Everything you need to know about WDW Christmas- Tips & Secrets

I have actually been wondering the same thing. We are from New Brunswick Canada so if it it 40-50 degrees we only would wear a light coat. 50 - 60 we just wouldn't wear shorts maybe pants and a light top. Anything above 60 is short and tank top weather for us.

First please excuse me I am a newbie. We will be going to DW for the first time ever in December. I saw some post about having to wear winter coats....

Is that because it is going to be below 40 degrees? We will be driving from Northern Indiana so we will have our winter coats but will be actaully need to take them to the park? For us anything over 50 is going to feel warm enough for a light jacket. :rotfl:

TIA

we were down in WDW last december and found it to be really comfortable!! we are from Buffalo NY and was ok with a sweatshirt. One night i did have to Buy hat and mittens because it did get really cold. Just keep cheking the weather before you go!! :)

It's just me (21) and my mom (she'd rather not say :thumbsup2). We have two whole days at the park so we were trying to pick two. Our favorite park is Epcot, but we heard that the light show at DHS is not to be missed. Thanks for your help Disney Mommy!

Hello Fellow Western New Yorker!!!

The weather in Central Flordia can get cold in the morning. Last year in November, they had frost warnings for most of Flordia. If this is your first Christmas trip, bring something warm to put on in the morning.

As for Christmas Day...we have been down only 2 times on Christmas Day. If you are planning to do MK, get there before 8:00 am as the park will close around noon or later. The only guests to get in is the families that stay at a Disney resort. We did the last seating for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and remember the MK lot almost filled at 11:30 am.

At the Yacht and Beach club, they do serve a mean hot apple cider inside the lobby.

Posted above^^,see the Osborne Lights while FAS is played in the Hollywood Theatre.

We'll be there from the 4th to the 8th. I've heard you need tickets for this. How would you get them?

Thanks,
Colleen

I've never been to a taping, so I'm not sure how. Hopefully someone on here knows.

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of planning our december no kids trip. :cool1:I haven't made any reservations yet and really haven't settled on exact dates. Right now I am leaning towards Dec 1-6. This would make the Saturday of the taping our last park day. I want to avoid crowds rather than see a taping of a show. My guess is to avoid MK this day. What is the best park to go on a Saturday in Dec? I did Unofficial Guide for our last trip but probably won't use it this trip. I will rely on DIS.

Yes, if you don't want to watch the taping, then you'll probably want to stay away from MK on that Saturday. Also, I think they usually tape the stage performances of the show on that Friday, so unless you'd like to see those, maybe go somewhere other than MK on that day, as well.

Ditto, I think the carriage ride would be fabulous! And it's just $35/carriage? Do you think a family of 5 could fit in one carriage???

We are staying there also. From what I can see, it has gone up to $45 per ride. We did the ride at WL a couple of years ago and we are a family of 5 and fit fine. They also gave us a blanket to cover up with and the driver took our pic so we were able to have a nice family photo in the carriage with the horse and everything. More than anything, it is a beautiful ride!!

How did you make ressies for this???

Just booked today!
LTT- I do hope they bring the characters back! The food is average but worth it for the character interaction.
Weather- I welcome it! I have been in summer my last few trips, so I would love to wear a jacket!:rotfl2:
And, although I've been to WDW many times, I don't think (we used to go at the end of Nov.) I've ever been for the holiday season. There is so much to learn!

Hello all. Don't forget the carriage ride at the Campground. Many of the people who stay there for extended times have elaborate decorations and the carriage drivers know exactly where to take you if you want to see the decorations. Some people also may give you a little treat as you cruise by.

Do most parks close early (compare to the summer). I know the night we do MVMCP we will be out late. I suppose DTD is open late and the Boardwalk? Is anything special going on at either place?

We really appreciate all the info in this thread.

Hey There! Can anyone tell me what is included in the CP dining Package? Appetizer and dessert? Thanks for info...

It depends. If you are on the dining plan and using the 1 credit for the CP pkg, no appy is included.Just entree, drink, dessert. If you are paying OOP, the appy is included

We were at MK on New Year's Eve and lucky for us we got an early start. The park reached maximum capacity at 11am. A CM told us that if you weren't in the park before 11am you weren't getting in, even if you were staying at a resort hotel.

heading to Disney the 19-23 with my girl friend. Its out first time in Disney around the holidays. I am really interested if there is anything special going on the week if christmas.

No, its really quiet during the month of December up to and through New Years.......:rotfl2: No, really, this is absolutely the best time to visit WDW. You and your girl friend will not be disappointed. :santa:

No one will no for sure until December park hours are released (currently they've been announced through October), but I think that Epcot still has the same hours (9am to 9pm) year-round, with IllumiNations starting at 9pm. Animal Kingdom typically closes around 5pm or 6pm, and I'm not sure about MK and DHS.

At Downtown Disney, Santa has a meet & greet until 10pm (it opens at 5pm November 17-26, and at 12pm November 27-December 24).

I haven't read through the whole thread but we are taking our 1st Christmas trip 12/16-21. We are giving it our boys in 3 weeks for their birthday. I am so excited!!!
