I know it's been said before and I don't want to sound like a nag, but this is so important that it needs to be said again.

Please, please be careful in the amount of personal information you give out on the internet. I know the DIS feels like a safe place but please always keep in the back of your mind the fact that you don't really know who is actually typing on that keyboard on the other side of the username you are posting with.

Its sad, but it's a reality that there are people out there that will pose as a teenager to gain your trust for bad reasons. Be proactive and guard your personal information - your last name, your address, what school you go to, etc. Do not give that out freely. Better safe than sorry!

Also, please remember that Travis and I are always here for you if you need us. Feel free to contact us whenever you need to.

Those surveys usually come from Facebook/Myspace where msot people know their friends.

There was a thread basically saying the same thing that Lauri said. It was from some guy who was studying the topic.
He made sure to warn the girls about how they never know who the males really are, but never extended the warning to the guys.

I actually had to reread the thread a few times.
I believe that the guy meant that those two posters, were the ones that saw the fake users, rather than the admin.
That's what I got from it.
