Everything you need to know about WDW Christmas- Tips & Secrets

The Christmas parade will take the place of the daytime parade after the last MVMCP, which is on December 19. As far as I know, they're still showing the MSEP rather than SpectroMagic (and of course, that's not running every night).

Thank you!

Well I have to agree with you about Ridemax. I tried it for the first time last February and it really does work.

My biggest tip for going over Christmas is do NOT go with the expectations of seeing and doing everything. Expecting your pace and productivity to be the same as any other non Christmas trip, is just setting yourself up for disaster, aggravation, and disappointment.

Make a list of the top 5-10 things you really want to do and see, focus on those, and just relax and enjoy the decor and time spent with your loved ones.

If you have little ones or anyone who want to meet the characters, plan for a few character meal ADR's so you can meet them without waiting in an atrocious line.

Also, be sure to have back up plans of things to do and see if the parks get too crowded (i.e. shopping, resort hopping, golf, etc...)

Quick question, I know the Osbourne Lights don't officially start till Nov 8, do they sometimes run them a few nights before the official first night? Thanks!

Does anyone know when the "Holiday" Illuminations will begin at Epcot?

I saw on another website that DHS is already well decorated for Christmas and other thing are going up each day! :cool1: I makes sense because the Osborne lights and MVMCP start on Tuesday.

BUT
Does anyone know what kind of progress has been made at GF on the gingerbread house or at the other resorts that go BIG for the holidays. (Beach Club etc.)

We are going the weekend before Thanksgiving and I am already too excited to sleep! It is going to be our 1st Christmas trip and DH and I both need a break from "the real wold" in a really bad way. Even if it is a short trip I need MICKEY. :earsgirl:

There's a recent thread on this that says November 15th- they are working on it now!!!

I love the post search. I was able to find a post I used last year to make blankets for our trip.

I posted this on the thread about MVMCP and didn't exactly get the response I thought I would. Actually I didn't get an response at all to it. :confused3 I thought it was somewhat a good idea, but please someone let me know if it's lame or just a bad idea. I promise I won't be insulted, sometimes my brain works in weird ways :upsidedow Okay so here's the idea:

I've noticed a lot of people said that it does get chilly at night and some have mentioned a blanket to sit on for the parade because the ground is cold. DH and I travel light when we go (the necessities and a few snacks in a backpack and that's it).

So I was thinking of how I could get the same luxury of sitting on a blanket but not creat more bulk to carry and  Hey why don't you just go to the fabric store and get some fleecy fabric and make mini "butt" blankets. You can make them as simple or fancy as you want (ie - just a single piece cut in a 16 x 16 square OR two pieces sewn together really quick on the sewing machine)

I just thought this was a good way to keep the tushies warm but not having to lug around a blanket.

I hope someone can benefit from this, I know DH and I will have our mini blankets so we can keep our buns toasty  <--(i just like the banana)

I made these last year and they were great! I wanted to make the blanket for firends going this year and I couldn't remember the size. I search for the post and I am glad that I found your post from last year.

Thanks for posting this, this is a great idea.

Well, I finally decided to "take the plunge". We are booked on a Disney Cruise right after Thanksgiving next year, so we have decided to stay over for 4 extra days to see WDW in its finest Christmas splendor! Gotta say, I am getting pumped about it already & I have to wait a year :)

I saw that the GF gingerbread house was getting it's finishing touches. Has anyone heard anything about the other big resort displays. Beach Club, Boardwalk, etc.

After watching HGTV Behind the Magic, I cannot wait to see the gingerbread house. It gave me a greater appreciation for alll the individual attention and work that goes into it and all the other decor. Disney is amazing! I am going to use their technique for chocolate coating this year on some of my Christmas treats and shingles are on my must buy list for friends back home.:santa:

Was that on over the weekend? I still have it DVR'd from last year and watch it on occassions. I loved the all access tours that he went on and seeing the start to finish process.
