Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

There are no problems getting dropped at a Resort you neither stay at or have an ADR at

First post still says "Dropping guests at resorts is also easy, but you still must be staying there or have a dining reservation." :\

All I can say is we've done it a lot with out reservations or ADR and it is no problem
I wouldn't hesitate to do it again
When the driver says they are just dropping off the guards have never even asked why we are going to the resort

Plus, Rob posted this, not sure what was charged in the first post though, been a long time since I read it

updated OP to reflect drop off at CR is not an issue.

I have had Security ask for the Guest's MB when dropping off. I think it was at SSR, maybe a month or so ago. YMMV.

Whenever we've been dropped off at the deluxe resorts, they have always asked for our magic bands. I just figured it was normal

In all of our trips they only ask for the ID of the driver. Well, after he's told them that he's just there to drop off guests. They never have asked us for a thing. And we use Uber/Lyft a lot, 5, 6 times every trip, 10 trips this year so far.

Well, my dd started using Uber this past week or so. Her boyfriend is staying at a Holiday Inn on 535, close to her Disney housing. Buses were not so great, so they started using Uber. Today, my dd snap chatted how awkward it is when your Uber driver hits on you. Now, I wasn't there, and I will be asking her about it. But, if there's any truth, whatsoever, in her comment? I sure won't be comfortable with young women using Uber alone.

People are people. It'd be the same as if her taxi driver hit on her, or a guy at her gym, or a customer at her store at the MK. I'm sure she probably knows how to deal with it by now.

I've never had them ask our driver for ID. I guess it really comes down to the guards.

As she gets older, the more she gets used to it...sadly. But...my issue is that she is alone in a car with a strange male (usually anyway). Yes, a taxi is the same scenario, but with the regulations they have, I don't tend to worry quite so much. This was the first time she used Uber alone...sadly, not a good way for her to gain any confidence in using this service.

How do you call Uber and speak to a person? I want to check fares and book a long distance trip. I am also wondering about Uber policies about stopping for some groceries along the route? Is that even doable?

They operate on an app, even for a trip you book/reserve
You check fares on the app also
Uber doesn't set the policies for stops. That's gonna be up to your driver.

Thank you, Angie!

So, I looked on the app and got an estimate. $204 - $272 for uber XL or $115 - $153 for reg Uber. With 3 women and 6 suitcases (three 27" and three carry ons), how do we know which to book?

Also, that is a big variance in price. Is the final price up to the driver a well? and the price range from $115 to $272 one way is huge! (Plus this is one way!)

At $115, we would go with Uber, but at $272 we would drive ourselves with a rental. If you can't call to ask, how am I to know what price it will be?

What would you do? I have never used Uber before. Perhaps this isn't the best way to get started...

Thank you for your help!

Rates are not up to the driver.
Hopefully one of the drivers will chime in with details but as far as I understand it the range comes from not being able to say with absolutely certainty how long it will take. Uber fare is some algorithm involving distance and time.
Distance they can get close on, though drivers are free to drive whatever route they want. Time is variable. Hence, the range.

As for the difference between $115 to $272, that's the cars, XL costs more (bigger car) than regular. I think you'd be quite tight in a regular Uber (think small, compact 4 door car, with 2 in the back, 1 in the front. 3 suitcases will likely fill the trunk so carry ons would be on your lap. Too tight for me to drive from MCO to Jacksonville, that's for sure. You'd want to size up, at least I would.

Used Uber while there last week. It was a complete fail. We were at Disney Springs and placed the request from what looks like the old bus loop behind Wolfgang Express. There were plenty of other drivers picking up folks there, including taxis. The app said Strawberry lot. The driver took about 20 minutes to find me. DW was not happy. Found out on the ride back, that he was from Tampa in to run rides for a concert and he was not familiar with Disney Springs. Maybe I was in a bad location, I don't know. We finally made it back to WL, though.

When entering the gate at WL, the guard asked to scan my Magic Band.

Uber is not allowed to pick up there. Some drivers may be doing it, but Uber Inc. has explicitly told us more than once not to. The only authorized pickup at DS is in the Strawberry Lot, behind HOB on the West Side.
