I don't think I saw this answered on the first page. I'm going in April and it looks like I will receive mb2.0 through MDE. I am thinking about getting a Star Wars band once I get to WDW, but don't really care for the only 2.0 Star Wars band currently available on DisneyStore.com. So, if I get to WDW and find that they don't have a 2.0 Star Wars band, but have a 1.0 Star Wars band that I really like, would I be able to get the Star Wars band there and use it in place of the 2.0 band they're shipping out to me.

From those that have used both 1.0 and 2.0 bands, what are the advantages of the 2.0 band over the 1.0 band?

The only difference between 1.0 and 2.0 is how they look. You can use any and all magic bands you may have.

Forgive if this has been answered a million times over and/or this isn't the right thread to ask. I've tried looking at this thread and the one with using 2 and 3 bands to make a bunch of FP and got a headache trying to understand it. Here's the question........We are going with our kids/grandkids and are doing a split stay. Usually on moving day, Dh and I are treat that as a rest day. But could our kids/ grandkids use our bands for FP that day without us going into the park? Thanks for the help.

That's more a fastpass question and there is a whole subforum on fastpass that might yield a better answer. Technically yes, assuming you have a ticket for that day as you need a ticket to get fastpass. many people interpret the fine print as that is not allowed so you should ask in that forum or do some more research on the fastpass/ticket fine print/rules to see how you feel about it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Yes, we do have annual passes, so that not the issue. Like I said, DH and I would take our time, check out, eat a later breakfast and then head over to the next resort. Even if a room isn't ready, most places have a nice enough lobby to hang out. But If DS and can use our FP to take DGS on a few extra rides, that would be super. I rather not deal with having to go just to be in the park for 2 mins. I'll continue searching. If I have to , I'll do it, but hoping I won't.

There are so many threads here and I am confused. Are the new bands out now or still the old ones being mailed out? My trip is in October so curious to know what band I will receive

you won't get your bands until closer to your trip so anything could change by then. Right now if your staying at a disney resort or annual passholder and shipping your bands to home then you 2.0 bands. If your staying at a disney resort and picking up your bands or set the resort address as your ship to address your getting 1.0 bands (mostly international visitors). 1 exception is someone who picked up their customized bands at the resort said they got 2.0 bands but nobody has else said that.

Over on the Canadian board we have a thread where people have been reporting whether they receive 1.0 or 2.0 upon check in. Many are now getting 2.0 at all resort levels and we have a theory that it may have to do with colour choices. Based on the reports so far if your order contained red bands you received 2.0.

Some folks said they didn't care for the new ones, they are too wide. While other folks like the idea that you can take out the Mickey and put it in a key chain. I have the old one and it is nicely decorated, so hoping it will still work this year. It's two years old now, so will see.

The only thing a two year old band might not work for is ride pictures and videos, because those things require the battery in the band to be working. Anything that you do by touching the band - entering the parks, entering your hotel room, using FP, etc. - doesn't require a battery and will therefore work fine.

That's all I need. Don't do the photos. I love my band!

Question on MB shipping - we will be in FL a week before our on site stay. We will be leaving May 1 for FL, but not checking in to AKV until May 7. Is this going to be an issue for us receiving our MBs?

they arrive about 2-3 weeks (usually 3 weeks if it's not busy season) before you check in so it sounds like you will be home to get them. If you are concerned, you can set the ship to address to the resort your staying at a pick them up at the front desk. Just to note, per @DisneyNB a couple posts up, the candian disers have sorted out that right now, someone getting red appears to get you 2.0 bands when you pick them up at the resort. If your unaware, picking up bands at the resort does not guarantee you the new design if that is important.

We will actually be at WDW at the end of May as well on site, so I will likely have those sent to the resort then (month long vacation). I thought they sent out at 11 days before so I was a bit worried they would only have 4 ish days to get here. Thanks!!

On sending them to the resort, how does that go? Do I just send the c/o us at the resort?

The time line looks roughly like this:
- don't customize, grey bands will be waiting for you at the resort with no customization.
- international travelers: customize up to 14 days before arrival, bands will be waiting at the resort.
- booked before 30 days from arrival, customize before 30 days away, get them 1-2 weeks after you can't customize them.
- book between 30 and 14 days of arrival, customize and they will be waiting at the resort to pick up.
- book under 14 days from arrival, grey bands will be waiting with no customization to pick up.

Now the USPS is involved so times may vary depending on how well they handle the cheapest way possible to mail it to you shipping.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/mail-services/

You can find the resort address by looking up the resort on the website, it'll start in the room rates, along the top there is tabs, just select the resort overview one and you'll see the address. basically it's add GUEST: to the shipping name or somewhere on the box. You may find better instructions in the budget board or anywhere people are sending groceries, cases of water, etc for their trip. i've actually never sent them but a lot do.

One thing to note, it'll not be at the mail drop but at the front desk and be handled like an international guest so if you get 1.0 or 2.0 and there is no package fee for bands you shipped there. aka go to the front desk to collect them and not the mail/storage/baggage in the resort.

I read through the info on the first 2 posts and I am still confused. We are staying at the Swan the beginning of April. I know it is "offsite." If we want to order magic bands and have them shipped to our house, how many days in advanced do I need to place the order?

I ordered on 3/4 and they're scheduled to arrive 3/14 (tomorrow). So it's taking ten days but I'm on the west coast. YMMV but I would think you're cutting it awfully close for April 1st.

disneystore isn't really the fastest shippers. There is also a larger variety of bands at WDW so I recommend you wait and pick them up on property. It not only gives you a chance to see if you want to spend the money on them, but gives you a wider variety. If you do decide to get them, it's a couple seconds per band for the CM who is checking you out to link them up for you and they will work immediately after that.
