome and please remember the only rule is to have fun. Any suggestions are most welcome. The world would be most boring if everyone was the same and wanted the same things. I am looking forward to getting to know you.

I am afraid that I have not introduced myself to you all. I am an almost 53 (this Wednesday) homemaker with 2 plus children (I have a step daughter who is close to my age so it is hard to think of her as a daughter although I would love to be her friend.) and 6 grandchildren who all live close by us in a small town in IN. My hubby retired about 2 years ago and we travel a lot. I volunteer for the local schools, library and wherever I am needed. I am majorly into helping peopl be literate and tutor our oldest grandson who has Nystagmus and needs help to get through school. I am a former refunder and coupon queen and read an average of a book a day. If everyone else would like to introduce themselves I would love it. We are not Survivor or Big Brother, we do not vote people out and vote everyone in.

Bashful, where did you end up going for lunch? Give us a review so we might decide whether to go there ourselves. Being that we are going to be here for a year we need a wide variety of places to eat. Wonder if it would be possible to eat at a different place each and every day? I will have to go into Deb's and count how many places there are. Interesting idea. No, some places deserve to be visited often and over and over.

I think I will spend the evening in the hot tub waiting for the fireworks and parades. I deserve a break today.

Slightly Goofy

Here's your iced tea, SlightlyGoofy! How was the play, today? I'm sure that it was great! How are your Grandchildren doing? I appreciate your compliment! But I doubt that I "have what it takes" to become an actual Disney Imagineer and be one who names things at WDW (much less creates them!) I was actually just chatting on line with my friend who works down there (or shall I say "down here", as we are all ensconced in our lovely suite!). He has worked a few stints with WDI, so I know the range of talent and skill that one must have to do so........and unfortunately, I do not qualify. :( I wish I could say that I did, though, and I appreciate your confidence in me! :)

COUNTDOWN TILL SLIGHTLYGOOFY'S BIRTHDAY: 3 DAYS!!! Janet has the decorations all ready and we will be having a big party, here in the EWP Suite!

I will introduce myself to the Group, as well! I am 34 years old, live in Central NJ, and I'm an Assistant Vice President / Trust Officer with a large and well known brokerage firm. As you all know (and I'm sure are tired of hearing!), I was engaged at the Polynesian last month, and my fiance Frank and I will be getting married next June and spending our honeymoon at the Poly (same week as this year!). I have no children, but I do have 4 cats : "Laverne", "Shirley", "Boo Boo Kitty", and "The Big Ragoo"! Frank has 2 cats of his own, so when they all join us, it will be like a "Feline Brady Bunch"! I am also a book-a-day reader, and I love to take photographs and videos and spend time with friends, in my spare time. I also love the theater and enjoy seeing Broadway plays in NYC, as well as productions at our many great regional professional theaters in NJ. I'm a big fan of the NY Mets and when I can't get out to Shea Stadium to see games, I enjoy seeing the Somerset Patriots, our local professional team, play. I'm a lifelong Disney fan, and have been visiting WDW since I was 6 years old! I'm a big fan of all of the classic MK attractions....particularly It's a Small World (as you can tell by my "name")! Many people are irritated by that attraction, but I may just hold the world's record for riding it the most times - it's been my favorite (and my traditional first "stop" when visiting WDW) since childhood! Perhaps its "fate" that I love IASW and the NY Mets, as the 1964-65 World's Fair Grounds (location of the debut of IASW) happen to be right across the street from Shea Stadium (where the NY Mets play)! I am also, needless to say, a big fan of the Electrical Water Pageant ("EWP")! It's been entrancing me since I was first awakened by it with my mother, from our Contemporary Resort room balcony, in 1976! I try to see it as many nights as I can, on each of my trips to WDW. And I was lucky enough to see it up close, at its dock, when we took the Backstage Magic Tour, last month! It sounds corny, but it really was a thrill to be able to walk right up to the barges and examine them in daylight, see where the drivers sit, etc. (I didn't dare touch them, though!) I love The DIS and am so happy that I have met such wonderful people and made such great friends, here!

Hope that all is well with everyone! I'm calling room service for a midnight snack, now! :)

You guys look like your having so much fun and I heard the party from down the hall - Can I come in?

I am a WDW addict and DIS fanatic - the EWP is a must in my household and a bone of contention due to our staying at Boardwalk for the convention. I am trying to have a canal dug so it comes our way but I keep misplacing the keys to the backhoe.

I am 39(and will be for the next few years). I work both outside the home and have my own business. There are 2 guys who hang around my house and eat all my food, but they like WDW so I let them stay. One has some money so him I like, the other just spends the money so I am not so sure about him yet. But after 16 years I suppose I kinda like him too.
We have 3 dogs -sorry no cats, the 16 is allergic. We head to WDW about 3 times a year, next trip in 17 days for the pin event - My name is Tiggersmom and I am a disney pin addict. Have to say that part of the 12 steps to recovering from pin addiction. We are also convention bound and hope to meet everyone from the DIS we possibly can.

. :earsboy:  :earsboy:  :earsboy:

Hi TiggersMom!

Thanks for joining us! Glad that you're here - you can teach us about the intricacies of pin trading and collecting! It's wonderful that you are able to visit WDW so often! And it's great that you are going down for the convention - you will have to give us a full report upon your return!

Speaking of pins, I saw a picture of the EWP pin, which was apparently a limited edition pin and is now only available via the "secondary market"! It's really neat, though! Pin expert that you are, do you think that they might issue another EWP pin some time in the future?

Let us know if you need help digging the canal linking the Seven Seas Lagoon to the Boardwalk area - I'm sure that we can all pitch in.....or have Don and Kas do the work for us!

Have a nice day, Everyone! :)

Hi TiggersMom! Welcome to the EWP. I will be at DIScon and look forward to meeting you there. I can hardly wait...it will so exciting to meet so many DISers all at one time.

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend. Like SG I had to zip home for the weekend to take care of some business so was MIA all weekend. I am so glad to be back here in the EWP suite where I can just put my feet up and relax. I am sure that Don will be a dear and bring me some nice hot earl grey tea so that I can just watch the world go by for a little while until I recover my strength.

I think later today I will head out to DD and do some shopping. I really must send some souvenir back home for the nieces and nephews. Then I think I will have some lunch at the Rainforest Restaurant.

Are there any plans for this evening?

Sorry all I couldn't stop by this weekend. My dad returned from a business trip to India on Saturday and I spent yesterday planning out his birthday party. Now I am ready to sit back in my new caftan my dad brought me back from India and drink some lemonade (oh and I prefer regular lemonade... nothing like that nice tart bite on a hot day). Now if I had only thought about going to the Crystal Palace for lunch.... oh well my bagel was just as good :)

I'll tell you all a little more about myself. I am a young one at 24. I was married this past Oct. in my hometown of Columbus and we honeymooned at WDW at the Poly concierge (and had a great lagoon view to see the EWP). I did go to OSU for college and am a big old Buckeye fan (I also met my DH there as well). I do not have children but I have what I call my two "kits" Cleo and Gwen. Cleo is a beautiful 8 year old black Maine Coon and Gwen is another beautiful Maine Coon. Gwenie though is only about 9 months old and weighs about 11 pounds. She is marked beautifully... mostly dark with white paws and white on her face... a few taupe stripes on her back as well. We recently bought a house and are looking forward to the move to more space. Other than playing on computers I love trying to convince DH that we need to vacation at WDW more often ;)

Hi Bashful! I think that we should spend some time "hanging out" in the Suite tonight, so that we can get to know our newest "members" better! Maybe we can have Don and Kas pick up our favorites from our favorite WDW restaurants and deliver them to us! Then we can all sample the various cuisines!

Helenabear - one of my cats, "The Big Ragoo", is also a black Maine Coon! And I also have a rather large cat, amongst my brood - "Laverne", a calico, weighs in at 19.1 pounds (down from 20, last year!)! "Shirley" is a Russian Blue and Boo Boo Kitty is a white Siamese, and they are both average weights! Happy Birthday to your Dad! We will toast him during our July / August Birthday Celebration, here in the "EWP" Suite!

Well, well, well, I was MIA this weekend also. With my twins and DH birthdays and all. Hanging out and sampling all of the foods sound marvelous to me. I am solo this week as DH is in Mexico and children have playoff baseball games to attend to. I will only use the teleport to see the games then come back quickly. I also have a cat. Her name is Mittens and she is all black with green eyes and incredibly small. She's a nervous cat, could be because the four kids make her nervous with all of their noise, maybe she should join us in the suite and relax a day or two. Can't wait to sample the goodies, if we get a currier. cya Wendy

I must find out what kind of air cleaner Disney uses in this suite as back home I am very allergic to cat hair and I don't seem to have that problem here. It is wonderful. I am enjoying watching your cats get to know one another.

I love the idea of getting Kas or Don to pick up our food this evening and getting together to swap life stories. I had read about a food delivery service in the Orlando area and was all excited until I found that they do not deliver on site. I have seen where you can order pizza but you have to go to the main desk area to pick it up. We might use our influence to get Disney to rethink some of their food practices. For instance the lack of late night eateries. While we don't have such worries it behoves us to watch out for our less fortunate breathern.

Gee, wonder if we can figure out what Riders all time favorite tv show is? IASW might not be my very favorite ride but it sure ranks right up there. I enjoy sitting in different spots and picking out different areas to explore each time. One time we got to ride 4 times in a row without getting out of the boat because it was so not crowded. Might have gotten to ride more but did not want to press the point. I keep thinking that the last room used to be entirely white while it now has a blue tone. Bet I know someone who can tell me for sure.

Doesn't Helena look beautiful in her sari? I just love rich, vibrant colors. It shows off your coloring so nicely.

I am hoping that I might be able to come to the DisCom also. I did not get my ressies changed in time for the rate change so I am praying they will come out with another offer so I don't have to go out in the heat of September. Also our tiny town will be hosting a National Country Music contest at Heritage Days and since I live near the town square I usually have an open house and would be sorely missed. Would it not be great for several of us to m eet there? TiggersMom and Bashful and I could really get into some serious trouble. (grin)

TiggersMom, you need to remember that Cass and Don are here to meet our every need and not only will they dig the canal to your specifications but they will find the keys. Please do not stress youself. It sounds as if you have enough going on in the 'real world' and this is where you can get away from it all.

Bashful, where did you get to sit at the RC? I love the monkey room but then I am afraid they will think I think I am one of the animals and not let me leave. I NEVER order bananas.

Rider, next time we are in the room at the same time I will be delighted to fix you your drink of choice. In my youth, before I was 21, I was a bartender and still remember how to make a few fancy drinks. Thank you so much for fetching for me in my hour of need yesterday.

I am off to Epcot today. I am in need of some dark, cool corners today. I believe lunch at Mexico and a ride or two or three on the River of Time would hit the spot. Anyone who wants is more than welcome to come along.

Slightly Goofy

I love looking at all these kitties. It's amazing how beautiful these cats look together. I love feeling the warmth of a cat sleeping on my lap just puring away.... it just seems prrrrfect.

I think I may have to just join you Slightly Goofy... the idea of riding through el Rio del Tiempo just sounds absolutely perfect given today's heat. Although as much as my babies love water, I'll have to leave them behind. Although I can't stay for long since I have to go and make sure my dad's house is nicely decorated for his birthday tonight... that and drop off his brownie birthday "cake" I made yesterday.... I just love planning birthday parties!

Dinner in sounds wonderful. I can't wait to sample all of the delicacies that Kas and Don are going to deliver!

Isn't the RC just wonderful. The kids just love it (although some of the things do alarm my yougest at times). We like to sit in a different section each time...this past time it was the elephants we sat with.

Shopping at DD was great this morning. Spent a fortune as usual but managed to buy some wonderful presents to send back home. Now I am off to AKL to visist the real animals. I will see you all for dinner later.

Wow - I've never been to the Rainforest Cafe, but it sounds like a really neat place, SlightlyGoofy and Bashful! Maybe DF and I will try it on our honeymoon!

Glad to hear that we have another cat person in the Suite, Jstmee! Where did Catsrule go? She should be here to join us! Glad to hear that all the pusses are not bothering your allergies, SlightlyGoofy, especially since they seem to have a habit of jumping into your lap and taking some quick cat naps! Just let us know if you would like us to direct them to the "EWP-Feline-Suite", which is currently being built next door, complete with scratching posts and cat beds! If we have other guests with other types of pets, I'm sure that we can get Don and Kas to break out their tool belts and build some additional pet facilities for them, too! By the way, as big a fan I (still!) am of TV shows of the 1970's and 1980's (I'm a big Nick at Nite / TV Land watcher!), "Laverne and Shirley" actually wasn't my favorite show (though I think that it's cute!) I actually started out with 2 female cats and was looking for 2 female names that went together. After considering "Wilma and Betty" and "Lucy and Ethel", I realized that "Laverne and Shirley" just seemed to fit them! A few years later, I took in 2 strays - one male and one female.....hence "Boo Boo Kitty and The Big Ragoo"! To be honest, if I was to name them after the characters on my favorite 70's sitcom.....their names would be "Barbarino", "Horshack", "Washington", and "Epstein"! :) (Totally irrelevant point of information: I took an acting class which was taught by the actor who played "Horshack", a few years ago, and the actor who played "Epstein" is an old friend of my ex-husband's!)

COUNTDOWN TILL SLIGHTLYGOOFY'S BIRTHDAY: 2 DAYS!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HELENABEAR'S FATHER!!!!

Loved riding El Rio Del Tiempo with you both, SlightlyGoofy and Helenabear, today! That is such a nice and peaceful boat ride. I have never gotten up the nerve to try the Maelstrom, though - have any of you? We did eat in Restaurant Akershus in Norway for the first time last month, though, and it was outstanding! The food was excellent and the service was wonderful! Our waiter taught us all about his homeland, as well!

Glad that you enjoyed your shopping spree, Bashful! There are so many great stores at DD that I never know where to begin looking!

Well, I expect that our gentleman assistants will be arriving soon with our buffet of goodies, so I'd better straighten up the place, a little bit! I like Bashful's idea - I think we should all hit the Animal Kingdom tomorrow - what do you say?

Have a good night and bon appetit! :)
